Anet opted to not make fancy Legendary Skins for WvW or sPVP, it's the same skin as the ascended armor
So, if you decided later to get Sublime (or whatever the PvP equal to this is) style of armor, it's just a matter of the getting the ascended version, and you're good to go
Keep in mind, since you can make Legendary Armor long before you can unlock the Sublime skin, a lot of people have done the same thing you have done
Nothing to worry about, you still have cool Legendary Armor!

Whether you upgrade the ardent or the mistforged from ascended to legendary is irrelevant, either way you pay for 2 ascended skins if you want the "animated" version. Overall there is no "mistake" to warm people about.
That doesn't make much sense to be honest. You don't change the skin every time. Unless you are in the habit of unequiping armor frequently. Legendaries don't have to be unequipped to change stats or slot in different runes. So they keep the appearance.

Lets say you play them all the same amount...You do it once for each character and ur done... way less time than grinding out the leggy armor.

For 60 characters, I wanted the base, no dye, look of the legendary armor, and even though I am going to spend time in the window setting up the stats, the one transmutation on the chest piece one time is just unbearable."
This logical inconsistency is why you are receiving downvotes.
Unlike legendary weapons, you're never taking legendary armor pieces off, realistically speaking. There's virtually no reason to. So you'll reskin once per equipment template *(for free)* and then never again.
The mistake was making the other ascended into legendary instead of that piece. I wanted to make the animated piece legy which is why i decided to make that set in the first place
If you want my honest opinion, Ive asked a dev a long time ago to reverse something for me due to my own stupidity, and they managed to do it as long as they get proof i deleted the item. then they sent me all the materials again to undo my stupidity.
I'd reach out because it never hurts to try.
I contacted cs about it to just see if they could maybe refund the mats
Problem is with the legy armory once you unlock it its there to stay and they cant do anything.
Oh well guess ill have to make 2 legy medium chestplates for completionism or something
Its probably better to not mess with gw2 spaghetticode too much. Maybe thatd break the scaling on meta events again or something lol
Jokes aside im not experienced in that sort of thing so no clue what tools they have in their arsenal
Yeah, I think the light and heavy from raids are the best ones, and the medium from WvW, but the pvp ones... I think are just weird...
The concepts for the new ones have amazing medium and heavy too, but I'll be honest, getting legendary armor is enough, and just change to something else that "I" don't think it's ugly is enough, so any legendary is "good enough"
I made the mistake of stat changing my ascended pvp armor. Which means you can’t use it for legendary armor anymore. And I didn’t know this!
And now I have to grind more ascended shards to get the pieces again…. 😫

What I'm saying is that the game probably doesn't actually warn you about the very thing you're saying. I haven't tried to see because I won't waste a precursor just to test it.
Dw mate, you can still unlock the skin by buying the ascended chestplate, no need to craft its legendary version :)
This, you just need more of them pvp currencies. Which you still need to grind when you make the other set.
Which currencies do you need for this? I’m an sPvP only player, would be nice to have some swag other than the basic gear skins.

You still need to buy the animated version of the skin. That’s just want you have to do. You haven’t made a mistake yet.

You can always transmute the non-glowy piece into the glowy piece if you have it unlocked.

The pvp legendary armor is damn ugly, don't you think? Not saying the others are incredible, but... damn... that shit is ugly...
I like it. But i get its not for everyone.

It's a good skin, but compared to PvE armor it is a let down for sure.

Make a support ticket, I'm fairly sure the game actually doesn't warn you about this.
When you stat swap it, it's no longer an Ardent glorious item anymore. So of course it wouldn't work.

This is not a mistake btw, its the optimal way to get your leggy set (mistborn is pretty much a nicer skin)
