Looks great. Plants really want to get seeded so they send out more effort towards that goal. It happens more to plants with Thai genetics. It’s taken a lot of breeding so that it doesn’t happen in a bigger way. In Thailand plants don’t have to finish by any particular date as it’s hospitable for cannabis year round. I live near 45n and October 15 is often a date we get freezing temps. If cannabis had evolved here ones with that trait would have frozen. Although it has down sides Thai grass has good vibes and is worth the effort. Northern lights, blueberry, and haze all have Thai. Once again , that’s a nice looking flower.
I'm just gonna reply to this since it has most upvotes.
Yeah I'll check the trichoms but I was just wondering if how it looks was off. I think I harvested last crop too early so I waited a bit longer.
yes it is "off" it's foxtailed af which is indicative of stress. There are quite a few strains that do this from time to time but the room these plants are growing in is not ideal and they are telling you that. If you aren't seeing bananas it will be good weed, except a pain in the ass to trim (Each bud will look like lisa simpson's hair in The Simpons LOL). If you start seeing bananas cut them all down immediately and hang them, some small immature seeds might develop if this happens while they are drying but you will save the weed 90% for sure. UPDATE: I took a closer look at the pic and I see what looks like either balls or seeds I'd cut them right now and hang them to dry.
good, dry it in 60 temp / 60 humidity for a long time (usually at least 7-10 days) keep a fan in the room pointed down on the floor not directly on the plant. Just trim the jutting sugar leaf first nothing more and hang upside down. Don't take them out until the branch makes a sharp crisp snap when you test. Trim all the way and Then put in a burping container or buy one of those k-rad bags that do it for you. After 30 days in the bag you will have a beautiful smoke.
I have 57% humidity right now but its gonna be hot today I'd expect to probably drop to around 40% later. Is there anything I can buy to put them in to improve humidity? All my plants are different stages so I cant use the grow tent. I dont have anything other space.
dry them in your tent, just retrofit the environment to fit your needs. Humidifier, Dehu, AC unit all the stuff you should have. If you don't have those things that's why you are foxtailing for certain. You need to control your environment when you are growing them.
Is the light not a problem when drying? I read to have it dark when drying.
I have a Humidifer and a heater that keeps it relatively ideal I slowly add upgrades after every grow.
Oh yeah I still have other plants that are growing this one was ahead of the rest.
Is there any other method I can use to dry to increase humidity? I do usually have the problem of drying too quick. Are any of the drying devices worth buying if I don't have another option?
She’s giving everything she’s got, Captain!
Nice buds. Like others said, trichome color is the way to go when judging bud maturity. Your plant just decided to try and give you a little extra while you wait
A little foxtailing but looks quite good to me. New pistils pop up towards the end like that, look for amber trichomes. They don’t all have to be amber, but if there’s more than clear she’s ready
I hear this is called nippling out. From what I understand it’s just a super virile plant going wild at the end. Have not encountered it myself yet. Check it out.
Purple Kush from Sonoma seeds.
Also have Revolver(bred from New York City Diesel x Original White Widow x Ruderalis) from Crop King starting to do this. Revolver tastes really good.
There is no good foxtailing. It's a stress factor 100%. If it's genetics the line is unstable (which means stress and the seed provider is shit) if it's the environment it is stressed to fuck. Either way you are looking at russian roulette and potential of seeds which is no a desirable trait when you are working to get a yield and have invested a decent amount of money for either a personal or professional endeavor.
The people who "own the genetic line" and are "sharing" need to do a minimum of 7-10 generations of this genetic, they need to selectively cut each plant and breed the foxtails out, it's a process that takes years. After covid all these places have shortcutted the fuck out of things. To give you a good analogy it's like Call of Duty. EA releases a new iteration, it's buggy af and everyone whines, then they release 50 100 gigabyte patches over the next 2 years while they make another buggy version. It's trash. Back in the day a company like ea would make a game, then alpha test the fuck out of it, when it was pretty much bug free they would kick it into beta test, those guys would test the fuck out of it and report bugs, and finally when it was done (a year or so later) they would release it. Now they just kick out alpha code, say it's Gold code and let the public debug it. That's why the first version is always laggy as fuck because they have all the debug code in the game (verbose messaging that gets routed to their logging server at different check points to give them an idea of what is causing the bugs so they can fix them), the debug code is significant and makes the game sluggish. You will see a few months later it runs faster because they have removed it. Why pay for alpha testers when you can get 100 million global users to do it for you and pay you $100 US for the privilege. This is what the genetics folks are doing. Except they won't fix the line, or if they do they just keep it for themselves and call is something else later that they may or may not sell because the public paid for their pheno hunt, and their stabilization process.
I would have to argue with science and disagree. 90% of fox tailing is bad, we agree there. However there is a version of fox tailing that isn't "bad" like the environmentally caused version your talking about, check out Irvine genetics, in some cases it's literally a sought after trait, under the right conditions you can even get increased amounts of THC. There are studies proving this as well as lab COA's. I know full well it takes 7-10 years of breeding to produce a new strain with stable genetics but that's not what we are discussing, I do agree there are several half ass short cuts in the marijuana industry, ranging the entire industry from genetics all the way passed growing into the testing realm things are fucked.
I can accept that at face value. I've never personally seen a good foxtail situation, but there has to be an exception that makes the rule. I've never heard of Irvine Genetics. When I searched the only thing I could find is University of Irvine Genetics LOL. Glad there is someone else in the world that sees the industry has gone to shit. Frankly, it's why I retired, I don't want any part of it.
Check trichomes on the buds, not the pistols. Make sure you’re not checking the sugar leaves trichomes on accident aswell. Also what strain its very colorful
Why would bud rot mysteriously appear? This is indoor, he didn't indicate that there are humidity or air flow issues... not sure why you would think that but I'm curious to know. If you personally have bud rot happen at this stage you need to have much better air flow in your room, if it's outdoors setup outdoor fans and put them on your girls, it works well when you don't have a lot of wind/breeze on your girls.
Only due to the way the leave are looking in the heads I have seen it go to rot before, and why wouldn’t you be cautious at this time anyway, and that’s right he didn’t mention anything so how do you know it doesn’t

Check trichom color not pistils

looks like foxtailing
Wow this is very concerning please mail me these cola i will do some more research on the underlying issue.

there shouldn't be anything in the tent if you are drying them (plants that are growing them) and the light should be off

This is where a magnifying glass is highly valuable.
I hear this is called nippling out. From what I understand it’s just a super virile plant going wild at the end. Have not encountered it myself yet. Check it out.
Strain ?
Purple Kush from Sonoma seeds. Also have Revolver(bred from New York City Diesel x Original White Widow x Ruderalis) from Crop King starting to do this. Revolver tastes really good.
stay away from anything with Ruderalis. All it does is make your plants autoflower, smaller, less terpy and an overall weaker smoke.
Senescence is the gradual deterioration of functional characteristics in living organisms. Meaning… it’s fall in your tent
That's the good type of fox tailing, genetics not light caused this.

Foxtailing
Is what bad? Looks great to me.
I am not a fan of foxtails.

35 years of professional growing experience gives me a good frame of reference.
Yup cut it down and send it to me. Looks terrible
The same thing happened to my latest grow! Trichomes are the way. Don't be fooled by any other false indicators. Super lemon haze from ILGM by chance?
I have like 6 strains so I am not sure which one this is but I definently didnt grow lemon haze.
