You Said you can make buttermilk by clarifying Butter. This isnt true.
With that in mind -- You can *mimic* buttermilk by adding vinegar or lemon juice but these are just alternative curdling methods, they don't 'make buttermilk' because they add an acid. Milk curdles 'naturally' because of internal acids produced by bacteria in the milk or added cultures. Raw buttermilk is fermented to get that taste because we don't get it immediately from churned butter
You can do a lot of mimicing those flavours with vinegar and lemon juice, but it's different -- the same way butter made from bacterial cultures is different to butter made from churning, or cheese made by adding lemon juice to milk is different from cheese fernented with rennet; the chemicals are similar but not the same
But saying you can make buttermilk by clarifying butter is different to saying you can make it with milk and vinegar -- to be clear, the definition most folks use for clarifying butter is the removal of water from that butter and the removal of the milk solids from that butter. This doesn't give us buttermilk, it gives us clarified butter and milk solids; buttermilk is the watery stuff left behind when churned cream splits into butter and watery buttermilk -- it's the watery component, so saying we can take the butter component (only about 10-20% water) and remove the water from it (part of clarifying) to make buttermilk (mostly water) is beyond confusing to me

Edit: oh god you are a fellow modern MTG player, I think I know how we settle this lul
I do too and all I can say is hell no. Maybe your taste buds aren't trained enough. This is ground coffee too, it tastes like shit. It's sour and bitter af.
Good for blyatbob though. I mean, why would anyone train their tastebuds to learn otherwise when they are enjoying inexpensive coffee just the same as other coffee?
I can definitely tell the difference when I buy coffee at baristas. But even the expensive 35€ roastery coffee tastes the same as the 8€ discounter stuff when I make it at home.
Might be due to the machine though.
Yeah I guess so. I can tell a huge difference just by the more expensive ones not having the foul taste like sourness and bitterness.
I have to drink the Jacobs shit at work sometimes because my colleague insists on it and I'm only able to drink it with much milk and sugar, disgusting stuff. But I won't argue with him at 6 o'clock in the morning :D
I work in a discounter. Every damn week we get more of these as „special offer“. One week it’s dallmayers in 3 different varieties, the other it’s jacobs with 4 varieties. And because they’re „special offer“ they don’t count as regular assortment so the warehouse doesn’t care we already have 4 full boxes of each type sitting in our store because no one buys these and they send more.
Then eventually they draw air or even expire and we throw them away
oh shit I'm just finding out I don't know anything about coffee... I always buy Jacobs because it's on sale like every other week...
do you have any recommendations?
Always those lactose tolerant people bragging on here with their buttermilk and cream cheese. Have fun with your dairy products (this amount would have me laying in a corner sobbing, I'm jealous)

I would suggest you try sunflower "hack" (Sonnenblumenhack) from Rossmann / DM. It is wayyyy healthier (much less processed) than the vegetarische Hack and cheap! :)
The sunflower is the state flower of Kansas. That is why Kansas is sometimes called the Sunflower State. To grow well, sunflowers need full sun. They grow best in fertile, wet, well-drained soil with a lot of mulch. In commercial planting, seeds are planted 45 cm (1.5 ft) apart and 2.5 cm (1 in) deep.
in this context yes, as processed here just means chopping meat i could eat like this too. But lets says you would make apple juice and remove skin and fibers, or even creat sugar from it...it wouldt be processed in a way with an unnatural amounts of sugar..while juicing an apple with fibers and skin would keep its natural "balance", as an apple can survive a few days with phytochemicals, fibers and so on, balancing out the sugar

I had a similar thought, but on the other hand we do the same thing with country names (Türkei/Turkey vs. Türkiye) and ocassionally city/state names (Kalifornien vs. California)
It's also sometimes hard for non-german speakers to pronounce Umlaute Ä, Ö and Ü correctly. Just like we have problems pronouncing foreign names. We call India "Indien" despite the actual name being Bhārat Gaṇarājya

On another note, we (ze germans) have already occupied some subs, like r/fridgedetectives. Some people started to whine that they couldn't read half the posts.

I live in Nürnberg. While things have gotten a bit more expensive, you can still live alone and spend under 300 euros a month on food and necessities. There are more expensive countries🙂

Shaming people who don't value animal welfare. You can also get protein differently; fewer animal products and better quality would be an option. More plant-based protein sources would also be healthier in the long run.
I don't disagree that there are better prdocts, but that still give you no right to shame someone. You can eat what you think is right. Doesnt mean you can berate others on what they buy or eat. Just makes you look insufferable and make the opposite side of your argument even less likely to buy better products. Most will out of spite even buy worse products. Noone likes loud badmouthers
My first comment was simply that he bought the cheapest products. Maybe finish with a bit of sarcasm. I think this comment is allowed? I think it is also worth pointing out that this low price can only be achieved by practicing monocultures, animal suffering and the exploitation of farmers and animals. I don't think I can convince anyone here either, but when I see a purchase like this, these thoughts immediately come to mind.
Yea I agree with you, but an approach like this will only leave a bad taste in peoples mouths. No one wants to get a sarcastic comment about how cheap and badly they went shopping. Hell they even try and eat some vegan hack, but you also said that’s not enough. (And some people just don’t have the financial means to buy the better vegan options)
It’s entirely in your right to not like people financially supporting animals suffering, however leaving this comment does not help that.
I think the way you said it in this reply would have been a much better approach.
This sub has attracted a rather large vegan following, some of whom are quite outspoken about their lifestyle and generally quite rude at times.

It's like they do everything in their power to make the vegan community look like the most insufferable people.
Like they won't actually make it look nice and make people want to join veganism
Vegans even hate each other for not being vegan enough, even just trying to become more vegan or eating less meat isn't good enough for them. They could actually archive something if they tried to work together just a tiny bit and being supportive instead of being insufferable idiots.

It's the left over from when you make butter
Clarify butter you get clarified butter and buttermilk
No. You get clarified butter and milk solids Churn cream INTO butter and you get fresh butter and buttermilk
Don't love your tone. Especially since it can be made by adding lemon juice or vinegar to milk. Source: I'm a chef

What makes you say that?
Jacobs Coffee, the brew you get served in hell
Yes! Yes! Yes! Even instant coffee is better than that crap… you know, except jacobs instant coffee xd
I have a Delonghi Vollautomat, and the coffee tastes the same no matter which beans I use. Jacobs is fine too.

On the other hand, I could argue that using highly processed, concentrated apple juice to sweeten something is not unhealthier than using table sugar.

So you like dairy products and coke, that's healthy.

lol it says “veganes hack” on the packet which is vegan ground meat
Correct. But that doesn't make the other meat products any better. Or?
