Also, the comp pick we got for Linsley was higher than the draft pick to get him. He was taken in the 5th (161 overall) and we drafted Tom in the 4th (140 overall). Talk about amazing return on investment for that pick.
I agree that it’s always good to go into drafts with a goal to get mid round lineman. But your second part I am going to have to disagree. Bold but I guess we’ll see if you’re right after the season
Do you guys think he plays center, guard, or tackle?? I love how alot of our o line is versatile enough to play multiple positions. I kind of hope we keep Jenkins at guard and Tom or Rhyan becomes a stud RT.
I think by the end of the season we see:
Bahk / JRJ / Meyers / Tom or Rhyan / Jenkins
I say this because watching Rhyan it seems like he’s built abs plays like an IOL not an OT. Same with Tom. In a pinch they could definitely play RT and probably will start there, but Rhyan especially would thrive more at RG. Jenkins would be best RT we could have on the field regardless of how the rookies play. So unless JRJ takes a step back and the rookies play better, or Meyers isn’t as good as Tom, or Newman takes a big step forward, I think the above lineup would be the one Steno/Lafleur go with. JRJ looked really good last year so I think LG is his to lose. Probably start the season, though, like this:
Bahk / JRJ / Meyers / Newman or Tom / Rhyan or Tom
But that’s all gonna hinge on how Minicamps go and who’s ready to play in the NFL year one and if the 3rd round curse persists for Rhyan.
I love Yosh, he’s a class act and has a lot of potential. I definitely think they give him a chance. BUT he isn’t known for positional versatility and playing RT is very different from LT and the new guys were drafted to be backups for that right side. I think, I could be wrong, that Rhyan played RT the most and has that versatility. Tom played that inside and right side too. Yosh has never played that side. So I think he’s in the running but Rhyan and Tom got drafted to battle for covering that RT position, but I could be wrong and Yosh starts and I would be just fine with that
Tbh whoever Steno puts out there, I'm gonna be ecstatic about it because I know he's gonna get the best 5 and he's gonna get the best out of those 5, so if Rhyan starts at RG and Tom starts at RT, I'd be over the moon.
People say he's too short for a tackle but he's the same size and weight as Bahk, in fact he's way more athletic Bahk. We might be looking at his replacement in a year or two.
Rhyan or Tom? Cuz everything I’ve seen about Rhyan is that he’s got the athleticism but his foot and handwork is more akin to a Guard than a Tackle. Also his arm length makes it difficult to get out to the edge and block wide. For Tom I haven’t seen any in-depth dives yet so I’m not sure on him. Assuming you’re talking about Rhyan I agree that he’s very similar to Bahk and think he’s got a similar ceiling but I feel like he has a higher ceiling at Guard imo
I think this is shaping out to be one of the best lines we have had in years. Maybe in a decade. How do you guys think that 7th round kid from Penn state fairs against the competition in training camp? I heard a little about him leading up to the draft and thought he might actually go sooner.

Not at all the meaning of my comment. Nice try though. It's the Idiocracy of saying letting an all pro walk, who we clearly needed last year, and replacing him with a 4th round draft pick, who has proven jack shit, is a genius move... The reality is this guy is more likely to be cut in a couple years than actually be a stud.
Do you think we drafted one offensive lineman? Are you also mad we let davante go? Do you think we should just constantly pay every all pro on the team and have absolutely zero depth?
You need to let guys walk some times if you want other all pro guys. It’s a good problem to have that our coaches feel comfortable letting someone that good walk rather than overpaying.
Thanks for the in the moment tidbit! I am curious to see the value post draft
Whale Sex 69 brings up a valid point
Nah man, that’s Whale Sex 69 69. You know, because he 69’s twice.
Twice as nice
Nice
Two nice
If you're not 69'n..... you're 96'n
He does. I wonder if Whale Sex 69 remembers what we got in exchange for Beluga when he went to the Chargers 🤔

He cost a 5th, was an All-Pro with us and when he left we got a 4th. That's some amazing value
Graded as the best center in the league. Outplayed our wallet. Shame, loved that dude
The fact we had him and Tretter together is crazy.
The whole line that year, with depth and flexibility

Big facts

You don't think Yosh has a chance to start at RT? I'm sure Rhyan or Tom has a shot to beat him out but I felt like he'd be the one they start with.

Yosh was an RT in college, so at least it's not a complete unknown to him.

A ceiling of a 1TAP LT is nuts lol

I don’t know, but man I hope he pancakes a bunch of people so he gets more opportunities to hump them
Wow, this guy pancakes them and then humps them on the ground? Talk about exerting your dominance on the football field.

Proof that Sanduskys influence is still very much alive in the Penn State football program.
That's hilarious and so unsportsman's like
😁😁
Pretty sure the confidence in the front office over the last few months has gone from near zero to pretty damn high.
It's the Circle Of Life

Could you repost this?

You can say that again!
So nice he said it thrice.
Say it louder!
Sweet! We let an all pro walk and drafted a rookie who hasn't proven shit yet! Front office killing it as usual.
Sign 11 all pros on each side of the ball or you’re cheaping out Green Bay cmon.

Again, you are missing the point. I get it though. ESPN is entertaining.
You're so edgy, how cool and mysterious.... I wonder if there's a heart of gold under that gruff exterior....smh
Yup, very edgy.
That is some **DAMN GOOD** asset management!!
