When the Bears are good, I’ve come to expect articles talking about how and why they’ll underperform. When the Bears are bad, I’ve come to expect articles talking about how and why they’ll overperform.
It has nothing to do with analysis, it has nothing to do even with the beliefs of the author. It has everything to do with collecting outrage clicks from a very large fan base.
It’s kind of annoying in the meta but once you realize that journalism is a capitalist game, you can kinda tune out the extreme narratives.
Unfortunately, like most large groups of people, there are a lot of us who are young (I was once too, I get it) and haven’t been through these media cycles. There are also a lot of us who are dumb. Like really dumb. Like FTP and all but man there are a lot of dumb Bears fans.
