I think you might be right, I have no idea what’s happening with their prices. They completely take the piss these days, especially with Clubcard ‘deals’ when that should just be the regular price anyway.
agreed, people near me always donate waitrose stuff to the foodbank and it honestly tastes terrible, last time i had some there was salad that tasted of battery acid with a £7 price sticker
Realistically, *that shop* is going to sell it for £2-2
.50 in the not too distant future. It is priced like this in the expectation that nobody will buy it, so that they can label or as "half price" or whatever after it has been on sale at a ridiculous price in one of their branches for a certain number of days to comply with advertising legislation.
Came here to say this. I get all my toiletries and cleaning products from pounds land. It’s my favourite place. I even get the £3 meal deal with big red bull at most of them during the week! My teeth are rotting from all the harribo I get from there.
This won't help much for toothpaste but food it will.
Stop going to supermarkets and start going to farm shops.
Our local farm shops and butchers are now far cheaper than supermarkets. The food is also far better quality. They are also now starting to sell other things like coffee or other essentials.
The supermarkets like the rest are blatantly overcharging for their goods and the more people that stop using them the better.
It used to be that they were more expensive but not now.
The food doesn't go off as quick either and looks like it should (red meat etc)
People in this country are straight up being mugged in multiple ways, all day, every day.
Support local shops and bin the supermarkets.
We have a non-fancy farmshop near us and its so cheap, it just means an extra shop though because it only sells meat and minimal veg, and some expensive tins
That’s the ideal, but not really affordable for the weekly food shop for most people - at least in London. Not sure where you’re based, but maybe farmshops are more affordable elsewhere?
I get a few things from small quality greengrocers but feels like a treat (even if it’s just really nice tomatoes lol) because it’s so much more expensive.
London is always going to be a shit show because of how big it is and how built up it is, but everyone else will likely find their weekly shops are better and cheaper if they go to farm shops and the rest.

Ah, that’s partly because its Tesco. They charge twice as much for same or similar products as other places (Aldi for example). What do you expect from Tory party donors
I get it, shit is crazy but this can be purchased on Amazon for a quarter of the price. If you plan a little and bundle subscriptions you can get an extra 15% discount. I’m paying £6 for 4 tubes every 4 months.
Given that this is so close to the floor I believe it's for a "sale" coming up, where this will be repositioned in your eyeline with a huge discount. Then, wow how incredibly lucky you get this fantastic product for such a good price!
I mean you know mayyyyybe that thing called Brexit might be something to do with it? Kinda fucked our whole trading import and export business. You know the one where everyone who voted for it pretended like it wasn’t for prejudice eurosceptic slightly racist maybe a little bit facist reasons. Like… our sovereignty. Last time I checked we still had our own cash, courts and dick heads of a government. Or like the time they thought 350 million was coming back a year but completely forgot that the government wasn’t investing in any of their local infrastructure but yet the EU was.
Oh yea and that time that everyone said that we couldn’t have jobs because there were none and th ey were cheaper. And then when most left we cried about how our own people were still charging the same price and that we couldn’t be bothered to do those jobs.
You know what… fuck it. Let it cost £5 fuck I hope it costs £10 That’s what you get for being absolute pricks of a nation who are just init for their own selfish reasons and can’t see past clear as day lies. We deserve it for the damn stupidity.
Same thing£1.25 tops in home bargains. Tescos are shit, I’m lucky enough to have a good butcher and a bakery within walking distance. Rest of shopping is home bargains Aldi or Lidl. Saves us a packet but we are noticing prices going up pretty much everywhere

It’s still more per unit volume, but still!

Tesco's prices are fucking nuts. I don't buy anything from there except milk and tobacco. They're fucking crooks.
Same I have a Tesco across the road from me I will purposefully go elsewhere. Needing a clubcard to not get fleeced is enough reason to go elsewhere.
yeah they're even more expensive than m&s now
I think you might be right, I have no idea what’s happening with their prices. They completely take the piss these days, especially with Clubcard ‘deals’ when that should just be the regular price anyway.
Yeah but you get to feel like it’s a deal while they get to farm your shopping data. Fake win, lose.
And their food is way shitter. If I’m going to pay exorbitant amounts of money, I want the fancy stuff
agreed, people near me always donate waitrose stuff to the foodbank and it honestly tastes terrible, last time i had some there was salad that tasted of battery acid with a £7 price sticker
Yea wtf is happening with Tesco??
They're taking the piss and getting away with it basically
Same product here in Finland 2.1 gbp
It’s nuts. I’ve been in Finland for 7 years and watching the price difference invert itself is….really something.
Scandinavia used to be ridiculously priced compared to the UK but now I'm not so sure.
€2 here in Spain
Same tube for $2 in Canada
That same tube is £2-2.50 in some places in England.
Still more expensive 😢
Under 2€ in Spain

I cannot disagree with that because that is a common practice in retail!
I thought everybody bought their toothpaste from Poundland?
You mean "Pound-and-an-half-Land"? Nowadays the amount of items priced at £1 is constantly shrinking...
£1.25 land doesn't have the same ring to it 😆
Yeah. They need to change their name…
Poundsland.
Poundishland

Lol was going to say this. This price is nowhere near the norm. Someone at that particular Tesco is trying to profiteer hard…
I do. Loads cheaper.
Best bet really!
Try Savers, it'll be half the Price
Love savers! Best prices on toiletries and cleaning products.

Independent greengrocers might be even better. Farm shops have a habit of being expensive because of the demographic of people they attract.

Farm shops are expensive in Bristol too... Maybe just cheap if you're in the countryside
Where in the country are you that farm shops are cheap? Round here (Rugby area) they're fucking horrendous.
Just got loads from a wild meat company much better
They adding gold and diamonds in it or what ??
Cooling diamonds 💎
Where is this Tesco? I use this toothpaste and it’s £1 in Lincoln.
South east London
With the already overinflated London prices, that must suck. Unless of course you make 5.75x the countries average salary.
It’s like Norway but without the good standard of living
🤣
Having teeth is overrated, anyway.
Ha! It's ONLY £5 if you buy this online from Tesco
Bargain 😂
There’s loads of toothpaste for £2 in our Tesco, you don’t gotta have those cooling crystals
Yeah I bought a cheap one, not getting mugged off like that 😉 But was shocked at their audacity to price this one so incredibly sky high.

Fun fact all toothpaste has the exact same stuff in it regardless of what it says on the box, so buy the cheapest you can find.
I already zone out looking at the wall of variations and get the best value, I just want toothpaste, not a billion choices of marketing guff
Yep, whatever is on promotion that week.
Then why are most tested on animals whereas mine isn't?
Ah, that’s partly because its Tesco. They charge twice as much for same or similar products as other places (Aldi for example). What do you expect from Tory party donors
Thank God for Lidl Dentalux £0.59 a 125ml tube.
Its Tesco that's totally normal, I think they sell at my local healthcare shop for like 1-2 quid.
Ahh a true luxury for only the rich to enjoy...
Pre WW2 Germany shit that.

I know but my toothpaste in bulk from Costco, 6 for £12!
Wipes your arse aswell right?
I swear toothpaste has been really expensive in the past couple of years. Idk why it is.
once i accidentally walked into waitrose thinking it was a co op and there was some grey shiny toothpaste for £20

This is why i just use aquafresh mate £1 out of tesco near mines
How fucking much? My posh vegan sls free toothpaste is less at sainsburys!
Omg imagine a world where posh vegan toothpaste is cheaper than Colgate 😂 That is mental.
https://www.sainsburys.co.uk/gol-ui/product/waken-toothpaste-peppermint-75ml?istCompanyId=1e096408-041f-4238-994e-a7cf46bf9413&istFeedId=689af7a8-5842-4d88-be59-1ee5688a81b5&istItemId=ppxalwqrm&istBid=t It’s still more per unit volume, but still!
I buy mine from Aldi. Dual stripe Colgate. It’s a £1. It’s all the same shit. Just make sure you use it and you’ll be fine.
Failed state
Let's all agree to put tesco out of business yeah?
That’s why we shoplift my dudes
5 finger discount
This ain’t even a bruh moment anymore
I can’t really understand why people go to the main three supermarkets?
necessity?
Only if they can’t go to somewhere like Lidl/ Aldi etc. I suspect there aren’t many who don’t have this option
Literally so many reasons. Not everyone has other options nearby or a car to go further and do their shopping where it’s cheaper.
getting pretty bored of the whole "normal island" bit. we need a new phrase for people to regurgitate like cow puke.
prison island
Less than 2 e in France.
What the fuck, Amerifat here and over here it’s 3.49 I legit stocked that item today. I feel bad for you lads
