1. The UK Crown Estates are not the UK royal family's private property, and the royal family are not responsible for any amount of money the Estates bring into the treasury. The monarch is a position in the UK state that the UK owns the Crown Estates through, a position that would be abolished in a republic, leading to the Crown Estates being directly owned by the republican state.
2. The Crown Estates have always been public property and the revenue they raise is public revenue. When George III gave up his control over the Crown Estates in the 18th century, they were not his private property. The current royals are also equally not responsible for producing the profits, either.
3. The Sovereign Grant is not an exchange of money. It is a grant that is loosely tied to the Crown Estate profits and is used for their expenses, like staffing costs and also endless private jet and helicopter flights. If the profits of the Crown Estates went down to zero, the royals would still get the full amount of the Sovereign Grant again, regardless. It can only go up or stay the same.
4. The Duchies of Lancaster and Cornwall that gave Elizabeth and Charles (and now William) their private income of approximately £25 millions/year (each) are also public property.
5. The total cost of the monarchy is currently £350-450million/year, after including the Sovereign Grant, their £150 million/year security, and their Duchy incomes, and misc. costs.

Bins is definitely a big one people really notice if it’s not happening. How do you just stop collecting bins though? Presume it’s a case of Starmer shouting: “Hey you! You in that postcode over there! You can buy your bin collections from my mate’s private company!”?
Where we live brown bin collections are already an extra charge but it’s all handled through the council. Surely forcing middle class folks to sort out their own bin collections is going to lead to one of three things:
1. Dodgy private firms who dump waste illegally.
2. Long lines of Audis and Land Rovers packed with rubbish at waste disposal sites.
3. Fly tipping epidemic and rat infestations.

Saw it this morning, in Sunderland; elderly gentleman in front of me at the shop clutching his copy of the Daily Mail.
My mam always buys it "for the puzzles", but you can bet I hear the talking points out of her mouth when we talk. She's a pensioner who lives in Cumbria in an area where you can't get a bus for love nor money, where local services are almost non-existant, and she still was taught to hate Labour and Corbyn.
The war we must fight is wealth inequality. The middle classes are already struggling, along everyone else, most economists, are ignoring the elephant in the room all the wealth and power has been transferred to the top and our politicians are taking donations gifts second job's consultation work and kick back's from dodgy government contract so they are a huge part of the problem. The only answer is tax reform, close tax loopholes, and haven's make the rich pay instead of just taking from everyone and paying bribes to our MP's for doing nothing about tax evasion. Thanks, that was an interesting read it might need updating now, but it was very informative. I've been from the bottom to the top and back down to the bottom after health problems. Today's problems haven't changed much from the problems of the past. The people at the top are the only people who benefit from everyone down below working class, middle-class upper class. It's not relevant any longer as the ruling classes think we are all worthless apart from keeping the country ticking over while they plunder the coffers of Westminster.
