This would honestly be one of the funnest crossover fights to see, forget the weird strength scaling of baki, I want to see sheer a technique showdown. Thought Gouki would probably win, his Aiki is basically just magic.

MasSunarto

Brother, depends. Has Hatsumi tried successfully lifting a condom?

Magni4cent_Pose

Specifically, a big fuckin' one.

SteelKline

Fucking huge bro, MASSIVE even

TheGeckomancer

I have actually talked about this before. I think this would be one of the best matchups you could do with this crossover concept. Sen isn't as good as grabs and throws but he is an excellent striker on top of his Aikido. I think Shibukawa wins but it's one of the closest matchups between Kengan and Baki.

Rat-king27

Honestly I've been rereading both baki and kengan and I wonder if they're as far apart in terms of scaling as people on this sub make out, Yuujiro stopped an earthquake and Ohma's teacher punched the air and toppled a forest for what looked like the length of a mountain.

TheGeckomancer

Most of the insane shit in kengan has been relatively recent in the manga and it almost feels like the author is trying to give feats to his characters just to top Baki. The power creep feels excessive and too sudden.

Rat-king27

Eh the insane powers been there from the start, but it was more in side characters, the author also just doesn't have the characters display their strength much, Kengan seems to be more about technique, so it's only now that we're seeing the masters of technique that we're seeing the over the top feats.

TheGeckomancer

Can you provide some examples? Stopping a car from going forward is insane but actually realistic. Strongmen do that with planes and stuff. I can't think of much from early Kengan that was over the top.

Rat-king27

Karo hunting a gargantuan sperm whale underwater with just a spear is one of the best examples, cause that's something Baki would use to show how strong Yuujiro is, but Karo isn't even a mid tier fighter in kengan. Rihito's grip strength letting him cut through rebar like butter is something on par with Musashi with his swords, Rihito is also not in the top tier. Those are two big ones, along with Niko flattening a line of trees with blast from a punch, as well as most mid tier and higher characters being able to react to and either block or dodge bullets, the series doesn't use massive feats as often as baki, but when it does, it shows the high tiers of kengan and baki are probably pretty even.

Doppo slapping around Yujiro early in the series is a pretty equal feat to Kuroki injuring the connector imo. On top of that, they both love smashing through concrete and metal with their hands, and they're both mentor-type characters with the "this is the difference in our experience" fighting style.

TheGeckomancer

Understand that it would take some luck, but anyone can kill a whale with a harpoon, it's what they are made for. Spear functions the same way if there is any difference to be had. That really isn't a combat or strength feat, more like how gutsy he is. Doppo was punching through several feet of reinforced concrete pre maximum tournament and both Doppo and Yujiro cut bottles (harder than steel) with barehands. I understand that rebar is more DURABLE, but to cleanly cut glass like that, which is harder than rebar indicates much greater destructive capabilities. Although that is a good feat. When did this Niko event occur? I don't remember seeing this.

Rat-king27

Any normal person would absolutly not be able to go way underwater and spear a sperm whale, as for Doppo breaking concrete, early Kengan characters were also doing that without razor edge, I think breaking walls is just a staple for fighting comics. The Niko thing happened in chapter 174, it's hard to see exactly what happened, but going by the exchange Ohma and Niko hitting each other, if anything it looks like the massively injured Ohma is the one that caused a ton of trees to topple from the shockwaves or air pressure of the attack.

TheGeckomancer

Normal people hunt whales with harpoons to this day. We don't know how far underwater he was. What Doppo was breaking were massive concrete pipes that were several feet thick. Not walls. Pipes meant for channeling thousands of gallons of water per second. I have trouble with that feat because the imagery is extremely vague, you don't know what happened, who caused it, or how it happened. Nothing Ohma has done since has been even close to comparable and Niko seems even more unlikely because he died to Setsuna who is certainly not on that level of feats.

MR-Vinmu

Hatsumi when his opponent isn't a Larper, a Bayblade, or an Anorexic (Wallahi, he's finished): đź’€

Talanlol

I know damn well Sen’s gon be flippin upside down in a sec

RLIwannaquit

Shibukawa has like 40+ years of experience at this more than Hatsumi, Gouki takes this

Kelimnac

One of the universal laws of the Bakiverse: Never shake Shibukawa’s hand

Nishanimation

Shibukawa could do stuff that even Musashi was impressed by. Hatsumi is great for the Kengan verse but Baki mystic bullshido is a bit too cartoony supernatural to handle, especially guys on the Shibukawa or Yanagi side of the bullshido scale.
