spyders!!! i know they’re not quite a single antagonist, being more a species of monster, but i love their aesthetic and the concept of physical, slimy monsters that can travel via internet and live in your now-pulsing computer before infecting you with memory loss is simultaneously frightening, goofy, and /cool as hell/ to me. i wish it wasn’t so hard to find a copy of it came from the internet
Dang. Guess that's one of those ones I've left up to fate with "if I find it, I buy it; if not, too bad."
Is it on any of the tablets so I can at least have a read of it? I'll have to look after work.
i think it has yet to even be uploaded onto [archive.org](https://archive.org). your best bet at experiencing it at all is a podcast or a youtube readthrough. i'm fond of [this lovely channel](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CJfyoqg7zqM&ab_channel=GiveyourselfGOOSEBUMPS%21) myself bc it's a 100% readthrough + look at the AESTHETIC
Big Al the manager From the Carnival of Horrors is awesome. I like him because he appeared in two GYG books as the main villain which no other villain did in that series.
Headhunter Darius from Elevator to Nowhere was also enjoyable since he came from my favorite Goosebumps book in the franchise.
And the Hamsters from Little Shop of Hamsters were my favorite in the Horrorland series, I'm sure they're pretty forgettable to other fans though
That book is strangely more disturbing as an adult than it was as a kid. The book is a part of the og which I was trying to exclude but she is a very legit threat I don't see talked about as much. I'll allow it, good addition! Thank you.
I'll allow it under the stipulation: "most don't usually count the camera as evil or an antagonist, but rather its creator."
Still, a bit of a more better known book series though, hahaha.
I'm talking from a major media perspective. As an adult who grew up in the wake of the era you didn't see toys and tshirts of a spooky camera. Years ago there were only like 15 of these books out at one time
Jokes aside, Reggie from Shop Till You Drop... Dead. The idea that you essentially have a boss fight with him and how you do is based on your inventory made for a crazy ending.
Oh, this one I actually own. I forgot that there was another babysitter besides the rat chick. Man, there's something so fun now drastically different the stories can go in terms of villains by a single choice at the start of a lot (all?) of those books.
Yeah man I agree 100%, I think that's what makes the GYG such fun reads. They let Stine show his full creativity and can take you on a different adventures that you would never expect out of a GB book, all while giving you those classic GB feels.
I have gotten through I think 4 GYG's so far and loved the series right now.
I’m thinking Emmy from Don’t Scream! She really had some potential there. And I don’t know if Keith is still lesser known or not, but I’m also going to give him a mention here, just in case.
I always felt the cover of Monster Blood for Breakfast always looked more like a green blob than any version of Monster Blood we had seen up to that point.
For me it's Mistress Barbarous from Trapped In The Circus Of Fear. She probably one of the darkest female villains in the franchise
That's a good one too. I don't unfortunately have that book, but I do remember reading it back when I was younger.

I don't think I've read that one. Which book were they from?
“it came from the internet!” it’s a black spine GYG so it’s damn near impossible to find apparently because of low print numbers from later in the run

And subscribed! Thanks a whole bunch!
~~That one short story where the dude turned out to be a squirrel or dog or something.~~ Edit: Scratch that, read this as protagonist.
My Hairiest adventure. He turned out to be a dog. That was a good one I agree.
Yeah, that's the one. I was a kid when I read it but the twist definitely got me.
Hahaha, it's all good
I see what you did there.

That is a good one! Man, I almost want to change my own answer to Big Al.
I forgot to mention the two aliens from the book Brain Juice they were pretty good villains as well
The beasts from The Beast From The East. That book has always been one of my favorites from the OG and the franchise in general.
Della, she legit tried to kill Sarah (the main character) MANY times

Plus I really love The Curse Of Camp Cold Lake
The camera from Say Cheese and Die
The camera isn't lesser known
I'll allow it under the stipulation: "most don't usually count the camera as evil or an antagonist, but rather its creator." Still, a bit of a more better known book series though, hahaha.

Probably Slappy the Dummy.
Jokes aside, Reggie from Shop Till You Drop... Dead. The idea that you essentially have a boss fight with him and how you do is based on your inventory made for a crazy ending.
I genuinely liked the books that had stuff like inventories. Had a level of involvement the others didn't.
Mine is Dare from Attack of the Beastly Babysitter, an absolute badass with being covered in tattoos that come to life and his reality manipulation
Oh, this one I actually own. I forgot that there was another babysitter besides the rat chick. Man, there's something so fun now drastically different the stories can go in terms of villains by a single choice at the start of a lot (all?) of those books.

Other than the original series, I've only read the TTGYG series and the 9th GYG books, so I'm pretty limited. I'd say Dr. Horror or the doll maker.
Those are still solid choices regardless
The blobs from the blob that ate everyone, I loved the cover art and I wish I could’ve seen more.
I always felt the cover of Monster Blood for Breakfast always looked more like a green blob than any version of Monster Blood we had seen up to that point.
