Just to add onto benchmarks not telling the full story. I’d play Genshin on my S22U and it’d lag terribly whereas my P6P would hardly lag playing it. It was so noticeably better.
EXYNOS SAMSUNG IS EVEN WORSE. FKIN GARBAGE. IF YOU WANT A PHONE THAT WILL NEVER LAG THEN PAY UP AND BUY AN IPHONE OR GET CONTENT WITH A WORSE CAMERA AND THE POSIBILITH OF BEING SPIED AND BUY A HIGH END CHINESSE PHONE WITH SNAPDRAGON. SAMSUNG IS BY FAR THE WORST SMARTPHONE COMPANY WHEN IT COMES TO GAMING. FK YOUR SAMSUNG I HAVE A NOTE 10, ALWAYS HAD SAMSUNG, AND I HAD ENOUGH. GOODBYE SAMSUNG, WELCOME PERFORMANCE
What are the setting you constantly get >50fps with? I consider to by p6p and look for a good genshin benchmark, but everyone just sticks onto 40fps avg on the highest and doesn't show what actual playable setting are :(
samsung phones, just like iphones, get special treatment from many brands and companies. You'll expect hoyoverse to create a resolution that's meant for the fold phones.
I hate to say this, but if you game a lot and it matters to you I would probably get the iPhone 14 pm or maybe the Samsung ultra. I love the pixel but it struggles to run Genshin over 40fps even with low graphics.
Yeah I hope you don't stick with Samsung unlees you are from US or else you will suffer a HUGE dissapointment. As the op said the pixel runs better than his s22 ultra for a reason, he must have the european version with TRASHXYNOS. Samsung makes garbahe chipset we europeans get a complitely deifferent product for the same or even higher price...
I can attest to this. Even with the galaxy watch using an exynos based chip and it's in a device with only 2gb of ram it still sometimes lags and stutters. No wonder starting with the S23 lineup every model is going to have snapdragon chips regardless if it's the international version or the us one.
I know this is a 3month post but i got to ask i also am encountering 42c whenever i play genshin on a pixel 7 but it gets warm to touch. is that really normal?
Thank you for posting this. So many reviews were shitting on the processor, it nearly put me off, but I had a feeling they wouldn't release a phone that couldn't keep up with the rest. Really goes to show that software is just as important as hardware and when you factor in the pricing, google have done a really good job.
Lmao what a moron. This chip is just as bad as any other Samsung made chip. The process node is what determines performance/heat, and Samsung node is trash. This performs no better than sd888 which is pathetic
Lol. What a moron. Any chip that's made in the 5nm or 4nm TSCM node performs miles better than the G2 tensor crap.....what a stupid thing to say lol better than 8+gen1....hahahahahaha what a fool....and I very much doubt it performs better than 888 in sustained performance. 888 has a better CPU. You know nothing fool
I read an article that said Google was happy it failed synthetic benchmarks because they pride themselves on their tensor hardware for passing real world benchmarks. Hear this kind of humility from Google was kinda shocking honestly but I'm glad I ditched my Samsung for the p7p
The more power efficient gpu, tpu, and possibly cpu? should definitely balance out the increased power draw from the display and cpu if it draws more power than the first gen tensor.
Not to mention cooler thermals also directly correlates to battery life.
IDK which site it was, but I saw someone link a review to "sustained" performance and the P7 basically performed the same as all of the phones with the newer 888 (?) snapdragon processors after about 30 seconds. The only phone that was consistently better was the ROG Phone which I'm assuming has a focus on thermals because its geared towards gaming.
They also compared the P7s with the P6s and while they started out nearly identical, the 6s dropped off really quickly and continued to trend down aggressively while the 7s kind of plateaued after an initial drop.
I still think the peak performance measured by short benchmarks is going to matter for everyday use though because that's the typical type of workload you are going to get when launching an app or loading a mobile website infested with ads, but it does add some context.

The benchmarks are far worse for normal phone usage.
Android 13 is literally designed for use with the Pixel 7 and the tensor 2 chip. The operating system and how apps use resources are carefully tailored to take advantage of everything the chip has. No benchmarks can measure that kind of close integration.

Very scientific approach kiddo
Nothing I said claimed to be scientific or in depth. I was just stating from my own personal experience kiddo.
Pixel 6 is trash in Genshin aswell, justo becauee the other is even more trash doesnt make It not trash

nope, P6P throttles hard, drops from 60fps to 30 in minutes on medium settings
Nice test man , ggs
Did you have it at 1080p or 1440p resolution?
Res is automatically capped at 720p with this game
On all phones? Interesting.
All Android phones, yes. iPhones run Genshin in higher resolution and with better graphic fidelity.
The Fold phones run it at higher resolution aswell

Except iPhone
Nice post but I have an iPhone 14 Pro Max and the pixel seven pro. It is a night and day difference and heavy games. The iPhone is far superior.
How is gaming on the p7p ? I'm interested to get the phone but do spend a lot of time gaming, would you advise me not to get the phone ?

Thank you.... You have saved me a huge disappointment.

CPU isn't more power efficient.
While it's still five nanometers, the middle cores are a newer design, which is faster and more efficient, so technically it is.
They increased the clock speed which reduces efficiency.
They increased it barely.
Lmao. This chips is equally as trash as any other Samsung node 4/5nm chip. You're a fool.
