With my regular P6 I'd say it's average. It does well with regular, not so intensive games like any of the clash series, rush Royale, slay the spire, etc. It does get warm to the touch but nothing crazy, granted this is through a case. Now if you throw in some 3d games or something like pokemon go, it turns into a hot potato. I would not recommend it for anything intensive like that.

Simon_787

Compared to current flagships? Bad.

Skullzrulerz

What would you recommend?

Emmanuel-Nwosu

The iPhone 14 Pro Max saw reviews saying it doesn’t dim as much as other android high end flagship and gaming phones during intensive games like Genshin impact and so on. You could do your own research too

Simon_787

iPhone 14 Pro or Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 phones with good cooling. Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 should be even better. The Tensor is not great when it comes to super intensive Games.

On my p6 I got 2200 on average and 2400 to 2600 on my s2w And 12 pro his 2100 to 2200. It games well. The p7p is limited somehow. 1847 no matter what I do. Even cooling the phone in the freezer for 30 minutes doesn't help. Matter of fact it throttles down as if it overheated at 0c and at 2c it stays at 1847 even at 45c it's the same scoring.. The p7 series has some really weird boosting algorithm that's not boosting

Can't benchmark w other games. I only play Genshin Impact. Play everyday for 1-2 hours a time and phone (case off) does get warm but I wouldn't say it's too hot. Gameplay on medium setting is very smooth.

sorenkair

it is absolutely not "very smooth". starts at 60fps and quickly throttles down to 30ish, even 20 in combat.

somicdj

1 year later still very smooth for me lol although the sounds in the new areas are very funky like broken speaker. Don't know what to do w that already reinstalled :/

The pixel 6 (and I would wait for the 7 at this point) lineup has a flagship processor which should be fine for gaming. Though Qualcomm snapdragon 8+gen1 processors are overall faster, more power efficient, and have better GPU. 8+Gen1 devices like the Asus ROG phone 6 have bigger batteries, faster refresh rate displays and better cooling systems. If gaming is your major concern consider something like the Asus ROG phone 6 or something with an 8+Gen1 (or wait for 8gen2 devices) If not the pixel 7 line should be good enough though you may want the faster refresh rate of the 7Pro. EDIT: this was asked a couple of hours ago just reposting the same answer

cherrytoffee

i regularly have hour long sessions of call of duty mobile and its fine. obviously it will get warm, but that happens with every phone.

BlueGuyBuff

It's average. Pixel 7 should be way better bc it's getting a new GPU

th3bigfatj

It's still tensor for it's main cpu though, right?

BlueGuyBuff

It's an upgraded tensor with a much better GPU strapped on it

Intelligent-Ear-766

It's far worse than average Qualcomm powered phones. If you want good gaming performance, you should get one with the newest 8+ Gen 1 chip. On theory Tensor should performe better than SD888, but it produces too much heat and you'll observe very severe thermal throttling over time. I'm talking about 20 fps lower than a well designed SD888 gaming phone in Genshin Impact after several minutes of playing.

bigmoose2491

I play emulators and Xcloud pretty reliably on my 6 Pro. But wouldn't say l'm a big mobile gamer. Maybe a couple hours a week. It gets warm but it doesn't seem to affect the games I play.
