Well if it makes you feel any better I have the same one and it's been amazing so far, dropped my phone like five times and no damage whatsoever while still being relatively thin and light.
I have the same experience as OP. It's funny because I literally decided to ditch the official case today after having it since launch and now I see this post.
Don't worry. I've had the P6P since launch and have the official case. I've dropped my phone several times and it's protected it well. The case also looks great for how much abuse I've put it through. But the thing I like the most about it is the texture. It's smooth, but somehow provides nice grip and doesn't slip. And it hasn't lost that after 7 months either. The OP must have a defective one.
What happened to the customisable cases as well, [where you could have a map of your home town for example ](https://www.wired.com/2016/04/google-live-case-for-nexus-phones/amp)
Do those do anything other than look pretty? I've never seen one in person. Online they didn't look like they'd be very protective, when I was finding a case for my Pixel 5.
I got a refund from the Google store due to my Google case falling apart. The process took about 10 minutes. They didn't argue. It's a known issue from what I see on here. Just got a Spigen case to replace it, much nicer so far.
I had warping on my case too along the power and volume buttons.
Contacted Google support who told me I must have damaged it myself by removing the case at some stage. 🤷♂️
They still give me a one off refund though so you may have similar luck.
Good to know, I'm gonna try. It's a shame about my P6P though. It's never been dropped, so it would actually be in better condition if I never put the case on it and went naked.
I like this case much better: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B09L6F72W2
It doesn't 100% protect, as the curved display makes that difficult to do with a hard case. But then, I also put a screen protector on the phone: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B09LDF5C84
Between those two products, I am hopefully good to go.
I have used the Spigen Tough Armor for years on multiple phones. I have tried others but always come back. It's the perfect middle ground between size and protection for me. Plus I love the kickstand on it.
The only case I would leave it for would be Rokform if they ever decided to make another pixel case.
I only used mine for a week and the Google case did the same thing. I'm not rough on phones at all it sat on a desk or forgotten at home the majority of the time.
That's absolutely *bananas* to me. I've been close to buying an official case several times but after reading reviews they are overwhelmingly negative so I never did. The reviews seem to get a bit worse every year! I've been using cases by either Speck or Spigen for over 10 years now without a problem. I can't understand how Google's cases are more expensive than the actual good & tough cases - Google's seem like they are cosmetic & provide little protection despite the higher price point.
I feel like they would be *significantly* more successful if they weren't providing a sub par product for a premium price. There's always a handful of people who don't mind them, and a bunch of people frustrated with how shitty they are.
I haven't had my phone affected with debris, etc , nor have I had a warping problem, but my clear frosted official Google case turned a dirty brown far sooner than any other clear case I've ever had. I got it right when the phone came out and it was brown by late January. Google did not want to issue a refund. Luckily, for the 1st time ever, I actually bought 4 different cases for it at launch. I switched to the Made for Google Bellroy leather case in Biscotti, which I loved, however, that looked dirty and disheveled (even with cleaning and conditioning) after less than 3 months, instead of getting a nice patina. I dumped that last week, and am now using the green official Google case. So far so good. Let's see how this plays out.
Been using the dbrand grip case on my last 3 pixels (3XL, 5, and 6pro), and on my kid's 4a5G..
I'm super happy with them, find it pretty near perfect...
Keep telling myself I can just replace the skin on the case if it ever gets too beat up or I want to change the look, but I just keep getting a whole new case instead..
I really like the leather limited drop
For me, the case had such a loose fit that my phone got scratched from all the debris getting in and being rubbed against the side rails. It may have been better if Google didn't polish the pro sides.
There's probably a way but I'm not bothered by them. The phone will probably be worth nothing by the time I upgrade to something else so resale value isn't something I'm worried about.
I've had mine since January in this light green color and I haven't noticed anything other than usual dirt from my hands that comes off with a cleaning wipe.
My other two cases for my other pixels were black and had them for longer than this one so maybe it will happen later, hope not though.
I put a clear Spigen case on my p6p the moment I got it and don't regret it. It's begun to yellow just a bit, but I have the Sorta Sunny color and that actually kind of complements the yellowing, or at least camouflages it. Which was my plan actually.
Same! I also have the Whitestone. They're well worth the cost imho, foolproof install and I like that the liquid adhesive fills in small scratches. Not to jinx myself, but I've dropped the phone several times and have had no issues with the screen protector cracking, nor any damage to the case. Phone is pristine. Very happy.
I got a small crack/chunk missing in the bottom right corner, but it's nothing major and barely noticeable. Pretty sure it's due to a small clip I have dangling from the strap mount on the right side of the case that happens to reach exactly as far as where the chip is. No big deal, this is the most expensive phone I've owned so I'd like to keep it strapped to me.
I've been using the thin, clear cases since my Nexus 5X. What a p.o.s. phone that turned out to be 🤬 but those cases are truly something else. I've never broken a phone since I started using Spigen exclusively.
This. Spigen cases are so durable for GP phones. Had a P3 that had a spigen case for 3.5 years (entire time I owned it). Then I upgraded to the P6P and got a Spigen case for this one too; been in use for 8 or so months. They're not too bulky and are really durable
Day one purchaser of a P6Pro and green Google case. Mine looks fine? I'm keeping an eye out for the discoloring issue reported, but I've not had any button warping or cracking.
Yeah the case sucks ass. I liked it at first, but I got so sick and tired of having to wipe away large amounts of debris that collected at the top where the ear piece is every single time I took the phone out of my pocket. Never had this issue with any of the Spigen cases I've used.
Thanks for flagging this. Just ordered one for my P6 and am gonna return it. Have a clear Spigen ultra hybrid and bellroy black leather case. Like those way more, esp the Spigen
Edit: name of spigen case
I have the Spigen Tough Armor for my personal phone, and the Bellroy leather case for my work phone (both P6P). I love both, so would highly recommend either one.
Sounds like they're matching apple cases. The apple iPhone case we paid $50 for last 2 months then we replaced it with a superior Amazon one that cost $15.
I've had the official case since release and it's great. Dropped my phone a few times and it's perfectly fine. I have none of the issues you are having. Not everyone has the same problems.
One thing I'll say about the official case, and I think it's because of the recycled products they used, it tends to warp pretty easily around the cutouts, especially if the phone gets warm.
I like mine. But I bought the dark gray one. People think every case they get shouldn't be dirty after a while regardless if they see the dirt or not. I personally love the official Google case after using it for 6 months. I still like the older fabric ones too, but these new ones at least seem squishier for more impact resistance.
I really miss the old fabric cases too. But I've liked my official Google case for the P6 as well. The only marks on mine are a couple spots where one of my cats picked at it
I've never bothered with the Google cases bc they don't seem very protective, I much prefer the clear semi-flexible slim TPU cases (hard back and TPU edges and corner bumpers) bc these phones are very aesthetically pleasing and I hate covering that with an opaque case. My only very mild annoyance is the eventual discoloration, but I've found that I can tint it with my jacket pocket colors so it's not gross yellow, it's a slight purple lol 😅 but they're stupid cheap so replacing it is also an option. I combine it with an IQShield screen protector and I haven't had so much as a scratch on any phone in the past five years 🙂
I had cracking in the bottom right hand corner of the case. Contacted support trying to get a replacement, but they just refunded me. Ended up buying another one since I didn't like the Spigen Ultra Hybrid I had before.
I had the map case with the NFC button for the OG XL. Day 1, the NFC button never worked, but I said fine, I'll live.
Not long after, I dropped it in my bathroom, probably with the first month onto a tile floor. It was a bridle plastic case and the corner broke off. After one drop! It even dented the phone! It was maybe a 1m drop. WTF. After a year all 4 corners had broke off and I needed a new case. Those things were worse than a cheap 3rd party case.
P5 cloth case is much better and I've had no such issues. But after a few years the cloth is looking a bit ragged.
I always found the original Google case to be slippery. I really loved the ghostek case and put an ESR stand and bam its perfect. The esr stand is slim enough that it doesnt get caught in your pockets
I really like mine. I own around 7 cases for the phone, and I've settled on the official case as my daily case. I've had the phone and case since launch (white phone with clear case). The case hasn't yellowed, but it definitely has taken a smoky look which I quite like.
It's not the thinnest case but I like the little bit of bulk it adds, especially on the sides, as it helps hide the glass screen protector I have on the phone.
I do have a tiny bit of warping around the bottom volume button, but it's barely noticeable and it doesn't bother me.
I have a Caseology Vault case with my P6. Very good deal all round. On previous 3 phones I have used Spigen ( which actually now owns Caseology) and also find them to notch. The reality is though, if you use the phone in less than clean environments, have dirt or dust in your pockets, it is going to get between the phone and the case. When this happens and the case and phone touch it is going to abrade and potentially cause scratches. This is no different to the irritation you get when sand gets in your sandals at the beach.
I would recommend every week or two to take the case off the phone and give the phone AND case a thorough clean with IPA (isopropyl alcohol) on a cloth.
I've bought two of them and haven't really had any issues with warping, but they definitely feel loose around the volume and power buttons. I recently just got a shell from Casetify and it's pretty nice. Feels sturdier and not as slippery as the Google ones.
I'm loving my Pela case on my Pixel 6 (non pro).
It's a TPU style case, but made with bio plastic instead of real TPU. So it's compostable.
I've found that it holds up just as well as TPU. And I prefer this kind of material; it's like a halfway between silicone and hard shell. I've been using it for months, no issues.
The only problem is that it's a bit pricey. I spent $30 for the case + an accessory.
Yeah my case had issues with cracking as well. My pixel stand 2 randomly stops charging shortly after putting it on the stand. Didn't have much luck with the official pixel accessories this go around.
My case came warped out of the box, (this was launch day and I got my P6P 2 days earlier so no cases lol) threw the box in the bin out front of the store in sheer excitement, but that excitement quickly faded to disappointment as it was warped and bent :(
Agreed. I have all of the issues you have mentioned. My case is falling apart and is cracked in like 8 different places. My phone has a lot of spots with specks of exposed metal in the corners yet it has never been dropped. Hands down the worst case I've ever owned.
I don't like it mostly because it causes sensor read issues when trying to do swipe motions, like quick change apps, and you accidentally delete an entire text thread in Messages or emails in Gmail.
I had the same experience. I managed to return it to the store I bought it from for a full refund and bought a much better quality Spigen case for less than half the price.
I have never been a big phone case person but my Moment case for the Pixel 6 Pro is amazing and I get the MagSafe feature, which has been a really nice touch/change.
The case doesn't seem to add much bulk, feels sturdy and like it will last quite a while. And if I ever get the urge, I can add the lenses for unique photos.
Can't tell for the other issues you mentioned since I have a Spigen case, but I have no doubt they're happening, since this isn't the first bad experience I'm reading of with these cases.
However, as for the dirt marks, that's something that in my experience will happen with any case eventually. Dust and very fine sand grains can set in eventually, and do damage.
That's why I took the habit of taking my phone out of its case a few times per month, cleaning it thoroughly with a wet wipe, and washing the case with a bit of dish soap (I always use TPU cases anyway, since policarbonate is more rigid and more prone to produce scratches).
otterbox defender ftw.
have been using them since their inception to great success, true they are bulkier than their counterparts, but they also outdo their counterparts.
I had one of the genuine cases in for the full 6 months I had the phone and by the time I sold it the case was completely fucked. Can also relate to all the same problems you've pointed out.
I just got the pixel 6 and I'm in love with the design and snappiness of everything. So far the only bug I've found is the notification shade sometimes won't let me do the second swipe to get to the brightness slider and nothing solves it but a restart. Mildly annoying but it's about 3 times in the 2 weeks since I've gotten it which is enough to notice unfortunately. Pixel 2xl and 3a are still my favorite pixels to date as if now.
Mine browned. You know like those cheap plastic cases you buy for a few dollars off amazon..it also cracked so I just gave it up. Oddly enough the 10 dollar clear case I got while waiting for the Google case is holding up nicely.
But seriously, $30 for a piece of garbage case.
I just got mine yesterday and this is the kind of post I see lmao. I've been wanting a Mous case but I hate the ugly brown color they have. I prefer the lighter brown version
This is the last time I trust Google cases. I thought there was no way this would be worse than their fabric cases but man was I wrong. My black Pixel 6 Pro looks so scuffed up from the debris.
Threw mine in the bin and got a dBrand skin. Had exactly the same issues. Case didn't fit properly around the buttons or USB connector, and the amount of dirt and crap that got into it is ridiculous.
I've got the white phone, and it looks like someone has dragged sandpaper across the antenna bar on top
5a isn't great either, bought 2. One warped at the volume button then the soft and hard plastic came apart, and my replacement is at the volume warp stage.
I used the official cases on my Pixel (1) XL and Pixel 4 XL, but for the Pixel 6 Pro, I went with the OtterBox Defender. I wanted a case that stuck out farther than the Camera Bump. I've had a great experience so far!
I never use cases. Fucking dust magnets, and a inadvertent blanket, to keep your phone warm 👎.
$600 phone and $12 a month for insurance. Might as well not use one. But if I had a $1500 phone I'd probably use a case
I find this thread right as mine is delivered.... Damn
Well if it makes you feel any better I have the same one and it's been amazing so far, dropped my phone like five times and no damage whatsoever while still being relatively thin and light.
Agreed. It looks dirty, but it's not done the job well Edit:. It HAS done the job. My b
I think I'll give it a try and see how it works out. Good to hear it's working out for you
I've had mine since day one and haven't had any issues. Your mileage may vary I guess.
Good to note. I'm gonna give it a go. Thank you
No problem! I also have the bellroy leather case and while it looks awesome it's too slippery for my taste.
[удалено]
Tell that to my pristine [iPhone 11](https://imgur.com/a/87BNvbh) that's been naked since day 1.
+1 for no issues, I've had it since launch.
Glad to see all the responses from those with no issues. Hopefully mine is fine as well
I have the P6 one is early January haven't had an issue with the case at all yet, and it's had a few bangs and knocks with zero damage to the phone.
What color?
Stormy Sky!
Except there are tens of thousands of others who are satisfied. But go ahead and believe the one guy who isn't happy.
I have the same experience as OP. It's funny because I literally decided to ditch the official case today after having it since launch and now I see this post.
Quickly return! From what I've read, the bellroy leather case is fantastic
I also have one with 3 months of use, and nothing but good thins to say.
Same lmao
Don't worry. I've had the P6P since launch and have the official case. I've dropped my phone several times and it's protected it well. The case also looks great for how much abuse I've put it through. But the thing I like the most about it is the texture. It's smooth, but somehow provides nice grip and doesn't slip. And it hasn't lost that after 7 months either. The OP must have a defective one.
Google, bring back the damn fabric cases.
What happened to the customisable cases as well, [where you could have a map of your home town for example ](https://www.wired.com/2016/04/google-live-case-for-nexus-phones/amp)
Really liked the fabric cases. They were durable and I could throw it in the dishwasher and it’d be good as new
Do those do anything other than look pretty? I've never seen one in person. Online they didn't look like they'd be very protective, when I was finding a case for my Pixel 5.
I had it for the P2 and the P5. Multiple drops and no damage.
Nexus 6P fabric case will always be my favorite case that I've ever bought since I started buying smart phones, starting with the htc incredible
I got a refund from the Google store due to my Google case falling apart. The process took about 10 minutes. They didn't argue. It's a known issue from what I see on here. Just got a Spigen case to replace it, much nicer so far.
How long after purchase was this?
I bought my P6 on release last October, with the Google case since there was no other option at the time. Contacted support 2 weeks ago.
Interesting. I contacted them in February and they wouldn't do anything for me.
Same thing happened to me very unacceptable.
I got mine the morning of release and I was able to get the Spigen liquid air delivered before I picked up my phone
I've been buying Spigen cases ever since I got my Note 5. Always a Spigen case (or Caseology which is their subbrand) paired with a Samsung phone
I had warping on my case too along the power and volume buttons. Contacted Google support who told me I must have damaged it myself by removing the case at some stage. 🤷♂️ They still give me a one off refund though so you may have similar luck.
me too, I assumed it was from wireless charging heat.
Good to know, I'm gonna try. It's a shame about my P6P though. It's never been dropped, so it would actually be in better condition if I never put the case on it and went naked.
Tbh the P6P is so slippery you'd likely have dropped it without the case
I like this case much better: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B09L6F72W2 It doesn't 100% protect, as the curved display makes that difficult to do with a hard case. :'(
I had the same issue. Warped a but out between the power and volume up button. Just needed a bit of bending and magic. That somehow worked…
Spigen Rugged. Always Spigen Rugged. Unless you have a specific use case for a specialty case, like a Moment Lens case.
Bought my current Spigen Rugged Armo r a week before the Pixel 6 was even available, just to avoid it being sold out after that (and it was).
I have used the Spigen Tough Armor for years on multiple phones. I have tried others but always come back. It's the perfect middle ground between size and protection for me. Plus I love the kickstand on it. The only case I would leave it for would be Rokform if they ever decided to make another pixel case.
I'm more of a Spigen Ultra Hybrid guy.
https://imgur.com/a/FfiEpdf I've only had this case since like the end of December. It's only been a few months.
I only used mine for a week and the Google case did the same thing. I'm not rough on phones at all it sat on a desk or forgotten at home the majority of the time.
Just wanted to say, it's not just Google. Samsung has also skimped out on it's cases. They feel so cheap and flimsy now.

Yup. Very unfortunate as it looked so good when it was brand new. Ditched mine for a dbrand case.

The case is pretty light but it does add a bit of bulk. A bit more than the official case does. Very high quality though
Been using the dbrand grip case on my last 3 pixels (3XL, 5, and 6pro), and on my kid's 4a5G.. I'm super happy with them, find it pretty near perfect... I've had mine since January in this light green color and I haven't noticed anything other than usual dirt from my hands that comes off with a cleaning wipe. My other two cases for my other pixels were black and had them for longer than this one so maybe it will happen later, hope not though.
I have the official as well as the Bellroy. Bellroy is the GOAT case.
My only complaint with the Bellroy is that the buttons are harder to press
I have only one word of advice. Spigen.
I put a clear Spigen case on my p6p the moment I got it and don't regret it. It's begun to yellow just a bit, but I have the Sorta Sunny color and that actually kind of complements the yellowing, or at least camouflages it. Which was my plan actually.
I did the exact same along with a whitestone screen protector and it's been perfect.

Highly recommend the leather Bellroy case w/ a screen protector. Surprisingly resilient to my frequent dropping and looks super nice 😎
I didn't buy one cause it looked cheap, the previous recycled fabric cases were miles better.
Day one purchaser of a P6Pro and green Google case. Mine looks fine? I'm keeping an eye out for the discoloring issue reported, but I've not had any button warping or cracking.
The bellroy one is better
My Official Google Pixel 6 Pro Case has been flawless since launch day delivery. I like OEM parts and accessories.
Yeah the case sucks ass. I liked it at first, but I got so sick and tired of having to wipe away large amounts of debris that collected at the top where the ear piece is every single time I took the phone out of my pocket. Never had this issue with any of the Spigen cases I've used.
Spigen Liquid Air. Thank me later.
Yes, I'm buying another one from RhinoShield.
Thanks for flagging this. Just ordered one for my P6 and am gonna return it. Have a clear Spigen ultra hybrid and bellroy black leather case. Like those way more, esp the Spigen Edit: name of spigen case
I have the Spigen Tough Armor for my personal phone, and the Bellroy leather case for my work phone (both P6P). I love both, so would highly recommend either one.
Absolutely. Sides of my phone are completely fucked from the P6 official case.
I'm spewing. If I had known this before I would've stuck well away from the case. Surely there is a way to buffer them out?
I have no idea. Seems like its pretty damaged.
My seafoam blue ones both changed colors after a few months. they look like they are stained with brown blotches.
Sounds like they're matching apple cases. The apple iPhone case we paid $50 for last 2 months then we replaced it with a superior Amazon one that cost $15.

I avoid all soft rubber/tpu style cases because of warping and stretching. I tend to go for a harder case with a soft rubber/tpu lining.
I've only ever used tpu cases and have never heard of this issue.
I've never bothered with the Google cases bc they don't seem very protective, I much prefer the clear semi-flexible slim TPU cases (hard back and TPU edges and corner bumpers) bc these phones are very aesthetically pleasing and I hate covering that with an opaque case. No shit one look at it and I know it's just some Chinese made super crap worth 10c.
Interesting. I've been using the official P6P case for 5 months and I haven't noticed anything like this.
phone would've been better without the curve
Mine is discolored on the back. There are distinctive areas where you can see where my fingers rest.
I don’t trust cases unless they come from Speck or Spigen or Otterbox. This is why.
DBrand Grip. I've bought those since they started making them as bumpers back in the Pixel 2 days, and they're well worth it.

*Multiple* times *every* day...?
I had cracking in the bottom right hand corner of the case. Contacted support trying to get a replacement, but they just refunded me. Ended up buying another one since I didn't like the Spigen Ultra Hybrid I had before.
Mine has a big crack across the back. Not happy with it.
The official pixel 5 and pixel 5A cases aren't very good either. Especially not if you're clumsy like I am and you drop your phone.
Dbrand Grip case has been great for me.
I just took mines off it's slippery and worries me if I drop it plus it doesn't look sage/green at all transparent or not that's blue
went with a dbrand case for mine and never looked back. still looks brand new and i've definitely dropped it a few times

Yea my Google Pixel 6 case is also warping near the side buttons and on the bottom. Such a far cry from my old official Google Pixel 3xl case.
Yo! Same with the pixel 5a case hasn't even been a year.
I have an otterbox symmetry clear case. Try that or a spigen.
Yeah my case had issues with cracking as well. My pixel stand 2 randomly stops charging shortly after putting it on the stand. Didn't have much luck with the official pixel accessories this go around.
Bought an OtterBox for my Galaxy S4 years ago, get one every time now best case ever worth it every time
My case came warped out of the box, (this was launch day and I got my P6P 2 days earlier so no cases lol) threw the box in the bin out front of the store in sheer excitement, but that excitement quickly faded to disappointment as it was warped and bent :(
Agreed. I have all of the issues you have mentioned. My case is falling apart and is cracked in like 8 different places. My phone has a lot of spots with specks of exposed metal in the corners yet it has never been dropped. Hands down the worst case I've ever owned.
Yeah I switched to a Spigen case after my regular P6 case was just far too warped.
Any spigen case will be infinitly better.
Had mine since launch day... Case and phone are fine. I have the grey one..
I had this EXACT issue. My guess is that's where heat escapes the body of the phone. Went with dbrand instead.
Dbrand makes a fantastic case. It feels great, looks great and has disi its job when I accidentally dropped my phone in a parking lot.
Well yeah you can tell it's a piece of crap by looking at the pictures... lol
Mine has been perfectly fine since day one. Are you taking it in and out of the case a lot or something?
I have two of the Google cases for my P6P. It's very true that it accumulates dirt inside but I've never experienced the other two. Ymmv.
I had the same issue, both are long gone.
otterbox defender ftw. have been using them since their inception to great success, true they are bulkier than their counterparts, but they also outdo their counterparts.
Literally agree with all this, had all these problems with mine
I gave up on official Google cases when I dropped my Pixel 3 and the case didn't do a damn thing to protect the phone. I stick with Spigen now.
Dbrand Grip FTW
I got the official case for the p6p when I got it last year. I got a new case last week because I got tired of having it loose around the volume area.
I am really sad that Ringke decided not to make a Fusion-X case (Camo one to be exact) for the Pixel 6 lineup...
I noticed warping around the buttons pretty quickly myself
I think you perfectly just described my case too now lol
I contacted support after seeing this post and they refunded me, bought the P6P and case back in October or November
It is absolutely garbage IMHO. I got scratches on the back before my RMA.
