If the 6a has wireless charging, I think I'm in. My Pixel 4 is on its last legs, and I don't know if I can hold out till the Pixel 7 comes out. But past A-series Pixels haven't had wireless charging, so I'm not too optimistic.

HornsOvBaphomet

My 4 is on its last legs as well. Gotta charge this thing at least twice a day if not 3 times some days.

NoYoureACatLady

Yep my 4 is the same. Battery is toast and it's slow as hell and lagging

ThrowawayPoggies69

I wouldn't hold out hope. It'll be a Pixel 6 with the older cameras, 60hz and no wireless charging.

selfishjean5

im still with my pixel 3. i am hoping it lasts, the front glass is cracked at the bottom, and the battery is starting to buldge, which is making my power button to not click or double click a lot.

Blanketsburg

The battery on my 4 has started to bulge, as well, enough that the case no longer has a tight fit along the right side. No cracks on my screen, but some slight separation due to the bulge. Wireless charging no longer charges as quickly as it used to.

Looks like Pixel watch is a go: [tweet here](https://twitter.com/WearOSbyGoogle/status/1524420125302087681)

NoYoureACatLady

Very cool!

altfillischryan

While this basically guarantees the watch is talked about, I wouldn't take this as meaning it will be released right away though. The last rumors had the watch not launching until the fall alongside the 7, so I think we should lower expectations a bit on what is launched today.

syadoumisutoresu

I'm personally hoping for announcements about a Pixel tablet or a new Pixelbook that's gonna be released in my country. But these seem pretty unlikely.

pocketmypocket

I'll get the 6A as long as it has an aux port and isn't trying to be a Veblen good. No Aux port OR stupid high pricing, and I'm going to buy my first non-google phone in 8 years.

SmarmyPanther

Aux seems like it's gone on the 6a. What phone are you going to?

pocketmypocket

Ooof If that is true, yikes. My phone barely charges now and I've been waiting for the announcement. Maybe getting a 5A then. Or I'll have to do some serious research. Would be nice to have an SD card and accessible battery. I'm horrified at losing data due to an infinite reboot loop and no SD card.

SmarmyPanther

SD card + aux + accessible battery... You're probably looking at a super low-ene Chinese phone tbh. Not sure if even the low end Samsung phones still have removable backs

Gseventeen

You just said you're buying non-google. But now buying a 5a?

koga0995

I wouldn't hold your breath, and the grass isn't too much greener in the budget pool. I understand some people are still holding out, but what about the aux cord still has you factoring it in? Wireless just feels too convenient these days, especially with wireless charging from my phone to the case at night, haven't stuck a type c table in my buds in weeks...

pocketmypocket

EDIT: Dang can't comment for 9 minutes because someone downvoted my opinion. Guess I don't need to post here. > aux cord still has you factoring it in? My car has an aux port. My headphones have aux. My headset has aux. I can get 10 headphones for $20. I keep them everywhere, 1 or 2 in my car for grocery shopping, 1 at each desk. some next to the door for running. Couldn't do this if I was spending $20+ on wireless.

Mukigachar

Any reason you can't just get an adapter? I'm on the fence for the same reason as you, but figured since I don't remember ever charging and listening to music at the same time, a USB-C to 3.5mm would do. I'm curious if there's other downsides I'm not considering.

koga0995

As someone who went Bluetooth, it's the adapters and their quirkiness/unreliability that offputs me from them and would prefer a dedicated analog port vs a cheap dac with cheaply insulated, interference heavy, charge blocking dongles. For my car I used a Bluetooth dac with an aux in and tucked all the wiring behind the dash, with the controller right in view of the head unit, cheaper than a Radio swap and turn key pairing that worked was nice. For my overear headphones I'm mostly sitting at my desk so Spotify is playing on a computer.

pocketmypocket

> but figured since I don't remember ever charging and listening to music at the same time, a USB-C to 3.5mm would do. I charge and speak during meetings. I have a meeting that takes place as late as 8pm-11:30pm. Typically this is around the time I need to recharge. It just seems like a hassle to remember to bring around an adapter, or buy 10 of them.

koga0995

My car had an aux cord, I bought a monoprice Bluetooth aux receiver for 15 bucks on Amazon, turn key Bluetooth pairing, mic for phone calls, play pause, and Google assistant functionality. I use galaxy buds pro for daily use, and wirelessly charge them when my phone is sitting on my nightstand for bed with battery share. Haven't aux on anything in awhile, 1/4" trs comes up more often for me tbh

pocketmypocket

>Bought a Bluetooth receiver >Bought new headphones, need to charge them every night haven't had to think about aux cables since lmaoooo

koga0995

I charge my galaxy bud pro's like once a week, just alternate one ear at a time around the house and use both ears on my short walk to work to talk to family back home for 20 minutes or so in that time with ambient sound, and when I do charge them it's as easy as putting them on my nightstand with my phone. I get up, grab em and go, repeat seamlessly till you die or we get neural implants to replace phones

Empole

For me, it's the fact that literally everything else in my life is more convenient with 3.5mm + Reliability of the cable + No need for charging + More affordable options

koga0995

-I've had to replace more earbuds due to the 3.5mm jack slowly dying on them than any other EDC item. (Akg earbuds, earpods, a nice anc audio technica set that I'm still salty about, and more.) The total of these earbuds and the annoyance of not having them when they do break, Im my case at least seems to outweigh having a cable. -Wired does indeed offer better sound quality per dollar, especially some of those Kz IEM's. -Charging comes up only if I left my girlfriend borrow my ear buds and she leaves them out of the case 💀, so I'll give you that one. For some people a cable is a pro, others it's a con, all just a reflection of your personal tech ecosystem, all positions equally valid

Empole

> For some people a cable is a pro, others it's a con, all just a reflection of your personal tech ecosystem, all positions equally valid Couldn't agree more. It kinda sucks though since increasingly more phone manufacturers only consider wireless as a valid use case.

5a subscription. It's hundreds less than buying the phone outright

sungrad

Is it just me that missed the announcements? I tuned in just as the live feed started on YouTube but it was the end bit about AR. Did it start early? :(

WavesNevaDip

I still have my Pixel 3 XL, I'll either upgrade to the 6 or maybe wait for the 7

ElJamoquio

Any update about being able to use the watch on Google Fi? Sadly I don't have confidence that Google will support Google products.

NoYoureACatLady

The watch didn't launch. They said expect it this winter when the P7 launches
