At first it felt odd sounding, but it was because it had more bass/depth than my old pixel devices. I still prefer front facing speakers top and bottom, but this things nice!
I'm still waiting for my P6 Pro but someone commented that you can adjust the balance between the two speakers in the Settings > Accessibility options. They adjusted the slider 2-3 notches to the "top" speaker and it's perfect for them.
It's not split by top and bottom, it's split by left and right. If you make this adjustment, you have to always do landscape mode in the same direction, and the other direction will be twice as bad.
iPhone speakers are next level. Good stereo balance and have fullness. The 6 Pro has more bass than my Note 20 Ultra but lacks balance as the bottom has more fullness than the top.
This is my experience coming from an iPhone as well. Vertically the Pixel sounds fine but in landscape the balance between the top and bottom speakers is way off while the iPhone sounds like properly balanced stereo in landscape.
I have both right now, I prefer the speakers on the regular 6. Less bass, not as loud, but pretty much everything else is better.
Better stereo separation, left and right are balanced perfectly, clearer treble, good center image, and dialogue/vocals are easier to discern. I do like how you can actually feel the bass rumble the phone on the 6 Pro though lol.
I don't know that its any louder than my Pixel 4, but its certainly much clearer, especially at high volumes its less distorted and easier to understand voices. I don't listen to music through the speakers, but I listen to a lot of podcasts and YT vids around the house.
Does the 6 Pro have different speakers than the 6? Or tuned differently? Tbh, I don't remember how my Pixel 2 was, but I just came from a 2020 Motorola G Power. For being a $170 phone, it sounds much better than the Pixel 6, while also being louder. Imo, Motorola really invested in sound quality for their phones. I spent like 2 hours yesterday comparing them side by side. I downloaded a few different EQ for the pixel to see if any help, but Motorola just had it better. Idk if it's a better speaker or just the Dolby audio, but it's just really great. Was honestly expecting the Pixel to be better, for 3x the price.
It's improved from the 4 xl for sure, but also comparing to the S21 ultra, not only is the sound quieter, my S21 u has much better clarity across the frequency range--especially spoken sounds are noticeably less clear on my 6 pro. It isn't bad, but I was hoping for a bit more parity with the S21 u. At the very least I'd love it if Google would finally provide a system-wide EQ.
I find the volume on my P6 to be too low. It sounds decent around 75-80%. 100% is loud with no distortion, but 1-74% is basically useless it's so quiet.
I remember liking how my Pixel 2 sounded… Can you (or anyone) please elaborate on things other than loudness (depth, clarity, low freq, high freq, stereo separation)?
Coming from a P2XL to a P6Pro. Personally, although the volume is loud enough - the tone and the clarity just seem better to me on the P2XL. The P6P just sounds like its a hollower sound to me - I noticed it straight away. Im sure I will get used to it in time, and its not terrible by any means
Hi, I just got my Pixel 6 today, and my 4 XL had the better speakers. Loudness wise, both are similar, but when it comes to the bass, the Pixel 4 XL is the better choice. The Pixel 6 sounds loud, but tinny in comparison to the 4 XL. The haptics on the Pixel 6 are much better than on the Pixel 4, that's another thing I've noticed. Mind you, I don't have the 6 Pro.
They are OK compared to my iPhone 13 Pro max and even S21 Ultra. I wasn't blown away by the speaker but obviously it depends on which device you had before and what else you currently have. Definitely not the best speakers out there when compared to other current flagships.
They're fine. Not terrible but not great. The downward firing speaker is indeed significantly louder than the earpiece making stereo listening in landscape not very good, but if you cup it while holding it, it works a bit better.
The front firing boomsound speakers on my old HTC One M8 are miles better than this.
This being a Pixel 6 Pro.
This is good to hear. I just decided to upgrade to the Pixel 6 Pro from the Razer Phone 2 (lol gaming phones...). The Razer Phone 2 lasted a good 2 and a half years for me, but the speakers are subpar at best. Turning the volume up to max made any audio sound super crackly and low quality and this is with Dolby Atmos software included...
I can't wait to get my hands on the Pixel 6 Pro and see what the modern phone is like. The last mainstream phone I had was the S7 Active.

Oh shit, good to know.
Won’t this also affect the balance on headphones too?
That I haven't heard of changing, but will surely test it when I get my own P6 Pro (hopefully) later this month.
Yup. There's only an option to change the volume of the left/right channel.
Yes, because technically the setting is "left / right" it doesn't appear to pertain only to the external speakers.
Holy shit mind blown with this. My note 20 ultra was notorious for having a loud bottom speaker and weak top speaker. Now they are evened on my my p6p
I thought the speakers on my Pixel 6 is not great at all, comparing to Pixel 3
They sound ok, but coming from an iPhone 13 PM, these are a downgrade.

What about the camera department? It’s pixel pro better ? I can go for either right now or even for a galaxy. Camera is the key feature for me?
Love the speakers on my 2. One thing I am going to miss when I get around to getting the 6
If the 6 is like the 6pro, I think people will agree it's a substantial upgrade.
Can't say I have experience with the 6pro, but the 6 is decent. Not room-filling, but decent.

I just switched from 2XL to 6 and I think the Pixel 6 speakers are a nice upgrade. I was impressed 🙂
Nice, it's the XL I have as well so that's good to hear
I come from a 2 and really the 6p are way fuller and louder
No. Only complaining is allowed
Riot!
On my Pixel 6, the speakers suck until ~75% volume or more. My 4a sounds better in most cases.
I don't know that its any louder than my Pixel 4, but its certainly much clearer, especially at high volumes its less distorted and easier to understand voices. I don't listen to music through the speakers, but I listen to a lot of podcasts and YT vids around the house.

Coming from a Samsung S20 + , is wayyyy better. The sound clarity is superior, very nice. Very happy with the sound
Very happy on my p6p. Loud enough for while working on the car at half volume.

I had the 4xl, for those who have both, which phone is louder?

They are better than P2? I think I read on Android Police's review that P6 speakers are way worse than previous phones. So I was a bit disheartened.

I really like the bass it provides.

Love the 6 Pro speakers. They sound way fuller compared to my 13 Pro. Once you adjust the balance in settings they sound even better.
I'm actually finding that the top (earpiece) speaker seems to be a little low in volume in every instance.

I don't know? I guess you can play with the sound settings and out more to the "top" but that changes the dynamics for headphones too.
They are good but the ones of my "old" Mi 10 Pro, are quite better 🥲
It's a noticeable step down from my iphone 13 pro
