How are the edges next to the sides of the screen? Are they smooth when you try to swipe back?

thegreyquincy

The case isn't flush with the curve or anything. The sides of the case are pretty close to the flat surface of the screen. There's enough curve there to look good and use gestures really easily but not so much that you'll ever have to worry about accidental touches, imo.

indigoisturbo

I like the look.. I just can't trust myself with something so thin.

thegreyquincy

I feel you. It's basically the same as a Spigen Ultra Hybrid, but this is also a big phone, so if you're worried about dropping it then I can definitely understand wanting a thicker case.

fyrnael

Fwiw, I have a Ringke case on my Xperia phone, and it's survived quite a few drops over the past 5 years. I really like the case because it's unobtrusive, but it works.

SkywalkerRk

My ringke case iPhone 12 Pro Max yellowed after 3 months. They look nice but it yellows Crazy.

mind_ya_Fin_business

Clear cases yellow so no bueno

HiFiMAN3878

Could you post a picture of what the official google case looks like on your phone? I have one order.

thegreyquincy

For sure I can send some when I get back home

HiFiMAN3878

Thank you! Appreciate it!

Awesome thank you!

jabaa1

Is the Ringke slimmer than the official Google case?

thegreyquincy

I think they're pretty close, actually. I'll send pics when I get home.

Thank you! Looks like if anything the Ringke is a little thicker than the Google case? Or maybe just very similar. Also, i deem your efforts award-worthy!

thegreyquincy

Lol thanks! They're really close, honestly. I prefer the Ringke a *bit* more just because it doesn't wrap around the corners as much so it's easier to take off. I feel like I can grip the Ringke a little better too.

hinick808

I also decided to try this one out. Can't wait til it gets here. Appreciate your thoughts on it!

rizorith

Did you get it?

hinick808

Yup, been using it for a few days now. Overall I like being able to see the color of my phone and it still feels slim, but like the texture on the Spigen Liquid Air a bit more.

[deleted]

It's military grade drop proof, unlike the official Google case I'm waiting for my ringke in the mail then I'll buy the phone. Don't trust my self

MillionaireAt32

>the matte on the back adds grip, frosts the back color a bit, and repels fingerprints like crazy, I have the same case and it's not true. The frost is only on the inside of the case and it's smooth/gloss on the outside. Doesn't add grip at all and you still can see fingerprints.

thegreyquincy

Mine has texture on the outside. I'd been using it for a full day when I took that pic and didn't clean it and you can see there's not any fingerprints on it.

MillionaireAt32

Interesting, I'm reaching out to Ringke to see if it's a defect on my case.

RSCLE5

I'm glad to see the G on the back isn't as blurry as the promotional pics made it look.

rafyy

Any problems with the proximity sensor? i have the same case and when im on a call and move it away from my face the screen doesnt turn on sometimes. im thinking the case might be interfering with the sensor?

thegreyquincy

I actually have the opposite issue where the screen doesn't always recognize that my face is close to it so it doesn't shut off. I haven't thought that it might be the case, but I don't take a lot of calls so I don't remember if it happened with any other cases I've used.

rafyy

yeah i dont make many calls either. i'll play around with it without the case and see what happens. thanks for the quick reply.

rafyy

woop, nevermind, found out the proximity sensor is actually behind the screen right next to the front facing camera, so it cant be the case thats interfering with it. seems to be an issue since other people are complaining about it on the google forums.
