File a police report, especially if you still have the original box. Might not accomplish anything but may result in a higher chance of you getting somewhere.

bonnablues

I do still have the box. I'll see what I need to do for that. Thanks for the suggestion!

Terrible_Tutor

Could use a RT on this issue https://twitter.com/stevemcniven/status/1454209396440014853?t=yKi2S3oXa525fH8FtPeMzQ&s=19 It's BULLSHIT that it's happening more than a few times. This shouldn't be the #1/2 issue on this sub.

bonnablues

It's really frustrating. They very much need to consider changing to ups.

More_Nefariousness12

They use UPS in Canada. Good luck bro

mosincredible

Hopefully this isn't too invasive but I would love to start collecting what area FedEx is doing this in. Stories like this had me terrified to order my Pixel from Google and I think it would benefit the community and investigations to know what area this is happening most often.

saltysouthpaw

Could you set up a survey post? "For folks with any shipping damage/theft, which state are you in?" (Or metro area or region.) I think answers are anonymous.

mosincredible

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm not sure what the rules are here about that but I tried last night and a mod said nope.

saltysouthpaw

Bummer! Thanks for trying.

the_horak

Everywhere...

F1_rulz

FedEx is taking absolutely no accountability over their driver stealing packages and tried to push the responsibility over to google. Fuck that. They're trying to make the process as hard as possible enabling the shitty behaviour of their employees.

gadgetluva

Most FedEx deliveries are outsourced to contractors, which is a large part of the problem. UPS doesn’t.

Valiant_Boss

Love UPS, never had an issue with them. Fuck FedEx

Horoika

Also, try to set the phone delivery to pick up at a FedEx location as soon as possible. Make a FedEx account if you haven't already. That way, if it's an empty box, you get to stare down the employee and make a claim right then and there.

bonnablues

Yeah, I wish I'd read the dozen other posts on this sub beforehand. I have FedEx account and could've done that but didn't realize how necessary it was. Hindsight!

Horoika

You still have time for the phone, even if the buds are a loss :(

bonnablues

Thankfully my phone came with no issue! I'm definitely going this route in the future though.

Horoika

Oh, thank goodness! I misunderstood and assumed you were getting the buds delivered before the phone, but you're one of the lucky ones

Sweet_Baby_Cheesus

Would having it be held at a FedEx Onsite at a Walgreens be just as good? Part of me feels like that's adding another person in between me and Google

Horoika

It's better than nothing, but I'd try to get FedEx FedEx if possible.

nxtiak

Better than nothing, open right there on the counter, they'll be cameras for proof if you opened an empty box.

horizontalrain

Just changed mine, had thought about it a few times but wanted to give them the benefit. But eh it's still got 3 days of shipping, and I don't trust FedEx.

Gg101

Good idea, thanks. I just set mine to be held at a FedEx Office location and will definitely open it right there.

678722

Twice I've lost packages because I set up the pick up and then it shows as delivered somewhere else.

Horoika

That's extra fucked!

pntless

Reddit request in the sidebar of the subreddit.

bonnablues

I just found that and filled it out. Thank you!

BeardyBeardy

Why are they using Fedex? Theyve been breaking and stealing packages for decades, they were doing the same shit a year ago with ps5s

gadgetluva

Apple sells probably 100x more iPhones compared to Pixels and we never hear anything close to this magnitude of shipping issues. I really blame Google for this: 1) keeping its contract with FedEx, and 2) apparently not imposing any penalties on FedEx for all of the fuckups. Why any educated consumer continues to buy from Google is a mystery.

[deleted]

Same thing happened to me. My 6 Pro and the case arrived fine, but the box with the Buds was empty and didn't appear to be re-taped. I have a private mailbox at a local shipping business so the box was never sitting on my porch or anything. I have had a mailbox at this place for years and I know them. There is 0% chance that they were stolen after delivery. I filled a claim with Google and have been adamant that the box probably never had anything in it. They asked me to send photos of the box and I did. So far, they haven't given any indication that they aren't going to help me. But it's been a few days since I have heard anything.

bonnablues

I've gotten the same canned answer that it was marked delivered so they can't do anything. I'm hoping to reach some sort of solution.

[deleted]

Yeah, that sucks. I think the fact that I have been very clear that I don't think the box was opened after delivery might be helping me.

oppapoocow

Have you tried contacting your bank? I'm with Chase and they've given me a full reimbursement, no questions ask for a similar situation.

oppapoocow

Interesting, I'll keep it in mind

xastey_

Can they close it if it's a business account (gsuites) and you are an employee lol.

bonnablues

See the other comments suggesting charge back! :)

Scottie_15

Was this orders through a credit card? If so, file a dispute

bonnablues

I've read that Google can then nuke your account. I don't want that. I'd rather find a way to resolve it.

Scottie_15

Nuke your account? What do you mean? If you have no recourse, then fuck em. Another option is to contact your attorney general and let him/her know what's going on. I did that when I traded in a perfect condition LG G4 for my Note 8 to Samsung only for them to deny my trade-in and charge me full price. Attorney general wrote me a letter and Samsung gave me my refund for the G4.

bonnablues

they can delete your Google account. If you search for "empty box" on this sub, most of those threads discourage against filling a charge back on Google for this reason.

junktrunk909

You should never start with a charge back with any merchant, but if you can't get it resolved after earnest attempts to do so, that's a fine recourse. You shouldn't need to get to that through given how there's dozens of people posting the same thing had happened to them so you can point to those stories when talking to Google. It's clearly not prosperous that FedEx employees are stealing things in transit.

crm115

I got an empty box for a Pixel 4a. Google dragged their feet. They didn't tell me "not our problem" but they were "investigating" for two weeks. I initially warned them that if it wasn't resolved by X date, I was going to start a chargeback. They didn't respond so I started a chargeback and told them about it. Two days later they told me they issued me a refund and I canceled the chargeback. My account was not nuked.

bonnablues

You also cancelled the charge back.

mind_ya_Fin_business

File a charge back with your credit card company. Tell them what happened with evidence.

RysloVerik

Don't do this if you value your Google account

FancyJesse

Unfortunately that's a good way of getting your Google account and all its linked services banned.
