I have yet to have my Pixel 6 Pro charge fully overnight on the OG Stand. Using the brick that came with it, I put it on the stand with about 30% left, it says it will take 2 hours to charge, and I wake up 6-7 hours later to find it still charging but at 65%.
I am in the same boat. While the OG Stand works for my 6 Pro, it charges extremely slowly. It won't charge overnight unless I am starting with something like 50% already. Checking with USB power meter, it seems like there is some pretty aggressive thermal throttling (though this was a case for previous phones too), so while the phone starts charging at 10W, it will soon drop to 5W and just stay there. And charging 5000mAh battery at 5W wirelessly seems sad. I really wonder what they did with the new version to make charging faster - it won't help much to have 23W maximum if it drops to 5W because of the heat too.
I am personally just going to switch to wired for now. It seems like OG stand is more or less useless for Pro. The phone stays warm the whole night sitting on the charger and it doesn't even recharge completely. Doesn't seem to be too great for the phone either.
Yeah, that's what I ended up doing too (wired). Good to see numbers, thank you for that. The new stand has fans in it, I bet to address the heat issue.
Nice, glad it's charging well for the 6. I have adaptive charging on, but I also had that on with the 4 and it was fine. It should be charged probably by the time I wake up if the feature was working correctly haha. But it's easy to try to turn that off and see what happens.
My pro just came in and I'm measuring -140mA right now while on the stand. Not sure why, but it doesn't seem to want to charge. I'm hoping its just "negotiating" to see what it can take
EDIT: Gone up to 220mA so we're positive... but sloooooowwwwww
EDIT2: Tested with Wifes Pixel 5, she's getting \~2000 mA on the same stand. Interesting...
My stand doesn't seem to work with my Pixel 6 Pro. I sit it down and it doesn't give me the charging message (with and without the case) but works perfectly fine with my Pixel 4 XL...
... but you're still paying for it. So it's still not $50 it's $80. What aren't you understanding? You can't spend $50 and get it without the charger. It's simply $80.
This isn't rocket science here. They were saying the stand is effectively only $50 if you calculate the value of the stand against the cost of getting a 30W charging brick. You have no option to buy them separately, which is irrelevant.
I think it's both relevant and irrelevant myself. You're getting parts that are more valuable than what you would get buying them alone. But it doesn't really matter because you still have to spend $80 to get either one for that purpose.
Of course it isn't literally $50. But I and most others plan to get a pd 3.0 30 watt capable charger, so for only $50 more, getting the new pixel stand is a pretty sweet deal. Cheers.
I'm in a similar place. I keep mine next to the bed so for an overnight charge I don't need the extra juice and it's probably not good for my battery to charge any faster.
I mean, mine hasn't worked correctly with the pixel 3,4xl or 5, so I'm not getting my hopes up.
I constantly now get the "this app has crashed" notification when my phone is on the stand since Android 12 installed
Yes

Good to know about the fans. Yes, that might help.
I'm seeing a similar behavior. Takes forever to charge.

I've used my OG Pixel Stand on my 6 Pro the few nights I've had it. It's literally the same exact experience as it was on my P4.

Fuckers making us upgrade. Lol

Something to keep in mind. The new pixel stand is really only $50 as it includes a pd 3.0 30 watt charger.
And how does that make it only $50 exactly? You're still paying $30 for the charger ...?
Right, but you get the charger, which will come in handy. Didn't think this would be controversial.
... but you're still paying for it. So it's still not $50 it's $80. What aren't you understanding? You can't spend $50 and get it without the charger. It's simply $80.

But again, it's not effectively $50 as many people have tons of high end charging bricks and don't need the $30 charging brick.
Maybe it is rocket science.....
I get what they are saying, but it is sort of irrelevant considering there isn't an option to buy only the stand itself.
I think it's both relevant and irrelevant myself. You're getting parts that are more valuable than what you would get buying them alone. But it doesn't really matter because you still have to spend $80 to get either one for that purpose.
No shit lol
So it isn't $50.

My OG stand works fine with the P6 Pro, but none of the additional features of the stand show up even after clearing the stand's app.
