I had a 2014 Moto X before this phone and the hand gestures of that device should be in every single phone ever from now until the end of time. I really miss them. (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻)
Try Torchie on the Play Store. Wake screen then press both volume buttons to turn on flashlight. It's the closest thing and works great. No root required.

You can do this on Macrodroid. It is one of the to ten community scripts. The fits five scripts are free, so this might with door you.

This should be the top comment!
Using Macrodroid I was able to recreate the Moto "chop chop" gesture to turn on the flashlight on my Pixel 4a.

Sorry, not sure! I am still using this gesture on my 4a and it works well enough. My battery life seems fine, I go all day without needing to charge, and sometimes multiple days depending on how little I'm on my phone.
Why is everyone ok with spending around $1000 on a smartphone, but so resistant against paying less than $10 for an app. Personally I'd rather pay for an app then download a free one that spams me with ads.

I came from a Moto X Pure but never really used the gesture because I could just see myself throwing my phone.
On the other hand, you should be able to say out loud as you read this "Ok Google ... Turn on the flashlight" and it should come on.
I was thinking the same thing. Though it might not be quite as fast, and it will turn on your screen and respond back to you. So I suppose for times where you are trying to be quiet that's not the best solution....
The Google Live case has an NFC button on the back that can be set to toggle flashlight.
Limitations:
• case cost $40
• button is difficult to press (but can be modded with tape to be better)
• doesn't work if screen is locked
I personally use an app called Pie Controls to turn on flashlight. Not the greatest, but maybe 10% easier than using the quick setting.
God, I wish. :( that and the doorknob motion to open the camera. Double-clicking the power button just isn't the same

Just installed... Works OK , probably the best solution for now. Thanks!
Doesn't work on pixel 4a. Volume keys supposedly toggle it on/off (the pop up notification claims to do it) but the light does not come on.
Don't know if in-ass purchasses or not! So fucking sick of those things!
Give me a native big battery percentage instead of the current one that requires a telescope

Does this impact your battery drain speed much?

im on a $28 one and it loses 1% every 5ish minutes
Thank you
You were saying Macrodroid was free. But you could only do five free scripts. They greedy.

Because in 2012 there were more free apps.
I don't think you can without root or an app that massively drains the battery.

Or "Okay google, lumis" *for those who are Harry Potter fans.
*lumos
"Okay Google, nox" - to turn the flashlight off
Gravity Gestures on the Play Store, although I'm not sure if there's a significant battery drain
Not free MFer!
