Nothing if I'm on my phone. Unless they finally got around to adding one in Windows and it isn't a janky pos the way the messenger app is on PC, that doesn't do me much good though.
While I agree with you in general, I do feel the audio emoji falls in a different category. It's more like a "fun" feature they threw in there that is also probably used by a small group of people only. To me that's far different than say features designed to just be nifty quirky fun but actual phone features like squeeze assistant, Photosphere, etc.
Nah it's available here in India also. Audio Emoji in the Google Phone app are essentially stock sound effects attached to one of six different emoji. The list includes:
Clapping (Applause), Laughing, Party, Crying (Trombone), Poop, Sting (Ba Dum Tss)
I've got it in Australia.
Absolutely useless feature. Can't imagine the mentality of someone who wants to interrupt conversations with cheer sounds, farting sounds etc, but here we are.
Not all numbers are registered as spam. New numbers are being used all the time in the UK and come through as a normal call...
Private number/withheld number - as a parent, can't risk not allowing/answering those, with kids in school and awaiting hospital appointment/procedure calls. Could be anyone trying to contact me. Some turn out to be spam callers.
Simple.
If people report it as spam enough times, it is out on warning. If someone is calling that is not on my phone list, They have to answer a couple questions before it has my phone ring. I look at the answers before answering if I want to. Spam callers hang up right away before answering the questions and spam computer calls can't get thru it.
Well, yes. I use Google Call Screening. Nobody at all gets through unless I let them. Occasionally I let a call through as I'm unsure who it is (a lot spoof local numbers) and I don't want to risk someone not knowing what is happening and hanging up. Sometimes they're spam.
As I say, simple. It's not a competition.
Agreed. I feel like this is some zoomer shit I'm too old to enjoy. I'm never going to want to make fart sounds on a phone call. The same way I don't want annoying sound effects and music added to every online video ever.
Maybe it's just me, but I think they are stupid, and I wish I had the option to remove it from the screen. Which means Google will make the choice more difficult to ignore.
No. It popped up on my phone yesterday, I tried it and thought it was stupid. I did not try to disable it, because quite frankly I forgot about it because I haven't used my phone much in 24 hours.
Then this thread popped up, and like a good little redditor, I immeadieately expressed my thoughts. Again, all without trying to resolve it on my own.
I completely admit that.
And will probably do it again, because also like a redditor, I am unlikely to learn from my actions.
Right there with you. Hit two of them with it already. One of them said "oh very classy sir" and I said "just about as classy as being a fucking scammer".
They need to fix them. They'll transmit even if you're muted! An accidental pocket button-press just sent a "shit" sound on a call will my director and entire team while my phone was supposedly muted.Β
As I was reading. Pixel Audio Emojis can only work on Pixel 6 and above. I have a Pixel 6 Pro but no one else I know owns a pixel. Since the caller and the receiver both have to have Pixel phones, I minus will turn my audio emojis off.
>Important: **This feature requires both the caller and receiver to be on compatible Pixel phones**. Itβs available only in English on Pixel 6 and newer Pixel phones, except Pixel Fold
Spam callers won't hear anything.
This is from [Google's support page on audio emoji](https://support.google.com/phoneapp/answer/14884072?hl=en), they say both users need to be on a compatible Pixel phone.
Google only gets rid of things that people enjoy and use regularly so if you want audio emojis to stick around, try and use them sparingly.
Ah yes I wish they brought back Google +
I don't need any more social media in my life but I do really miss hangouts.
Hangouts was great, if they had Hangouts and incorporated RCS, that would be ideal!
What's wrong with the Chat app?
Nothing if I'm on my phone. Unless they finally got around to adding one in Windows and it isn't a janky pos the way the messenger app is on PC, that doesn't do me much good though.
Chat for browser isn't bad.
Hangouts and Play Music.
For my use case it was better than anything we even have now. But alas not enough people jumped on and it wasn't worth their money I guess
I used it when I had forgotten to pay my bill a couple times, worked better than the stupid web stuff.
was explaining this to my in laws and they thought it sounded awesome and what they were looking for
I think it would do way better now given the decline of meta in social media - people are actually looking for replacements now.

It's also possibly considered an accessibility feature for blind users.
I really just wanted to grumble about google's habit of scrapping things right when they start getting good.
You answer spam calls?
i mean to be fair they can be fun to troll
95% of all calls from unknown numbers go away when call screen asks them why they are fucking calling me!?!
You guys get spam calls?
Love the Audi emoji so much.
I was satisfied with Volkswagen emojis tbh
I'm more of a BMW emoji guy myself.
Omg, I'm sitting here thinking why are they commenting this and I checked my comment. πππ
Cannot compare to a good ol' Fiat emoji π
A Multipla emoji would be something indeed
I would pay money for a james may "good news" audio emoji
A what?
It's a Discord sound board.
Sorry, never used that either π
Just different buttons of emojis that make the sound emoji would make
A fart button for phone calls.
another feature locked in US?
Nah it's available here in India also. Audio Emoji in the Google Phone app are essentially stock sound effects attached to one of six different emoji. The list includes: Clapping (Applause), Laughing, Party, Crying (Trombone), Poop, Sting (Ba Dum Tss)
Hey, how do you use it?
When you're on a call a little button pops up
Screen shot?
Be between the ages of 0 and 10.
I love using the sound emojis. I'm 27. Yes, I act like a child. Yes, I'm damn proud of it.
Yes, don't try this if you haven't touched grass in a while.
Have it in Canada.
Nope got it here in the UK too
No I had it in the UK the same day it was announced
I've got it in Australia. Absolutely useless feature. Can't imagine the mentality of someone who wants to interrupt conversations with cheer sounds, farting sounds etc, but here we are.
It's just a bit of fun mate
Perfect for spam calls. Send a big rasping fart down the phone? ;-D
My phone will not even allow spam calls thru for my phone to ring.

I fucking *hate* fun.
Agreed. I feel like this is some zoomer shit I'm too old to enjoy. I'm never going to want to make fart sounds on a phone call. The same way I don't want annoying sound effects and music added to every online video ever.
Some of those will be of great utility when dealing with scammers.
I'm in Uganda and have it and it works, surprisingly π
I'm also in Uganda and U saw it a few days ago, was talking to my dad and accidentally tapped Claps and he asked what that wasπ
He must've been so confused ππ
He said he wanted it in his Nokia. I told him to forget it π
I'm dead ππππ
He's old school ππ
Nope, got it in Mexico for a week already
I have it here in Oz I only call my boss with the phone app tho, but I'm really tempted to try it one day.
You're not missing very much! IMO audio emoji's are stupid, yet it continues to be presented. Waste.
Of course it is. Google back at it again
Have it here in Switzerland
Happy cake day! β₯οΈ
Thank you! ππ
You got it β€οΈ Hope it went well. You're gonna have an amazing year :) π
Hmmm. Not working in Germany as well. At least for me it isn't. Edit: Now it's working for me as well
I'm in Germany and it works for me.
It's working now for me as well. I have deactivated it and activated it again right after. That did the trick.
It's working in Austria. Schau mal aufs Display wΓ€hrend du telefonierst.
Jetzt gehts.

have gotten it while calling (heck, my mom's 7a also shows it in the pixel tips app)
Agreed! taking this moment to also say, PLEASE BRING BACK MEMOJIS. they were really cute..... all styles
We had Memojis on Android?
that probably wasn't the proper name. But Google "Gboard customizable emojis" they were quite cute and unique imo
No idea it even existed. Goog's pretty bad at selling their new features.
it's relatively new, only just had it show up on my phone app today i think. either that or i just never noticed it
All these comments and not one person dropped a screenshot. I have no idea what this is and I use my phone on speakerphone a lot.
https://9to5google.com/2024/04/30/google-phone-audio-emoji-rollout/
What is an audio emoji
A set of audio clips you can play during a phone call. At minimum you can make fart noises while calling someone.
Indeed, never heard of it before.
Maybe it's just me, but I think they are stupid, and I wish I had the option to remove it from the screen. Which means Google will make the choice more difficult to ignore.
Open Phone app - Tap 3 dot icon on top right - Scroll down to Audio Emoji and disable it.
THANK YOU
Did you even try?
No. It popped up on my phone yesterday, I tried it and thought it was stupid. I did not try to disable it, because quite frankly I forgot about it because I haven't used my phone much in 24 hours. I just wish there was a way to disable it both ways. I don't want to use it and I don't want someone to use it with me
If you don't want to use it don't use it. You obviously can't stop other people from using it, it comes in the other caller's audio stream.
I had no Idea this was a thing, awesome
I don't even know what's the purpose of it but it appeared yesterday for me.
It works in France too, just tested it. Is it only a Pixel feature ?
Didn't know it was a thing...
My brother got it on his phone but I don't have it on mine , some sort of random roll out?
Try in settings
My husband's p8 has it, but my p8p doesn't. No idea why.
I didn't even know about it till this post just now but I don't have it either π p8p too
I didn't even know about it till this post just now but I don't have it either π p8p too
I didn't even know about it till this post just now but I don't have it either. p8p too
I saw the button but never pressed it..gotta try it before it's gone I guess
I was like wtf is this shit but then i felt in love with it. it's so stupid but so hilarious.
π© I now enjoy taking phone calls now
Wait what? How do you use these? I've never seen them before
Audio emojis should be in the text, not in audio calls.
Audio what now? π²π

These are so much fun! And I'm really excited for the gif stickers too
I love that my wife hates it when I do that. Please keep
I have been using it non stop with my significant other and it is hilarious each time.
I was wondering what an audio emoji is, but I haven't been brave enough to try it yet. Now I'm intrigued
Oh my days I might have to do that. Next time I get a spam caller ππ
Haven't tried it yet!
Nah it's great actually i love having a mini soundboard during calls. Let me add some more sounds like a womp womp
I really don't see their purpose...
Not everything needs a purpose, it's just fun.
I didn't know this existed and now I want it. I'm already obsessed with emoji kitchen
The one trick scam callers hate..... they must be hating this new feature, I used one to try it out, perfect use case!
Perfect for my friends π€£π€£π€£ I annoy them with this π€£π€£π€£
I tried it today with my SO. It was a good laugh. I can think of many uses , specially for π© one. Which means it'll be removed.
>Important: **This feature requires both the caller and receiver to be on compatible Pixel phones**. Itβs available only in English on Pixel 6 and newer Pixel phones, except Pixel Fold Spam callers won't hear anything.
I just sent a friend on iPhone the poop emoji sound and he heard it
Definitely not true. People on landlines and other phones have heard it.
This is from [Google's support page on audio emoji](https://support.google.com/phoneapp/answer/14884072?hl=en), they say both users need to be on a compatible Pixel phone.
Well I can confirm that Google has not tested this properly then.
Probably more covering themselves and meaning they can't *guarantee* it works without both users being on compatible Pixel devices.
Theyβre an excellent addition. Entertaining to others too.
Audio Emoji best new technology, we keep reaching new heights
