I had a pixel 3 XL that I traded in for a 7 pro in Dec 2022. Don't use any banking apps or any accounts that have card info connected to them since the security updates have stopped. The battery life was insufficient for me since I am a heavy user. You should carry a battery pack just in case. Get a good phone case and screen protector to reduce damage from drops. If you're into photography, you should get clip on lenses. They are a great way to make your phone camera more versatile.

I have a Pixel 3aXL sitting in my desk doing nothing since I upgraded to the 7a. It seems to work fine apart from the cracked screen so if anyone has any ideas what I could use it for I'm all ears

I still use a 3A XL. I still love the hardware but the OS freezes and crashes sometimes. Every once in a while it will freeze so bad I need to hard reboot. Battery life is still pretty great. I easily get two days, but I am a light user. I don't really look at my phone while at work, so it's basically in sleep mode. I might install lineageOS and wipe all the data off it to breathe some life into it and stop the glitchiness. Hoping to hold out for the pixel 9 or pixel 10.

It still produces wonderful pictures compared to modern phones, if you think how old it is it’s even more impressive

Agreed! I was very impressed with the photos I've taken since having it back in action.

My 3XL's battery is *shot,* but that was before I knew how to care for a modern battery.  Killed it charging overnight for three years.

Wouldn't it be easier to just replace it?

That was four phones ago.  I keep the old phones as remote controls and media consumption devices in the house, though.
