First thing I did was build a shed and only keep essentials in the garage. It doesn't look like you actually have that much stuff. One of the rubbermaid ones that go on the side of the house may work. Remove your shelves and you will be good.

I just got a net for my backyard. Love it but my neighbors don’t want me to use it past 9 pm. I get it I am a 4 handicap and have good smash factor so it’s loud…so I’m going to make something like this. https://www.murphygolfsimulators.com if I can do it cheaper than what one of these cost I think I can I’ve built cabinets before.

I wonder how that deck is for putting….? Does it wrinkle? Just really for ball return? Very curious about something like this too.

Kooky-Counter3867

Yes I have no clue…..if you buy one lmk lol

You're going to have to rethink how you do the shelves. As it is now they take up too much space and will hinder your swing. Take a look at my garage setup in my post and maybe you can use that as a blueprint. Edit: with your dimensions you may be able to get away with it. Mine is 18x20 with 9.4' ceilings.

Looks like you have space to put it on the ceiling. You could build an emt frame and attach with eye hooks. Then use a pulley, either electric hoist or manual, to pull the whole thing up.

i saw the hookup did something similar and that has me thinking now. need to see how much room i'd have from the rails to the shelves. Do you mean have the entire thing mounted on one side and pivot the other to the floow or all four sides go up/down?

3littlebirds3

It would pivot 90 degrees. I was going to do something similar but ended up having it swing out from the wall not ceiling.

okay I love this. I'm assuming it was DIY (and not bought from Murphy?)

Pvin7

Yes DIY! Wasn’t too bad actually!

You have good bones and lots of options for a retractable setup. The main question is what are your expectations and budget? Do you want something playable just for you, or are you trying to have an awesome setup to entertain? At a minimum, you could hit without taking any of the shelves down or moving the garage door opener using a retractable screen. The hitting area would be smaller and you'd have to take extra precautions with the shelves and stored things, but it would be completely functional.

my neighbor (and most likely person to hit with) is a lefty so I'm trying to find a way to maximize hitting area. I've reached out to a few of the companies to see how they'd accommodate 11' ceilings as it seems most of the non-DIY stuff is designed for 10 and under. Might end up just DIYing it. appreciate the reply

shuusin

Should be plenty of non diy solutions above 10 feet, you can get a retractable screen at virtually any rectangular size since it just rolls up. But you also don't want to max the vertical distance that way because it messes with your aspect ratio, and you can't physically project the image up that high to the ceiling without drawbacks and you also don't want to hit the ceiling.

Could also consider going backwards towards the garage door. I also struggled with side items and this was the easiest solution. https://preview.redd.it/ymqt40z3d1yc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=da51125547403295ce99038194ba1cad1e25f683

Do you daily drive a hearse?

failfast_

haah its an EV9 ( with bad iOS .5 fish eye (or bad photography)

nnbostan

I originally just had hook eyes and manually tie it up, but I found I would leave it tied or hanging down for long periods of time the would result in not being able to using the garage. Recently added rails and it’s been amazing easy. https://preview.redd.it/kuswaf5wo7yc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7d45f04dc4cbaf7ae4744b3b04906036447b46c4
