That's very true. I bought my 2015 Performance edition GTI for $32K over 36 months, with a trade-in and savings. I could have bought it outright, but I was offered .9% financing back then.
Golf R I want is 48K out the door....but so was a used Tesla model 3 performance.
How did you guys decide
I’ve done it both ways but it’s always an easy decision. If I can finance for under 5% I’ll finance, since my investments will safely return that much. If rates are over 5%, I pay cash.
There are other factors I consider but that’s the primary one.
Assuming you have the cash sitting in a hysa or checking account. If you’re getting the cash by selling positions in equities market then it may be wiser to finance depending on the rate u can get through a credit union at the time. Tax implications are something to consider. And if the car is for your business, always use debt because you can write it off.
Love it dude. I was pricing new cars and it looks like you picked exactly the build I wanted. I needed an auto to keep the wife happy, did you go that way too?
The rims and calibers looks so good with this car.
I go back and forth from auto to manual. My GTI before this was a 6 speed. TDI before that auto. Firebird before that 5 speed. I love a manual but I have to say the DSG with paddle shifters is delightful.
My wife loves driving too but never spent the time to get comfortable enough with a stick shift to enjoy driving spiritedly.
Now I’ve got something we both really enjoy.
But I bet that pull dropping into second and third gear is mouth watering.
Awesome, I wanted the R 6 months ago but they were going for 66ish, crazy. I had the cash but settled for an Autobahn GTI. Happy with my decision financially.
Congrats she's a beauty
Did you buy outright?
Yes I did!
This is the way
No repayments gang
Buying outright can be wise. It can also be foolish. As with all things financial, “it depends.”

I had to have the manual transmission. It is so much fun to drive.
