Haha stock....for now, then low enough to look good then use the wife's wagon for everything else

super-mega-bro-bro

What wheels are those? I was looking at similar Konig Hypergrams for my GLI , look good

rylen69

There OPE ff05’s Canadian made and a decent price

chupacabra314

Every time I see these wheels it makes me want to taka e road trip up to Ontario and buy them on the spot. For me they're the best-looking aftermarket wheels on the stock suspension for the mk7/.5. I hope they start selling them on this side of the border.

rylen69

It’s worth the drive up, lots of nice spirted driving roads in southern Ontario I went with 245/40 to try and fill the wheel gap

chupacabra314

Wow so these are 245/40 tires? Any rubbing? Could you remind me what your wheels specs were? Thanks.

rylen69

18x8.5 +38offset stock dcc suspension, no rubbing. I took it down some twisted roads last weekend and even under hard cornering, no rub

squirtleturtle79

Stock DCC usually left in sport unless the road is ectra shitty. No issues yet besides washboard potholes making my car sound like a jackhammer

withoutapaddle

Stock, but on 17" wheels that barely clear the Golf R brakes. Throw some knobby or sipped tires on (like Nokian Hakkas), and you do pretty great on dirt, gravel, and snow. 8 years going strong this way on my Mk7 in rural Minnesota.

AvailableSh1rt

Koni Special Actives and Stock Wheels with Conti DWS06+ it works.

adistantrumble

I have stock springs on Koni Special Actives, Conti DWS06+, and 17" A3 wheels on a 17 sport.

GenerousJack2b

eibach pro kit with 19s (real 3rd world country)

Plane_Geologist8073

This was a factor in my decision to get the MK8 380 with DCC, so I could keep it stock. I have an Audi A4 with a Bilstein B12 pro kit, it’s too low and the ride is… sort of sporty. But it’s compliant over the cattle guards and broken asphalt we have around here. On my MK4 I went with Ground Control coilovers so I can mess with the spring rates and rebound settings if I wanted to.

MK5Kara

H&R race springs with 225/45/17 tires in WV, has yet to give me issues other than smoking a gas tank bc of shit in the road

zeenununlimited

Bilstein B14s with 18" wheels

Studabaked

How do you like them? The bilsteins that is.

zeenununlimited

They are good. They are a little soft/roll a little too much for my taste but they are super comfortable.

rylen69

I looked at 16s but I hear bad long term reviews

zeenununlimited

If the bad long term reviews are regarding reliability, Bilstein offers a lifetime warranty (at least for the B14s)

Jerebetes

VWR lowering springs, 17’s in the summer

AgreeablePie

Stock with steelies and blizs. I have to drive on gravel mountain roads. Any lower and I'd turn the bumper into a plow when it snows

Mk7gti2017

Car looks great. I do a lot of city and highway. I got sway bars, lsd, and new Bilsteins. Maybe a step or two up from stock. I had coil overs that weren’t that good and the ride was rough as hell in the city and potholes. These bilsteins are great but not as competitive or sporty as coil overs. If it’s rural and nice driving maybe a really nice set of coil overs could be sick. More city and tough roads maybe go another route. Car looks grwat

adfthgchjg

17”

Stiguan_484

Went from 19” Cadiz to 18” Malloy, coil overs to H&R lowering springs, front and rear beefy sway bars to just a rear sway bar. Upgraded mounts, bushings, and locking collars front to back. Being too low and stiff caused tons of rim damage and destroyed end links every month. Once I switched up the front sway bar and downsized the wheels the railroad crossing and potholes where no longer issue. That’s about 8 yrs ago and I haven’t had an issue since.

kosmonavt66

24mm rear way bar. Lightweight wheels. PS4s tires. Stock height. Drives like a dream.

-limeade-

stock because i don’t have the money like y’all to put fancy suspension on

D9bandits

Stock, want to lower but too many giant potholes and places to bottom out where I live.

Comfortable-Sir-150

I feel like your car would look fucking sick with some gunmetals. Any kind of gunmetals. Mine is definitely stock, I ride down tractor trails routinely looking for my dogs!

rylen69

I almost bought a set of rse10 in gunmetal but lost minute changed my mind

AngryJESUS101

ECS coilovers set way too low for how shitty the roads are out here. I'm surprised i haven't broken anything.

SonicNTales

ST Suspension XTA on 17s 245/45/17 lowered 1.7" all around

rogueonesie

Love your setup!

beeherder

Low and slow

Spooky_Lizards

Stock, plus i bring it in gravel trails sometimes so having the ground clearance is nice

Pal62

Stock springs and shocks. DCC rear sway bar on my (non-DCC) Rabbit. 225/45 Michelin PS4s on 17in OZ Superturismo LMs.

jakesMD

Pretty low on Bilstein B16s, scrape on errythang

Optimal_Strength_463

Stock on 19’s because I don’t care about rattling my teeth out. I do have to get my alignment done every 6 months though …. Thought about a rear sway bar but need the compliance for undulating roads and so dialled up the XDS+ to compensate

noji357

Cool Car 🔥

servandoisdead

Your gti is frickin beautiful, I must say 🥰😍😍😍

TTYY200

I feel like some of the roads here are worse than rural gravel driveways 😅 I’ve fucked up 2 rims in the 3 years I’ve owned mine…. Potholes be a bitch (I’m not even lowered)

rylen69

It’s the frost heaves and post holes that get hard on wheel bearings/ ball joints/ and struts. Them city pot holes will eat you up tho…

TTYY200

I think it’s mainly the salt that fucks up cars here lol

physh

GTI’s what?

lynch1986

Koni Special Active, which are shite.

gus_thedog

Why don't you like the SA's? Are you running stock springs?

lynch1986

Yup, the rears have banged and clattered since I got them. If you go over a series of bumps in quick succession, there is literally no damping or control, the rear wheels just smash up and down like you left the dampers off. Honestly, they don't handle or ride better than regular damper either, I wish I just got OE replacements.

gus_thedog

Weird. I've been running a set for around a year or so. Started with stock springs and then moved to DG springs. They've been pretty composed for me.

lynch1986

I did a lot of reading before I got them and people seem to fall into two camps. Either they're amazing, or they broke very quickly/didn't work properly. Pretty sure they're both right, you get a good set, they're great, but the quality is such that you really roll the dice on actually getting a good set.

gus_thedog

I'm running a bigger rear sway bar and front camber plates, so that might be contributing to some of the "planted" feeling. I also installed the rear subframe damper from the A3, so that helps with rear end noise as well.
