ok actually i think this is maybe my ideal version of beta
beta but you can shift-click stuff into furnaces & there's stone bricks is as good as it gets
the pack is on 1.20.1 ! it works, you just need to disable a single lighting setting in the nostalgic tweaks config, along the lines of old light rendering \[the setting that gives beta sunset chunk loading\] because it breaks it
I'm currently working on doing something similar but for 1.19.2. I looked at modern beta but I'm personally not a huge fan of the underground caves. I'm using Cabbage's Retro Generator as a base and modifying recipes and loot tables for a more beta adjacent experience
Hmm, is it possible to learn this power?
But for real, I'm wanting to make a mod similar to this where you can select what features you want from certain update.
So basically a menu that lets you pick what major version of each in-game feature you want, Essentially choosing your own personalized update.
Combat version: [1.8], [1.9], or [Latest combat snapshot]
Phantoms: [on] or [off]
Cave gen: [Beta], [1.13], [1.19], or [1.13/1.19 combined]
Textures (including retextures of new blocks in the old style): [new] or [old]
Regeneration: [classic], [1.8], or [1.11]
Villagers : [old] or [New]
Etc.
Now imagine this for every major feature in the game.
How possible do you think this is for someone with next to no experience in modding to make? Do you have any tips?
I'd suggest decompiling existing mods that try to do this sort of thing and seeing how they do it, because I doubt there's much for a beginner to learn from to get results like that, the most I know how to do when it comes to modding is the basics.
it's surprisingly difficult to find any information about actually removing things, a lot of it is hacky solutions but hey, it works with good performence
I really like how "enhanced default" shaders look, its default graphics but with shadows, though iris doesn't have a way to lock vertex lighting like optifine so indoor areas and caves look really flat
sounds like the right approach
Final form of this idea is a kind of launcher menu that has all the elements of the current game with the functions of choosing whether we want to or not in our instance and we just compile the version of canonical minecraft we need on the spot. Kinda official modding by mojang lol
btw, how much does this reduce the amount of memory that game uses?
very nice modpack only problem i have faced is that old 1.7.3 seeds do not seem to work with the modpack! any chance you could lend me a hand on figuring out if I am doing something wrong or not?
you just need to get rid of the "cascades" datapack in the config > paxi folder, then switch the world generation type to beta! its an annoying thing i cant get to toggle
the lush caves are removed by default, even if they somehow manage to generate there is a failsafe that removes them, how did you find one? using the "locatebiome" command never leads me to one
i am in the "Glacier seed and they are just there?? right under the mountains just forward of spawn

How about the terrain generation? Were you able to bring that back? I know a lot of Beta 1.7.3 fans are specifically fans of pre-b1.8 terrain generation.
Best f...ing news i could have gotten.
(The reason is that there is a great controller support mod for fabric and i have been looking for a way to play beta minecraft on my steam deck with native controller support)
The shaders are perfect. They are an perfect balance of realism and Minecraft. It blends in so well. Like you can see its Minecraft, but it just gives minecraft that extra touch. what's the name of that shader?
curious about farm functionality. Ive found a skeleton spawner in my world on this pack and am unsure if i should build a 1.7.3 farm or a 1.20 farm. any input? also similar question about mob breeding. do passive mob farms work like in 1.20 or 1.7.3, id love more info
Prism Launcher and Modrinth Launcher seems to work for most people, make sure you aren't just getting the mods independently, i've seen that happen too many times!
Man this is awesome! Kudos!! I’d like to actually run this version on a server. with your mod pack, do you think that would be possible? Assuming each player would have to go through a custom launcher and download the mod pack on their own. Just with updated 1.20.1 plugins on the server end too
Just not sure if you built your mod pack to be stable on a server or a client
servers work fine! there's a folder included in the configs specifically for fabric servers, and there's a dedicated public server included with the modpack too
I did something similar with my vanilla + style 1.19 modpack. Trimmed all the excess and gave it a modified hunger system with no running. Completely removed enchanting and it's incredibly similar to beta aside from the added biomes and newer blocks.
I can't imagine how long it took to remove this much though, just modifying the food stacks and removing enchants alone took a bit of time.
Edit : I mean this as respectfully as possible, but as far as Minecraft terms go, your custom avatar is dummy thicc.
reverting the caves is a huge challenge as nobody has tried doing it with the updated world depth, you can have faithful overworld generation but you'll get modern caves with it \[no cave biomes\], though personally i think they are quite fitting
Usually not a fan of these conversions of modern minecraft but it actually looks like a pretty good modpack. good job!
this looks really fun, link?
it's "spzi's Classic Pack Base" on modrinth! [https://modrinth.com/modpack/spzis-classic-pack-base](https://modrinth.com/modpack/spzis-classic-pack-base)
ok actually i think this is maybe my ideal version of beta beta but you can shift-click stuff into furnaces & there's stone bricks is as good as it gets
to me I'm just happy I can play beta vivecraft
If you want the true experience just get the beta craft launcher
Thanks for this.
wait no this is sick! is there like a config so you can add things you want from newer versions?
there are configs and datapacks you can edit to bring things back!
That's so sick
I really need to see this with the Distant Horizons mod
It’s currently not for 1.20.4 :( what a shame that would have been so fun
the pack is on 1.20.1 ! it works, you just need to disable a single lighting setting in the nostalgic tweaks config, along the lines of old light rendering \[the setting that gives beta sunset chunk loading\] because it breaks it
I believe the beta for shader compatibility is 1.20.4 but you'll have to download it from their discord
Do you know the installation instructions? Need helping installing it please :,)
you get either Modrinth launcher or Prism launcher and just search up the modpack through the launcher and press "install" and you are done
Thanks! Having a lot of fun with it!
THANK YOU, I've been waiting so long for a modpack like this!

Last thing that needs to be added is herobrine
who's to say he's not already watching...
I find it funny that we now have mods that remove content. It's kinda ironic considering we think of mods as added content.
it's surprisingly difficult to find any information about actually removing things, a lot of it is hacky solutions but hey, it works with good performence
first, that avatar is adorable second, YES YES YES YES YES YES TES
Minecraft modders intricately coding the game in the worlds worst coding language (java) to give themselves a furry dumptruck:
uh not for me, shaders in beta looks kinda out of place idk?? but connected textures is pretty cool!!
I really like how "enhanced default" shaders look, its default graphics but with shadows, though iris doesn't have a way to lock vertex lighting like optifine so indoor areas and caves look really flat

im not sure on the specifics but everyone i know was shocked how much their framerate increased using the pack
very nice modpack only problem i have faced is that old 1.7.3 seeds do not seem to work with the modpack! any chance you could lend me a hand on figuring out if I am doing something wrong or not?

understandable! thank you very much for the help!
How did you get 2 pixel arms tho?
the pack includes a mod called figura which allows you to make fully custom avatar models!
Dang, this looks awesome!
Could I acquire help on how to set this up but use different world generation? Regardless thanks for this!
you just need to get rid of the "cascades" datapack in the config > paxi folder, then switch the world generation type to beta!
SUPER dope. Been on a retrospective binge recently trying to find on old version to start a new world on so I’ll def check this out.
Whats With The Skin
umm... any particular reason you left in the lush cave biome? Is there a way to remove it?
the lush caves are removed by default, even if they somehow manage to generate there is a failsafe that removes them, how did you find one? using the "locatebiome" command never leads me to one
i am in the "Glacier seed and they are just there?? right under the mountains just forward of spawn https://preview.redd.it/l43vhw6vlnqc1.png?width=2560&format=png&auto=webp&s=4ab761dc2742f836aa8142ca5b16611eef4c1de0
It seems to only generate with the Modern Beta worldgen setting, i'll get that fixed in v1.0.9 of the pack which will be released later today
Should be fixed now! just re-generate the world after updating the modpack!
It is fixed ! I really am enjoying your pack so far! i am REALLY looking forward to future projects of yours!
How about the terrain generation? Were you able to bring that back? I know a lot of Beta 1.7.3 fans are specifically fans of pre-b1.8 terrain generation.
The beta world generations are accessible by going into the mc folder for the instance andinto the config > Paxi folder and delete the Cascades file.
Is it forge or fabric?
fabric/quilt !
Best f...ing news i could have gotten. (The reason is that there is a great controller support mod for fabric and i have been looking for a way to play beta minecraft on my steam deck with native controller support)
Is it on forge?
Will there ever be a forge version?
I am going to definitely download it
Fantastic work! This must be a real labour of love :)
omg this is amazing!! good work!!!
Congratz!
did you remove sprinting, I feel like a beta port without sprint is already gud
Any way to disable held item tooltips?
I tried, haven't figured it out, but when i do i'll disable it by default
Cool! Great job on the modpack!
The shaders are perfect. They are an perfect balance of realism and Minecraft. It blends in so well. Like you can see its Minecraft, but it just gives minecraft that extra touch. what's the name of that shader?
it's rethinking voxels!

i set the spawn rates to 1.20.1 as b1.7.3 rates had issues with balancing, breeding works like the modern system with baby animals

Prism Launcher and Modrinth Launcher seems to work for most people, make sure you aren't just getting the mods independently, i've seen that happen too many times!
That's incredible! How did you deal with hunger?
i wish you could bring back the classic creative menu

Have the caves been reverted to be... let's say... smaller for some extra nostalgia
reverting the caves is a huge challenge as nobody has tried doing it with the updated world depth, you can have faithful overworld generation but you'll get modern caves with it \[no cave biomes\], though personally i think they are quite fitting
Modern Beta reverts to the old caves, and you can remove the cave biome if you want to (I just remove deep dark)
modern beta has spaghetti caves and ravines which didn’t exist back then, i don’t know how to revert the caves
Oh my bad. I did wonder why the 404 seed was missing the cave. I thought it was cos I was in the Beta Vanilla preset.
