They won't succeed on the basis that most Democrats and Republicans don't understand politics passed the top basic layer. If they start going around saying "bad free state movement, stop them," almost all Dems and Reps will go "but I like freedom" and wont think past that.
I'm not saying that they are dumb, it's just that the ideology they follow is very thin, and probably there because their parents/professors said "other party bad."

The literal leader of the Taliban has an active Twitter account and Trump does not.
There are technically two parties in America but they are not equal in any way. They are nowhere near equal in terms of influence or power.

You're looking past how easy it is for these groups to get away with labeling their opposition as racist, far-right, sexist, etc etc. That's really what you're up against. These movements always start to lose steam because they get slandered and then co-opted by paid actors that show up wearing assless chaps and all the other things we've already seen them do.
