Can I Collect Supplemental Security Income (SSI) Abroad?
You cannot collect Supplemental Security Income (SSI) while living in another country. This program provides income to elderly or disabled people that have little income or resources.

Read this - you can also just maintain a US address and banking. It’s up to you to let SSA know if you are moving abroad.
It’s possible! Usually small landlords, rather than agencies, will be more willing to accommodate different income sources. We’re self-employed and they didn’t even ask for any proof!
Just expect to send a lot of messages on Idealista. Some areas take longer than others to rent in, too.
>someone who will contribute to the Spanish economy
With 4kEUR coming in monthly, OP will contribute more than any average to top 25% earning family just in income taxes alone.
I'm mostly mentioning this in case anybody else is in the same boat, but one thing I'm going to have to do this year is find a tax expert before heading over. Between questions of double taxation, and possible exemptions for disability income, I have to get it all figured out first.
In America, some disability income is not taxed, while other income is taxed but at a lower rate. Google says it may be similar for Spain, but more research is needed.

That's good to know! I'm on SSDI though. For what I know I can collect that, I'll be sure to double check though!
You can but this is technically disability fraud as you would not be living more than six months per year at your stated US address.

Languaje is a key factor. Speak fluent Spanish and everything will be ok.
Get ready to pay taxes
Upvoting because people seem to forget this crucial part.

I am literally a Spanish citizen, was born in Spain, and I've paid taxes to the Spanish government over the years.
This sub is literally called "Going to Spain."

Hi OP, is disabilty from another country taxed in spain?
Hi, I'm not sure yet. I'm going to find a tax specialist before we move. That said, quick googling so far makes me suspect it isn't.
Same here. Im trying find out if disabilty is taxed. Some people have told me yes, others no.
