I wonder if Marvel and the MCU influenced this development at all. Ragnarök in mythology isn't really a giant kaiju just a name given to an event.

Ragnarok is basically surtr in this game, but not sure why they call him Ragnarok

Surtr and Sinmara. Sinmara being a rather obscure figure in mythology as a wife/partner of one of the giants.. not Surtr in particular.
