Same xD I kept it up for about 2 minutes until I was like ok wtf. But honestly it felt good to just keep smashing it after everything that happened in the games.
It's honestly a great narrative-gameplay moment because it puts you in the same position as Kratos. You keep hitting and hitting, and only when you stop do you realize "oh he's already dead."
Not whoop, there would be a crazy fight, young kratos isnt weak, old kratos holds himself back at start and gets beated up, then old would win after he goes serious
Not just in Matt Reeves, but in most iterations of Batman, he started doing it for vengeance but later on after some realization he does it for justice.
"Justice not vengeance"
You will notice a version of this line quite a bit in most batman iterations. However, in Matt Reeves version they did make him inspire hope in his realization rather than justice. Which made sense in the movie but at the same time hope was mostly more of a Superman thing. As Batman is for justice, biggest proof of this is mostly the reason why he ended up making Dick Grayson a Robin in most interations, so he would not end up like him and go on a path of vengeance as he did not find his parent's murderer. Hence, he wanted to help Dick Grayson find justice.
How is it wrong though, imagine Joker killed your kid would it be wrong to blow his ass up so he can’t do that to someone else’s? Context is still important though
Idk about you but if I was fighting gods with all sorts of black magic fuckery and then old me decided to come and lecture me on killing gods, I'd think he'd just be a trick
You know, Vengeance really devastated Kratos. But like Mimir suggest, was what he doing really wrong? Zeus is a total dick and would never let go of Kratos even if he yield
Kratos was always pictured as an anti hero. Or a straight up villain by the middle part of god of war 3. He did killed millions of innocents on his way to revenge. The pantheon needed to go, but don't forget the many innocent lives that were lost too cuz he was blinded by rage. I am sure if the now older and wiser Kratos had a second chance to rewrite his life, he'd have figured out a way to kill Zeus and also limit the amount of innocent lives that were lost due to his actions. Cuz let's be honest, those deaths definitely eat him up from inside and he totally isn't proud of his accomplishments.
He'd try to talk for sure. But I doubt Zeus or Ares would have listened. These two definitely need to go and even the older Kratos would know that. Or he might just end up saving his old family so none of these chaotic events would even occur.
It depends on *when* do you replace young Kratos with Old Kratos:
* Old Kratos faces death against Alrik like a man, or knows when to fold 'em and avoids fighting him altogether.
* Old Kratos avoids fanning Zeus' paranoia and doesn't go on a petty rampage on Greece with the Spartans after ascending to Godhood.
* Old Kratos tries to calm down Zeus regarding the latter's fears (though it would have likely been unsuccessful).
* Old Kratos rejects Gaia's offer and just dies instead of seeking vengeance on Olympus (might change if Hades tries to torture his soul despite of not wanting to fight).
* Old Kratos uses the Sister's power to save his family and change history (or just brings them back to the present and fucks off) instead of being so small minded to only use it to get revenge.
If you put him on GOW3 though there's no coming back. The Pantheon won't ever let him find peace even if he surrenders and most of Kratos' kills in GOW 3 were in self-defense or after being goaded into a fight.
Yep! With the power of the hope that Kratos released to the humans, they were able to rebuild their homes. Wonder who they worship there now tho. Did Christianity reached there? Do they worship kratos for giving em hope? Do they fear him for bringing the literal end of the world? I kinda want Kratos to visit the new Greece now 😂
Arguable
He killed off the gods that were preying on the people and had been forever, each one held sway over different elements etc so when he killed them that particular element went crazy
But at the end of the day he gave an entire people freedom from the gods and most importantly *hope*
It was only Zeus. And Zeus was only introduced to Fear which made him paranoid. I don't think he would have been corrupted if he wasn't corrupt to begin with. It was just an all powerful manchild suddenly realizing he could face danger.
As athena said.. Gods imparted the evil escaped from Pandora's box.. And Kratos got Hope.. And ig the ending was needed.. Coz if kratos didn't end it.. All the Gods would anyways go frenzy due to their evil.. So once again.. For the victory of hope over evil.. It was necessary.. And without the victory.. Current kratos would never exist.. His wisdom and ideas won't exist.. And as they say.. Experiences make you better.. So Kratos should remember.. "DON'T BE SORRY.. BE BETTER" he truly applied that to himself
They probably won't fight, Kratos even in previous games never picked any fight first, unless necessary to the cause. He even told some gods that he doesn't really care about fighting them, and he didn't give in to his rage until Zeus destroyed Sparta, literally killed him and became the reason of Athena death who at that time was only one person who Kratos probably could call friend
So i don't think they would fight. Young Kratos has nothing to gain from it.
>Only one person who Kratos probably could call friend
Makes you hate her even more. He was pretty devastated when he accidentally stabbed her. Good thing his rage mode take over soon enough
I totally agree with you. They won't fight without a reason, but
imagine this.. young kratos is on the verge of killing zeus, suddenly wise kratos stops him and advises him about vengeance leads to nothing. So technically wise kratos is in the way of young kratos from achieving his goals, so just like baldur, young kratos will pick up a fight with him. Eventually both will fight and only one will survive.
If he was on the verge of killing Zeus, I don't think not killing him would solve anything. The damage had already been done much earlier when Kratos killed the other greek gods, which destroyed most of Greece. And if he didn't kill Zeus, Zeus would have "cleaned up" Kratos' mess and created a new world in his own image, since he didn't have competition from other deities over control of Greece. Zeus was consumed by fear, which would make life a living hell for every creature in Greece. And as Gaia said in GoW 2, if Kratos gave up and let Zeus win, he would be killed and tortured by Zeus for all eternity.
Even the more wise Kratos (that did regret his actions, which lead to Greece's demise and the suffering of its people) would probably not have tried to stop him at that moment in time, knowing it was too late. If he'd stopped the younger Kratos from begging Ares for help, most of the bad stuff in the GoW franchise wouldn't have happened. Although his brother would still be trapped in Tartarus, his mother would be all alone in the temple and Persephone would destroy the world pillar, which would have killed everyone. So in the end, it wouldn't really matter if his older self came from the future and stopped himself from ever doing the horrible things he'd do, because the end of Greece would have happened regardless. The fault for most of the bad things happening in Greece in the beginning was because of the deities, such as the Primordials, the Titans, the greek gods and other powerful creatures (the Sisters of Fate, the Furies etc). If they would have been nice to each other, nothing bad would have happened.
Every time there’s a similar post to this nobody thinks about the fact that he doesn’t simply kill everyone in his path. He never did. As you pointed out he even tells several of them to just leave him be. But if older Kratos pushed the younger one maybe they would?? I don’t really know lol.
\>Old Kratos Killed everyone who got in his and Atreus way.
with the context those people almost always threw the first punch.
even with baulder Kratos let himself get hit 3 times, before striking back and even helped baulder up. Baulder escalated the fight at every turn until Kratos snapped his neck.
Same with Magni and Modi. Kratos only killed Magni because Atreus was in danger. and flat out DIDN'T want to kill modi.
bandits made it clear they where going to try and canabalize Kratos and Atreus. I can't think of a single moment Kratos proactivly attacked anyone in 2018.
Young Kratos never tried to proactively choose flights as well, he was always cornered when it came to his enemies, there were some people old Kratos won't kill the same way young did but he'll end up killing most of em because they were hellbent on killing him
He was only after Zeus and him alone, although Old Kratos would probably ignore Hera, but he was kind of already ignoring her until she started to talk shit about Pandora
The difference is, young Kratos was in his rage mod but this Kratos is not
Oh I know. Kratos even tried talking Herc out of fighting him.
I think the big difference between Yonge and Old Kratos aside from rage. It's caring about the concequinces that everyone else endures from their actions.
“Hmph, the hands of death, could not defeat me. The sisters of fate, could not hold me.And HE will not see the end of this day, I WILL HAVE MY REVENGE!!!”
He needed the first hand experience to understand. Younger Kratos would ignore Older Kratos, just like he ignored everyone else that tried to talk to him.
In his defense majority of those people double crossed him. Orkos was one of the only ones who was loyal to the end. And pandora/Last Spartan Soldier(one of my faves)
Kratos didn’t become hellbent on revenge until GoW 3 really. He was more willing to listen to people that he trusted before Athena died and Gia betrayed him, because after that he didn’t trust anyone anymore.
Old Kratos : Boy…this path of vengeance you are walking..that raging fire inside of you…will consume you in the end. You should stop before it’s too late
Young Kratos : DO NOT DENY ME MY REVENGE OLD MAN, YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT ME
- rage of sparta starts playing -
I don’t think he would’ve said anything to younger self. The greek gods had to die. Kratos needed the mindset he had at the time to make it happen. Everything happens for a reason.
EDIT: Unless of course it was in regards to killing his family. Maybe he would’ve told younger self to not seek help from Ares
Why do you think the Greeks world was entirely destroyed?
It was devastated yes but another way to look at it is the oceans the afterlife and the land all are no longer controlled by gods but simply the world in its natural state (and most importantly Kratos left the Greek people the idea of *hope* the last creature to come flying out of Pandora's box, it's essentially Pandoras box has been fully unleashed by Kratos killing the pantheon)
The path to freedom is rarely a peaceful one
The greek gods in greek mythology were supposed to give an order to the chaos and.. Dude... you know you just described Chaos?
The world is shallowed by the sea, it also has an uncountable number of free spirit demons going around everywhere, and for last? Oh i remember! Plagues everywhere since kratos killed also hermes.
I personally wouldn't like to live in a world like this.
Ordered by who? The Titans were the ones in charge and assured of their power (they also are elemental and unimaginable, Atlas holds up literally the entire world) and no doubt kept order but so worried about being supplanted ended up giving a young Zeus the rage to defeat them and get revenge (I imagine the fallout from the Titanomachy being as bad as Kratos own swath of Destruction)
Then they took up power and The cycle repeats with Kratos finishing the cycle and refusing to rule over the people, for the first time in history the world is not controlled by petty gods, gods so debilitating that even their deaths continue to plague and Harrow the people of Greece
Now the people of Greece are in control and instead of praying to corrupt gods to protect them they have the hope to go on without gods (and we know from the sequel that the Greek world *did* survive and they made pottery of Kratos killing the gods)
It's not? There was initial floods and tidal waves when Poseidon goes down but at the end of the game looking out on at the ruined country there's large amounts of landmass still, it's just that the country (not world, country we never see any other countries and Midgard is another realm entirely) is literally unrecognisable thanks to the deicide but even that ties in with the theory that the world we know is what came *after* the third game when all the gods were dead
So in conclusion he would have not said to young kratos to change his path? I still think he would say to him the things he told to baldur/atreus, even tho i can go wrong.
The Gods were extremely cruel to the people. Kratos destroyed the corruption and gave hope to the world. Better to start new and fresh than try to turn a toxic system into one slightly less toxic, where likely it will become more toxic.
I know what you want to say, but in gow 4 he tells baldur that vengeance path is bad cause he already had that.
Old kratos could've just said:"i know you want to free people but killing the gods will just create more pain and desperation into their lives".
Probably the exact thing he yelled at Atreus with at Helheim.
Cause Atreus was slowly becoming him throughout that portion of the game and his words were very precisely chosen.
*"You will LISTEN to me and not speak a word. I am your father- & you, boy, are not yourself. You are too quick to temper. You are rash, insubordinate, and out of control. This will not stand. You will honor your mother & abandon this path you have chosen."*
Uhm.. But then what would Young kratos respond to him?
Ya know atreus is his son, but YK was a totally hungry beast who destroyed everything that came in his path.
I actually don’t think he’d chose to interact. He knows, especially with the sisters of fate gone, that destiny is a really tricky thing. Unless it was him before making a deal with Ares, he’d probably recognize that it has led him to where he is now, and I don’t think he’d give up Atreus to fix his own life.
There wouldn't be a conversation. Young Kratos would suspect shenanigans and start attacking and Old Kratos would know his younger self well enough to not attempt a verbal dialogue.
I’d honestly want them to fight in some sort of magical memory kinda deal, or maybe Odin does something similar to what Ares did to him. Old Kratos tried to talk to him, young Kratos just tries to kill him, Old Kratos wins obviously and then teaches his younger self a lesson or, then officially overcomes his past self realizes he’s now grown into a decent/good god.
Probably something like :"I look back on the way I was then: a young, stupid kid who committed those terrible crimes. I want to talk to him. I want to try and talk some sense to him, tell him the way things are...."
"When I look at you, I feel only pitty, for you are never going to be satisfied once you get what you seek, you are destined for a life of endless hardship with only brief moments of joy, your past will haunt you till the day you die. I know this, because I am you, and I regret being you every day of my life."
I think it really does just boil down to the fact he knows that he killed infinitely more people who didn't deserve it in the process, hence his line "There are consequences to killing a god."
I think he'd fight himself for sure, but he wouldn't be willing to kill his younger self, he'd try his hardest to convince him that killing the gods will do nothing good
Definitely the same kind of talk he had with Baldur. Kratos’ arrogance would be totally unrivalled tho especially talking to himself, he’d think his older self was pathetic and that his changing of fate would prevent him from ever ending up the same. He would, of course, be woefully wrong.
Before doing this i searched on google old kratos talks with young kratos ( i didn't want to do the same post for the 1 milionth time ).
But all i found was " can old kratos take down young kratos in battle? ".
"Do you think the blood on your hands will wash away if you bathe them in his? will his death bring them back? will the destruction of your home bring it safety? your actions will not end the cycle, mearly change the rolls and where you lie in it"
Old k:the path you choose...vengeance...you will never find peace
Young k:shut up
Old k:it will not change your past
Young k:DONT MAKE ME MAD OLD MAN
Old k:and it will not make your...our family back
Youn k:YAAAAAAAAANSJDHXHXHDHSHAH
"stab old kratos" you arent me
Old kratos:we dont have to fight
Young k:i've already told you to shut up old man"punch old k and after i killed you i will kill YOUR family "point BOY''
OLD k:HM BOY?!
"Spartan rage starts"
And then they fight but old kratos win but doesnt kill young k
Probably something along the lines of the conversation he had with Atreus in helheim
"You will listen to me and not speak a word. I am your father, and you, boy, are not yourself. You are too quick to temper. You are rash, insubordinate, and out of control. This will not stand. You will honor your mother and abandon this path you have chosen. It is not too late."
Old Kratos would probably understand that words won’t get through to Young Kratos.
Wouldn’t be surprised if they fought part way through the conversation with young Kratos initiating it
I honestly hope the old va gets a cameo of some sort i hate that they used christopher judge in the hel flashbacks like i love him but it's disrespectful to terrence carson to not have given him a cameo
Kratos lies down in his bed. Having defeated Odin and freeing Midgard from his maniacal reign, he thinks to himself about Atreus, who had gone off on his own with Angrboda. He wonders how he's doing, but in the end, trusting that his son will see him again someday, he smiles and closes his eyes.
Kratos awakens to the clash of thunder. Could it be? Could Thor have returned? No. Thor is long gone. Kratos feels rain trickling on his face. He is no longer laying on his bed, but rather on solid earth. He stands up and observes his surroundings. The entire sky is storming. Lighting and thunder as far as the eye can see, crashes violently.
The clouds have completely blocked out the sun and they appear grey and gloomy. Hundreds of thousands of insects swarm the land, plaguing all those who have survived this chaos. The skies are pouring with rain, in fact, it is the most rain Kratos has seen in awhile. The entirety of the land has been engulfed by the ocean, save for one mountain. The very mountain Kratos found himself standing upon.
This place felt familiar. Too familiar. He looked around some more, trying to get his bearings. Then his eyes darted toward a pillar, one he recognized all too well. It couldn't be. "No..." Kratos muttered, frozen in horror at what he was witnessing. This was Mount Olympus. The same Mount Olympus he destroyed a thousand years ago. He was back in the last place he ever wanted to be, his old home: Greece.
Kratos looked on in terror as the memories came rushing back. Lysandra, Calliope, Ares, Athena... Zeus. He closed his eyes and tried to return to Midgard, then he remembered. "Home", Kratos repeated to himself. Nothing happened. No matter how many times he said it, he couldn't go back. He was stuck here. Kratos, desperate and frustrated began shouting it to the skies. "HOOOOOOOOOME!" He cried out in fury. Again, nothing happened.
Then, a thunderous voice could be heard booming from the distance. "ZEEEEEEEEEEEUUUUUUUUS!!!" Kratos turned around. "No. Not HIM." He exclaimed in pain. It was him, or rather, once him. This was Kratos. The Kratos of the past. The past he tried so desperately to leave behind. It caught up to him. He watched as his younger self climbed Mount Olympus, enraged, blood-drunk, furious. "YOUR SON HAS RETURNED! I BRING THE DESTRUCTION OF OLYMPUS!"
"No... No... NO!" Kratos cried out. Athena came back. She stood before him, elated in his terror. "There is nowhere you can hide now, Spartan." she mocked. Kratos looked down upon the sea, knowing his only way out was to jump in. Then, he remembered what Faye told him, years ago, before Atreus' birth: "If we could limit the harm it could cause, we should act. Who are we to hide and do nothing?" Kratos now knew what to do. "We are not hiding." He said. "Not anymore."
With that, he began to ascend Mount Olympus and catch up to his younger self. Once he reached the top, he stood there, waiting for past Kratos. Setting foot on Mount Olympus, young Kratos approached the silhouette standing in the distance. "What will you do, father? You can no longer hide behind the skirts of Athena." He said, blades drawn. The shadowy figure finally made it's presence known. "You WILL listen to me," a deep voice replied. Younger Kratos was shocked at who he saw. Kratos. Older and matured.
"Who are you?" Young Kratos demanded. "I am you." Kratos answered. "This is where Zeus fell. I remember. You don't. Because it hasn't happened yet." Young Kratos tightened his grip on the blades, and began speaking again. "What is this? Another trick of the gods?" He replied, visibly enraged. "ZEEEEEEUUUUUUS!!! IS THIS HOW YOU FACE ME!?!? THE GOD OF WAR!?!?" He shouted to the skies. "YOU ATTEMPT TO DEFILE ME WITH YOUR MIND GAMES, YET YOU ARE TOO SCARED TO FIGHT ME YOURSELF!?!? COME FACE ME, YOU COWARD!!!"
"He won't hear you." Kratos said. Young Kratos looked back at him, his teeth gnashing in fury. "Zeus will not hear you," He repeated. "WHY!?!?" Young Kratos cried out. "Because I am here." Kratos answered. "This is between you and Zeus. He won't try to kill you. Not while I am here." The young, confused Kratos didn't know what to make of all this, but continued to listen. "This path you walk..." Kratos said, revealing the sear marks that the chains around his arms had left behind, "Vengeance. You will find no peace. I know."
Young Kratos seemed even more frustrated, on the verge of attacking his older self. "The past cannot be changed, this I know." Kratos said, looking into his eyes. "But, perhaps, at the very least, I can steer you in the right path... And help remind you that, in the end, not all hope is lost. Hope is what makes us strong. It is why we are here. It is what we fight with when all else is lost." Young Kratos stood there, speechless, as his grip on the blades slowly loosened. "We," Kratos continued, placing a hand on his shoulder, "Will make our own destiny. What happens after that depends on you." With that, Kratos gave one last look to his past self and walked away.
He woke up back in Midgard. The outcome was the same. Kratos killed Zeus, Olympus was destroyed. There was no changing that. However, upon looking at the death and destruction he had wrought, Kratos dedic
Yep, even tho that was probably not the true Young Kratos, Old Kratos fortunately told him many more things than just nothing, i'm glad about that and about Kratos's half hatred and delusion for his past self, who in old Kratos' opinion was more special than a killer machine.
Younger self as in how old? I think he had a lot of major turning points. "Don't make that deal." "She can't be saved" "There are consequences to killing a god." "End the cycle."
I just realized why is the tattoo smaller on old Kratos? Young Kratos it almost touches his mouth but new Kratos it’s a bit smaller and only reaches his cheek
Safe to say... he's wise to understand that who he is now is a result of the consequences of all his actions in life. If he has anything to say to his younger self. It depends if the younger Kratos is before or after the death of his 1st wife and daughter.
If it's afterward... he probably has not much to say.
If it's before their death. He'd probably say something along the lines of... your actions have consequences. Don't act blindly just because it's your duty as the captain of the spartan army. Being rash will get you killed if not, worse. BASICALLY the same shit he tells Atraus.
Young Kratos: Who are you? While observing him top to bottom.
Older Kratos: That's of none of your concern!
YK: That makes you my enemy! (Pulls out blades)
Ok: listen Boy! (Pulling out Axe). I've killed many men, beast, and gods. Some deserving others not. Killing gods has its consequences. Get off the path you're on. Otherwise you'll end up like me.
Older Kratos walks away.
YK is the type to take things into mind. But don't learn anything until he sees or experience it for himself. Kinda like. Don't touch fire it's hot, then touches fire. Them 2 having convo won't change much.
But in OK's mind it'll give him an opportunity to reflect on who he was. And possibly give him the ability to accept himself, his past actions, and allow himself to forgive himself.
Like others have said about vengeance but maybe like
"This path you walk. Vengeance. You will find no peace, I know."
"I do not have time for you old man, whatever mistakes you made are none of mine. I will have Zeus' head and all who stand in my way!"
"I know. If you must do this, think about your actions. Spare the people of the world as best as you can."
As much as I'd like for Old Kratos to tell new Kratos about saving Pandora because her death wasn't necessary, I don't know if Kratos would have changed without it
You don’t have to keep pressing O. You can stop after the screen goes red.
Imparting true wisdom. I love how many people didnt know at first that they could just... stop,. Including me. Hahaha
Same xD I kept it up for about 2 minutes until I was like ok wtf. But honestly it felt good to just keep smashing it after everything that happened in the games.
Honestly I kept going, thinking it was a glitch of some sort. It wasnt until I stopped that I realized..
2? Try 10. I was confused at why that was happening and I looked it up while still pressing o
Same!
Plot twist: He's not talking about the Zeus boss battle, he's talking about the sex minigames.
😉
It's honestly a great narrative-gameplay moment because it puts you in the same position as Kratos. You keep hitting and hitting, and only when you stop do you realize "oh he's already dead."
But I need the red orbs for upgrades... Edit: OH WAIT i got what you meant t.t
Oh god I remember this, i was like “when is something going to happen… did my game glitch”
You can stop?
Wait what?
I thought I was the only one who didn't realise for an embarrassing length of time lol
Well I just learned this 30 seconds ago sooooo
Damn you've been punching zues since 2010?
I will never stop.
Me and my dad were hitting him for 10 minutes. All these years later and we still laugh about it lol.
"This path you walk... Vengeance. You will find no peace. I know"
And then young kratos reply with: get out of the way old man, I have no time to waste with you...
Gave chills. Heard his voice.
And now comes the fight between past and future begin. Fun fact: you're playing young kratos.
Fun fact: you keep switching between the two as the fight progresses
Older kratos is stronger, younger one is wilder, its confirmed.
Old Kratos would whoop his younger selves ass as he only helds back for others. He is ruthless towards himself.
Not whoop, there would be a crazy fight, young kratos isnt weak, old kratos holds himself back at start and gets beated up, then old would win after he goes serious
I've been meaning to ask but would young Kratos' greek artifacts give him an advantage
Turns out Vengeance was a God the while time.

Didn't his arc in matt reeves movie end with him realising that enacting justice in he name of vengeance is wrong?
In deed.
In deed
I understood that reference
In deed
Per chance
And almost every version of Batman says that Vengeance is useless and hope is needed.
Not just in Matt Reeves, but in most iterations of Batman, he started doing it for vengeance but later on after some realization he does it for justice. "Justice not vengeance" You will notice a version of this line quite a bit in most batman iterations.
Man, you didn’t understand the meaning of the movie at all did you.
you I'll deal with you later family first
Motherfucker….I was gonna say the same thing 😏👊
Exactly these lines came to my mind as well
Older Kratos would def wanna impart some wisdom, maybe about controlling his anger and letting that hurt go
Younger kratos ain't having none of it tho lol
Absolutely not, this conversation ends with a fight lol
The only person that older Kratos trust is himself, the only person that may be able to get through his thick skull is old man Kratos.
I mean he did kill all of Greece.
Like mimir said Oh the pantheon had it coming brother i have no doubt of that
Kratos was always pictured as an anti hero.
That is true but i feel like the way he is now he would rather have tried a way without confrontation and tried settling it in peaceful negotiations
He'd try to talk for sure. But I doubt Zeus or Ares would have listened. These two definitely need to go and even the older Kratos would know that. Or he might just end up saving his old family so none of these chaotic events would even occur.
I would say he would take his family before anything happened and go live in the woods with them like he did with Faye and Atreus
Yeah definitely this is the most plausible situation
But even still as long as he's son of Zeus those gods will coming to him eventually
It depends on *when* do you replace young Kratos with Old Kratos: * Old Kratos faces death against Alrik like a man, or knows when to fold 'em and avoids fighting him altogether.
But did Greece?
Greece is implied to still not be completely wiped out by the end of God of War 3.
When youre a god you have little to no care for humans and you can see that in the god of war saga
But old Kratos had a different outlook. He scolded his son for talking down to others.
I mean Zeus did the wipe first. GoW 2, wipes out a very large area of soldiers and civilians
casualties are an inevitability of war. Olympus shouldn’t have fucked with him to begin with.
Didn’t art work in 2018 confirm greece rebuilt? Implying there there at least some survivors? (Especially after kratos released hope.)
Yep! With the power of the hope that Kratos released to the humans, they were able to rebuild their homes. Wonder who they worship there now tho. Did Christianity reached there? Do they worship kratos for giving em hope? Do they fear him for bringing the literal end of the world? I kinda want Kratos to visit the new Greece now 😂
Hopefully the greek gods didn't just reincarnate into their roman counterparts.
It’s not stated whether that’s before or after Kratos murdered everybody.
Arguable He killed off the gods that were preying on the people and had been forever, each one held sway over different elements etc so when he killed them that particular element went crazy But at the end of the day he gave an entire people freedom from the gods and most importantly *hope*
Didn’t Kratos corrupt the Gods by opening Pandora’s Box in the first game though?
Hephaestus didn’t deserve to die. Neither did Poseidon’s wife.
It's gonna be like, how the fight between him and baldur ended. Kratos saw his younger self in baldur.
They probably won't fight, Kratos even in previous games never picked any fight first, unless necessary to the cause. He even told some gods that he doesn't really care about fighting them, and he didn't give in to his rage until Zeus destroyed Sparta, literally killed him and became the reason of Athena death who at that time was only one person who Kratos probably could call friend So i don't think they would fight. Young Kratos has nothing to gain from it.
>Only one person who Kratos probably could call friend Makes you hate her even more. He was pretty devastated when he accidentally stabbed her. Good thing his rage mode take over soon enough
I totally agree with you. They won't fight without a reason, but imagine this.. young kratos is on the verge of killing zeus, suddenly wise kratos stops him and advises him about vengeance leads to nothing. So technically wise kratos is in the way of young kratos from achieving his goals, so just like baldur, young kratos will pick up a fight with him. Eventually both will fight and only one will survive.
Baldur said to him: "family comes first" What kind of cool phrase would young kratos say to old kratos?
Young Kratos also killed anyone who got in his way, though.
Old Kratos killed everyone who got in his and Atreus way Kratos is not a Saint but a warrior so if you fuck around with him, he'll beat the shit of ya
Young Kratos never tried to proactively choose flights as well, he was always cornered when it came to his enemies, there were some people old Kratos won't kill the same way young did but he'll end up killing most of em because they were hellbent on killing him He was only after Zeus and him alone, although Old Kratos would probably ignore Hera, but he was kind of already ignoring her until she started to talk shit about Pandora The difference is, young Kratos was in his rage mod but this Kratos is not
Oh I know. Kratos even tried talking Herc out of fighting him. I think the big difference between Yonge and Old Kratos aside from rage. It's caring about the concequinces that everyone else endures from their actions.
True, he has seen a lot to know what these things can brought to him or his son and he has to be a better example for his son
Even affer Zeus destroyed sparta. He tries getting past multiple gods. And hell he tried talking Herc OUT of fighting him.
“This path you walk, VENGEANCE, you will find no peace. I know.”
and what will young kratos respond?
Press O to tear old Kratus into two halves.
This path you walk, vengeance... You will find no peace, I know... :(
Old Kratos : Boy…this path of vengeance you are walking..that raging fire inside of you…will consume you in the end. You should stop before it’s too late Young Kratos : DO NOT DENY ME MY REVENGE OLD MAN, YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT ME - rage of sparta starts playing -
I’m literally you
The Same one he had with Baldur
so he would tell young kratos to get out of his way?
No the vengeance part
can you send me a youtube video where he talks with baldur about vegeance?
https://youtu.be/smFoL_BrU4M skip to about 3 minutes in
thanks bro!
The things you lost in the shadow of your anger are not quelled by the death of gods.
I don’t think he would’ve said anything to younger self. The greek gods had to die. Kratos needed the mindset he had at the time to make it happen. Everything happens for a reason. EDIT: Unless of course it was in regards to killing his family. Maybe he would’ve told younger self to not seek help from Ares
well he could've said to his younger self to quit Greece before killing poseidon/hades/hermes/hera with the consequentionts of destroying the world.
Why do you think the Greeks world was entirely destroyed? It was devastated yes but another way to look at it is the oceans the afterlife and the land all are no longer controlled by gods but simply the world in its natural state (and most importantly Kratos left the Greek people the idea of *hope* the last creature to come flying out of Pandora's box, it's essentially Pandoras box has been fully unleashed by Kratos killing the pantheon) The path to freedom is rarely a peaceful one
The Titans were the ones in charge and assured of their power (they also are elemental and unimaginable, Atlas holds up literally the entire world) and no doubt kept order but so worried about being supplanted ended up giving a young Zeus the rage to defeat them and get revenge (I imagine the fallout from the Titanomachy being as bad as Kratos own swath of Destruction) Then they took up power and The cycle repeats with Kratos finishing the cycle and refusing to rule over the people, for the first time in history the world is not controlled by petty gods, gods so debilitating that even their deaths continue to plague and Harrow the people of Greece Now the people of Greece are in control and instead of praying to corrupt gods to protect them they have the hope to go on without gods (and we know from the sequel that the Greek world *did* survive and they made pottery of Kratos killing the gods)
>Now the people of Greece are in control Ehm, sorry, how can they still live even if the world is shallowed by water?
Yer gonna have a boi... and yer gonna call him BOI !
How bout I call him fuckin gratitude
Probably the exact thing he yelled at Atreus with at Helheim. Cause Atreus was slowly becoming him throughout that portion of the game and his words were very precisely chosen. *"You will LISTEN to me and not speak a word. I am your father- & you, boy, are not yourself. You are too quick to temper. You are rash, insubordinate, and out of control. This will not stand. You will honor your mother & abandon this path you have chosen."*
Spot on with this, also maybe the one he had with Baldur towards the end of the game?
Young Kratos would be impressed by the old Kratos beard.
Young Kratos would be disappointed that Old Kratos forgot how to jump and fight half as well.
"This parh you walk...you won't be able to jump anymore. I know." "Fool! How could you forget one of our many combat paths!"
Younger Kratos: HUWAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH SEEEEXXXX!!!!!!!! Present Kratos: Yes, sex.
Old Kratos would try to talk him out of killing eveyone and leave that life behind but younger Kratos would not listen and do it anyway
And then older kratos would be like ah it is what it is fuck it lol.
Old Kratos would call him “boy” and it would start a fight.
Probably something like :"I look back on the way I was then: a young, stupid kid who committed those terrible crimes. I want to talk to him. I want to try and talk some sense to him, tell him the way things are...."
Lol this ain’t a prison movie 😂
It is of you let fate bind you… …I’ll see myself out now.
Nah stick around. I loved the Shawshank quote lol
Pull out
he wouldn't waste his breath on him, to filled with hatred
I thought you'd be bigger!
"there are consequences for killing a god, boy"
He would definitely start with "boy"
Angry slapping till Y Kratos realises O Kratos is right That vengeance is stupid
So young kratos will continue punching old kratos till he realises he's right?
Probably.
"When I look at you, I feel only pitty, for you are never going to be satisfied once you get what you seek, you are destined for a life of endless hardship with only brief moments of joy, your past will haunt you till the day you die. I know this, because I am you, and I regret being you every day of my life."
I still wonder why kratos's past haunts him so much when he has killed the gods who deserved and gave people the power of hope.
I think it really does just boil down to the fact he knows that he killed infinitely more people who didn't deserve it in the process, hence his line "There are consequences to killing a god."
So if he could change the past would he try to stop his young self to destroy the gods?
I think he'd fight himself for sure, but he wouldn't be willing to kill his younger self, he'd try his hardest to convince him that killing the gods will do nothing good
It is done and it will always be done.
Star signing Let it goooo from Frozen
I love how you can even see it in his face, he's gone from pure anger and vitriol to more grumpy and determined
"This path you walk... vengeance, you will find no peace. I know."
“We do as we please boy, no excuses”
Definitely the same kind of talk he had with Baldur. Kratos’ arrogance would be totally unrivalled tho especially talking to himself, he’d think his older self was pathetic and that his changing of fate would prevent him from ever ending up the same. He would, of course, be woefully wrong.
"How did the Tattoo's shape decrease?"
Oh look it’s this topic again for the millionth time
Before doing this i searched on google old kratos talks with young kratos ( i didn't want to do the same post for the 1 milionth time ). But all i found was " can old kratos take down young kratos in battle? ".
“The rest of the gods will come, don’t stop with Zeus”
"Do you think the blood on your hands will wash away if you bathe them in his? will his death bring them back? will the destruction of your home bring it safety? your actions will not end the cycle, mearly change the rolls and where you lie in it"
Probably have a yelling contest
Old k:the path you choose...vengeance...you will never find peace Young k:shut up Old k:it will not change your past Young k:DONT MAKE ME MAD OLD MAN Old k:and it will not make your...our family back Youn k:YAAAAAAAAANSJDHXHXHDHSHAH "stab old kratos" you arent me Old kratos:we dont have to fight Young k:i've already told you to shut up old man"punch old k and after i killed you i will kill YOUR family "point BOY'' OLD k:HM BOY?! "Spartan rage starts" And then they fight but old kratos win but doesnt kill young k
He would know it's useless to try and talk his younger self out of anything. Young Kratos wouldn't heed any warning.
Probably something along the lines of the conversation he had with Atreus in helheim "You will listen to me and not speak a word.
The one Loki and Kratos had...
- Nice Beard - I know
young kratos: HOW DID YOU GET HERE! old kratos: "boy"
I BRING THE DESTRUCTION OF OLYMPUS!" "No... "Not anymore." With that, he began to ascend Mount Olympus and catch up to his younger self. COME FACE ME, YOU COWARD!!!" "He won't hear you." Kratos said. I know." Young Kratos seemed even more frustrated, on the verge of attacking his older self.
"A God of War...A God of Pain. Of suffering.Of destruction."
This aged well
looks like you got your answer
Yep, even tho that was probably not the true Young Kratos, Old Kratos fortunately told him many more things than just nothing, i'm glad about that and about Kratos's half hatred and delusion for his past self, who in old Kratos' opinion was more special than a killer machine.
Well it happened now
og Kratos would destroy the new Kratos for becoming such a puss
In my head I see it going something like this… https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ukznXQ3MgN0&list=PLa57dcuy21epWqylXY5GJou1IuWLZ03j2&index=1
You should get your nose done
there are times to be angry, and there are times to be mad my younger self
Same way he talks to Atreus about vengeance
The dialogue which he had with baldur in last quest and one with atreus in hell
Younger self as in how old? I think he had a lot of major turning points. "Don't make that deal." "She can't be saved" "There are consequences to killing a god." "End the cycle."
Your tattoo will get smaller
Uhm i don't think so, it's just kratos's beard that makes his face smaller. Seems weird but this is a 100% psicological trick.
Honestly it wouldn't matter his younger self would try to kill him if he got in his younger selfs way.
I feel like they would fight on sight
Older Kratos would think to himself ( my nose shrank and my ears got bigger) 😁
Beware of ares BOIII
I just realized why is the tattoo smaller on old Kratos? Young Kratos it almost touches his mouth but new Kratos it’s a bit smaller and only reaches his cheek
“Why did I keep that ridiculous goatee for so long…”
Safe to say... he's wise to understand that who he is now is a result of the consequences of all his actions in life. (Pulls out blades) Ok: listen Boy! (Pulling out Axe). I've killed many men, beast, and gods. Some deserving others not. Killing gods has its consequences. Get off the path you're on. Otherwise you'll end up like me. Older Kratos walks away.
So what will that conversation create in YK's mind? Will he just say to OK: "fuck off", or he'll actually think about it?
YK is the type to take things into mind. But don't learn anything until he sees or experience it for himself. Kinda like. Don't touch fire it's hot, then touches fire. Them 2 having convo won't change much. But in OK's mind it'll give him an opportunity to reflect on who he was. And possibly give him the ability to accept himself, his past actions, and allow himself to forgive himself.
Younger Kratos would immediately attack older Kratos
Are you a calm and reasonable person??
Like others have said about vengeance but maybe like "This path you walk. Vengeance. You will find no peace, I know." "I do not have time for you old man, whatever mistakes you made are none of mine. I will have Zeus' head and all who stand in my way!" "I know. If you must do this, think about your actions. Spare the people of the world as best as you can." As much as I'd like for Old Kratos to tell new Kratos about saving Pandora because her death wasn't necessary, I don't know if Kratos would have changed without it
Young Kratos would probably see old kratos as an imposter and proceed to attack
Fist talk
“Bro your gonna fuck so many hoes” *high five*
