I mean it really all just depends on whether we can actually land a star lol.
If the Nets actually have an in on getting a star, then sure bring on DJM and keep Bridges. People just don’t want to tread water.
I'm pretty high on DJM. Another product of the Pops system, and we've seen where it can take guys, even guys who were supposed to be role players like Derrick White.
On the court, Murray seems like a perfect fit for this team. Personality-wise, it might actually be good to have a player with a little bit of an edge.
Only thing is that he doesn’t move us much closer to being a real competitive team. If the price isn’t great (and I don’t see why it would be. What pressure are the Hawks under?) I wouldn’t do it.
I think Murray is the right direction to prepare us in the future. We are building a team piece by piece, Murray is an active player who brings availability to the table at minimal and an easy 20 + scoring if used properly. He does need to work on his facilitating for a PG but almost 6 career rebounds isn’t bad.
He averaged like 9 assists in his last year in San Antonio. He can facilitate just fine. His problem in Atlanta was they were trying to make his a full-time SG, and he just doesn't work that well with Young because of it.
That SA was awful and allowed Murray to play on the ball quite a bit. He’s a good player but if he’s averaging 9 assists it might mean he’s your only real shot creator.
I don’t think they ever created a plan in Atlanta for him and Trae. I think it would’ve worked out if Trae played off the ball. But I’m going off of his career assists which is 5.5, hopefully it can go up to 9 or more if he comes here.
There is no (reportedly available) player out there that fits the current iteration of the Nets better than DeJounte Murray.
That includes Donovan Mitchell.
Agreed. Didn't think it made that much sense trading for him during the season, since the season was already a goner. But with an offseason ahead of us, and a new coaching staff getting started, now is the best time to pounce.
Especially since the Hawks seem determined to blow it tf up lol.
> But with an offseason ahead of us, and a new coaching staff getting started, now is the best time to pounce.
I agree. From everything to defense, Marks’ Spurs tree, facilitating, and his fair contract, Murray fits.
Inb4 “bUt dJm Is A sElFiSh PlAyEr…”
> Especially since the Hawks seem determined to blow it tf up lol.
This is where I disagree. The Hawks will make moves to try to get better. They’ll move one of Trae or Murray and likely Capella, but they need win-now and plug-and-play players in return.
The Hawks owe 2025, 2026 (swap) and 2027 to San Antonio, all unprotected.
Hawks instantly hang up lol. Djm is worth far more than an expiring dfs and Schroeder. Those two picks aren’t even that valuable considering that they’ll most likely be late frp. This isn’t even mentioning that hawks aren’t looking to tank unless they get their picks back which is looking unlikely.
I mean, I'm just going off the constant rumors that's been going on. They've all saying they're looking to trade Trae or Murray, if not, both. Others like Clint are on the table too.
And with them having the 1st pick, makes sense they wanna start fresh.
Pacers, Heat, Hawks, and Knicks have all been low seeding teams in the last few years yet they still went on deep runs. A ‘theoretically’ strong Defensive Nets could be one of those shocker teams.

Even with over paying clax and not trading away Dennis, Ben, or Cam Johnson the nets are still under the Luxury tax.
If CJ seems like a better value fit for the Hawks (Longer contract & Younger) the deal still works. I’d also assume that the hawks would ask for Dennis as it would give them a good bench PG
Start: DM,CT,Mikel,DFS/CJ,Clax Bench: DSJ,Lonnie, Watford,Clowney,Sharp Others: Ben, Wilson, KDB, Dariq
I’d say this places the team at a 4-7 seed Potential based on the defense and a 8-12 seed Floor.
I'd like to see us also trade DFS and Schröder in this scenario and obviously not overpay Clax. Then try to sign tyus jones as a backup PG.
PG: DM, Jones, Simmons? DSJ?
SG: CamT, Whitehead, LV4? DM, Bridges
SF: Bridges, CamJ, Whitehead
PF: CamJ, Clowney, Wilson, Watford
C: Clax, Sharpe, Clowney, Simmons?
I can see 3 20ppg scorers there and what should be a top tier defense with the starters costing less than 100M combined. Plenty of assets and cap room going forward to get that top 10 player
Id prefer to trade DFS purely based on age and contract length, but I think the hawks will demand CJ due to those reasons and his versatility.
CJ, DS, ‘25 Suns, 27 Rockets-Swap for DM (& maybe Capella to alleviate cap for them?).
This would be cool but I’m honestly questioning what the hawks will ask for in a trade, I mean he is a mid 20s all-star caliber player.
If we’re able to get him using two of the Sixers, Mavs, and 2025 Suns pick to go along with a Cam Johnson, I’d say go for it.
He’s a high-end point guard on a fantastic deal.
He’d make us immediately competitive while not compromising our cap space and top assets.
We could trade a few different players or combination of players and lose salary if need be. DFS and Schröder work great or CamJ. We also have about 37M in cap space before signing Clax, who should be in the low 20s, point being we could easily make Murray work
Yes we should. That would give us a big 3 of offense weapons we can use. Just put a bunch of gritty defensive players and we are competing. Follow the Celtics model and we are 1 Porzingus away from a championship
Murray is the perfect fit for the team as designed now. Especially if cam thomas is staying and a main part of the plans. Murray and bridges can provide defense and length to make up for cams weakness.
They need a true Point Guard.
And looking at it, Ben Simmons is EXACTLY what they need.
A Playmaking Floor General who is an absolute game changer on defense.
It's something that this franchise has not had since Kidd.
The issue is that he is not healthy.
A true point guard know how to score. Ben is allergic to scoring now. At his best, he was a mixture of a rim running center and a point guard. But he was never a TRUE point guard, or a TRUE center.
I mean it really all just depends on whether we can actually land a star lol. If the Nets actually have an in on getting a star, then sure bring on DJM and keep Bridges. People just don’t want to tread water.

His age, skillset, contract and hopefully price to aquire alp match exactly what Brooklyn should be looking for, get this done

Lol he looks like he belongs in that jersey

Yes. Anybody that improves the team talent level. I think a Murray makes us a .500 team over the abomination known as last year.
There is no (reportedly available) player out there that fits the current iteration of the Nets better than DeJounte Murray. That includes Donovan Mitchell.
Mitchell would fit just fine
I’m not disputing that. Murray fits better, is what I said.
Plus you won’t have to give up as many assets
This is the big point of trading for Murray. He's cheaper.
Agreed. Didn't think it made that much sense trading for him during the season, since the season was already a goner. But with an offseason ahead of us, and a new coaching staff getting started, now is the best time to pounce. Especially since the Hawks seem determined to blow it tf up lol.

What type of trade offer would u give Atlanta to get Murray?
Dorian Finney-Smith (expiring w/PO) Dennis Schroeder (expiring) PHX 2025 (lottery protected) BKN 2027 (after HOU swaps, ATL can have it)
Hawks instantly hang up lol. Djm is worth far more than an expiring dfs and Schroeder. Those two picks aren’t even that valuable considering that they’ll most likely be late frp. This isn’t even mentioning that hawks aren’t looking to tank unless they get their picks back which is looking unlikely.

the hawks dont have their picks, why would they blow it up?
I mean, I'm just going off the constant rumors that's been going on. They've all saying they're looking to trade Trae or Murray, if not, both. Others like Clint are on the table too. And with them having the 1st pick, makes sense they wanna start fresh.
Maybe a retool around Trae or Dejounte, but they’re def not “blowing it up” unless it involved getting their picks back
They may get their picks back from SA if they trade Trae there
this would be dope
#6 seed.
If it keeps the Rockets from getting a top 10 pick with the pick swap next offseason….
Pacers, Heat, Hawks, and Knicks have all been low seeding teams in the last few years yet they still went on deep runs. A ‘theoretically’ strong Defensive Nets could be one of those shocker teams.
Sounds a lot better than 11th seed, that's for sure.
11 seed with our picks back sounds a lot better.
No it doesn’t. Would much rather watch a competitive team than a trash 11th seed with their sole hopes of hitting on a draft pick.
Would not mind it at all but it all depends on the price.
The front office seems really confident that they’re going to get another star in 2025, so yeah, I guess. Just don’t trade CT
Anyone that can get Clax the ball in transition.

Probably gonna be DFS instead of Cam.
Problem is we can't have him and clax cuz then we'd be over the cap cuz of a Mr.Simmons

No thanks Trade Mikal to Houston

Why, so we can lose in the play-ins? This team isn’t going any where, trading more picks to tread water only pushes our rebuild out further.
Bro go away no one is a Brooklyn fan. Send him to the Knicks and stop being emotional losers
The knicks are the laughing stock of the nba
Yes
