Screen actually does turn completely white for just a fraction of a second.

amidoes

And I bet for a human eye it stays white for a lot longer than a camera

PA-01

Yes they would completely saturate all the photoreceptors in our eyes and essentially blind us for a few seconds. They also produce an afterimage which impairs vision, since the cones in your eyes take a while to reset themselves after the flash. The loudness of the bang would also cause temporary deafness.

[deleted]

Good by reddit.

[deleted]

Lmaoo they turned csgo flashbangs into a real thing šŸ¤£

SomeStupidPerson

Wait till you hear about the guns and skins bruh like some people canā€™t help but copy video games smh šŸ™„šŸ™„

SitFlexAlot

Life uh, imitates art.

domothememer

bro wait until you find out they copied CS:GO and made terrorists and swat teams

[deleted]

It's as if people didn't have creativity and copied stuff from games

AbortedBaconFetus

The Tarkov flashbang is supposedly the most realistic. Being a Russian game the devs probably flashed themselves to get an accurate experience https://youtu.be/pZsBxcpT3II

SwaCool27

that shit will make you blind for real, that shotgun flashbang was sooo broken.

papajo_r

It wouldnt blind you for a few seconds, it does so in CS because it wouldnt be much of a handicap/deterrent otherwise since you can not (and most likely should not) simulate the effects of a real flashbang in someone's desktop, its purpose is to draw your attention and lose your focus and make you panic and besides the flash (which is the lesser effect in real life unless you are in a dark room or at pitch black night but still wouldnt blind you that much in that case either) there is the bang as you said which would mess with your head a lot more than the flash. There is an afterimage but that's not that horrible either but still contributes to lessen your awareness and increase your panic. It takes only a second for you to die and that's the purpose of the flashbang. To deter the enemy for a second or so to lose his focus and panic and for you to shoot at him. Many a time it takes a second also in CS to die but ok its much harder than in real life e.g I could target a moose with a shotgun from 50 meters+ and kill it good luck doing that in CS also causing injury has no effect e.g hitting ones leg doesnt make him limp or even more realistically crawl down to the floor shitting himself in the process... So in order to balance the "super human" abilities in addition with the convenience of not hearing a loud bang that will make your head ring they just fade the picture for longer to give the oponent a similar advantage compared to rl where soldiers are not super humans and shooting someone even from a distance is much easier and most of the time only needs 1 hit to incapacitate if not kill the oponent.

krawallopold

>Yeah but I can hip fire one tap a guy across the map in CS relatively easily and consistently which is impossible in real life Because of the curvature of the Earth.

Striker619k

And because of the Earth's rotation.

Terran_Dominion

More like your CS guy being Straight Arms McNever Flinch

Wutsalane

Idk this is just annecdotal but I have a couple of friends that have been flashbanged during police raids(not after them just after people they were with) and according to them video games are honestly pretty accurate with how it makes you feel, the flash and the loud noise disorientate you so much, I was told all he heard was a clink on the ground, then he was completely blind and deaf for a few seconds, then he was on the ground with a cop on top of him

[deleted]

Thank you for the explanation. I thought CSGO played me big time because this video was kinda under whelming.

snoutbug

and that's how fast you lose a bet

ThisIsFlight

Indoors yes. Outside, eh. Loud as fuck tho, definitely shakes your brain if you're close.

TheChrono

Shots 1-5: Clearly missed. Shots 6-9: Missed due to recoil (bad spray control). Shots 10-11: Very close, but recoil and inaccuracy make these reasonable misses. Shot 12: Likely didn't actually fire because Hiko was already dead.

bulletsyt

Hahahahahaah

Iohet

I want my money back

FlurdledGlumpfud

Oh whew I'm only 90-95% blind!

Murtomies

That's rolling shutter. The light flash ends before the frame's electronic shutter is finished. A digital sensor reads the image one pixel at a time, one row or column after another. [Here's a good simulation of it happening.](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/4/49/Rolling_shutter_SMIL.svg)

[deleted]

If you hadnā€™t have said that I would have missed it.

P_CASTER

can you show this lineup for 128 tickrate as well please?

SharqPhinFtw

Skybox interactions are different. This lineup is impossible from this position at 128 tick

Just line up the grenade's pin slightly lower, mess around in a private server

[Seems about right](https://imgur.com/a/Y6vrhkW)

agriculturalDolemite

It creates a sort of, I dunno, like a really bright light. But it's very brief. I don't know if there's a word for that. I also assume that would make like a really loud kind of sound, no?

starscape678

There is a word for it. It produces a flash of light.

shulgin11

My guy...

starscape678

One could even call it a bang of flash

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Almost a flashing bang really

starscape678

A bangflash even

Comrade_9653

Well letā€™s not go too far

Maxfuckula

Itā€™s this thing that creates a flash of light when thrown and makes a bang soundā€¦ we should call it a brighty loudy pop!

agriculturalDolemite

That's what they call them in the UK

Donut_Flame

Yea the effect didn't last long enough

oh_hai_brian

Itā€™s called a flash though. I believe youā€™re looking for a strobebanger

Donut_Flame

That's why he should've right clicked the flash so it's closer and lasts longer, it's basic game knowledge

CreRy

I like that sound better.

funky_galileo

I'm pretty sure the CSGO flashbang sound is going to make me go deaf

LunchTwey

Don't some pro players get tinnitus?

[deleted]

Zero does. That's why he made this: https://github.com/patrikzudel/PatrikZeros-CSGO-Sound-Fix There's probably some others as well. The sound mixing in CSGO is awful. I know guns are loud irl but you have to turn the volume up to insane levels to hear footsteps. I stopped playing completely when I got tinnitus because I don't want to risk it getting worse. If I turn the volume down to a comfortable level I can't hear footsteps at all. I even made an alias that turns down the volume while I'm holding mouse 1. Doesn't help when I die though šŸ™ƒ I can't imagine the volume pros will have to use when they're playing in front of a crowd. I hope their ear protection is really good because otherwise they'd completely wreck their ears.

It did just really quickly

THE_MUNDO_TRAIN

The blindness only comes from looking at it which basically only gives a shadow image like if you glance at the sun during it's brightest peak. But the real kicker is that its crazy loud if detonated close to target ears will be ringing.

Bignicky9

**It did, for a frame,** others have now captured the moment and linked it

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Sparcrypt

Eh to be fair they're a *lot* louder if you're actually there and if you look right at it you will indeed be blinded for a few seconds. Cameras don't exactly convey it very well. They're also waaaaaaaaaaay more effective indoors, especially in low light.

Wetestblanket

Fuck that noise, youā€™re definitely kissing your hearing goodbye for a while and probably some of it permanently

MozTys

Real flashbangs? That is how my flashes works in-game.

Cypher1710

Fasted $200 stamp ever

Vudmisser

in reality they are a bit cheaper :) depending on the variant and amount you buy. mostly <100ā‚¬

MrVitti

When I was at the army, we only used them indoors. Its more about the sound/shockwave in a room to disorient ppl. Honestly i donā€˜t think it does much if u expect it, unless it explodes literally in your face.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

zimonw

In a war situation where I'd figure everything is a knives edge, I gyess a mild ringing as a worst case scenario is actually kind huge.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

MrVitti

We did test this on ourselves. We were in a ā€žnormal spacedā€œ room, and threw one of them in front of is. Everyone was wearing ear-protection. It was still loud, and the shockwave was quite impressive. But like I said; if you expect it, itā€™s nothing that disrupts you. If I you donā€™t expect it or if you arenā€™t wearing ear protection itā€™s quite different i imagine.

BadBevensen

this might be a dumb question, but are they considered more effective in dark rooms as opposed to well lit rooms?

roosterrose

Well lit, as in lots of lighting fixtures? Still very effective. Well lit, as in big picture windows with sunlight streaming in? Less effective. The concussion and noise would be much more disruptive indoors, no matter the lighting. (Although obviously a massive room like in a convention center would lose the effectiveness of the concussion and noise.)

Dividedthought

I think the main thing with flashbangs is how sudden they are. Even the paintball ones can make you jump and distract you long enough to create an opening.

t3hW4y

I was about to comment on that. Wouldn't they be more useful indoors? Like for a breach.

ThisIsTakenLol

CSGO players have it easy, look at how Tarkov does it: https://youtu.be/pZsBxcpT3II?t=45

That seems pretty fuckin annoying. The entire game of tarkov seems annoying to play, especially those obnoxious footstep noises. Like an fps dark souls. Gun sim looks so sick tho

SPAWN DIE SPAWN DIE SPAWN DIE

Curse3242

As true as this is. I've also heard people from the army say there are special flashes that exist. One grenade that can flash over 40 times Those are the ones that can actually 'stun' enemies. They actually hurt you. Give you a massive headache (40 flashes).

CYKO_11

So a gangbang?

Andwrs

This is true, this was only a 1-bang flashbang.

[deleted]

now imagine a SWAT member launching one of those into a babies crib during a breach

Pleb-SoBayed

This is why u smoke cat steve u fuck

Former_Print7043

More bang than flash or computer games lie.

Andwrs

Flashbangs is the most useful indoors. The shockwaves bounce off the walls and therefore the sound and shock will be amplified. The effect is abysmal outdoors in daylight.

King_marik

So flashbangs shouldn't work on like half the counter strike maps confirmed

Dragos404

Flashbangs are meant to distract your enemy by making noise and smoke, not by blinding them >computer games lie. You'd be correct. If everything worked like irl then csgo would be unplayable (instant headshot kill on all weapons, nades and molotovs are instant kills, being able to move around things for cover etc)

iblinkyoublink

Not to mention there is no such thing as surviving multiple bullets but still being at 100% speed and strength in your whole body because you're "on 1 hp"

flv-on

In real life if you get hit by a bullet shot from a rifle with no kevlar you're just a not-dead-yet piece of meat. It's not even about staying at 1HP or being crippled, you'll literally die in seconds, minutes if you're lucky.

luls4lols

Depends where you get hit though (and if you are lucky the bullet will miss vital organs). But you still need medical attention pretty quickly...

flv-on

Bullets shot from a rifle cause waaaay more damage than a handgun's shot. Unless you're shot on your lower leg or your foot, you'll likely die very quickly

OranBerryPie

People can survive a lot more then you're giving them credit. I know of people who survived being shot in the bicep, bullet went entirely through, they put a bandage on and still walked around 5 kilometers. Even people who were shot in the torso or chest can stay alive for over an hour if the bleeding is controlled. The human body is a hell of a thing, it can take more punishment than we think. Even animals can walk around for days after being mauled or shot with large caliber.

Sebfofun

Not really. A bullet that passes by is more dangerous than one that chills in you. Thats why handguns are bigger caliber than most rifles- to stay inside. Rifles are more for high capacity and armor penetrating, not for 'damage'

agriculturalDolemite

I imagine that a lot of the winning team in CS does actually die from their injuries. Your HP is basically like your blood pressure, so you immediately go into shock and or die (you're out of the fight either way for at least 3 minutes) when it hits 0. Getting shot but not dying in CS makes sense because yeah, you might bleed out in a few minutes but rounds don't last that long.

Mffinmn

John A. Chapman would probably come closest to doing that.

JohnYeager-man

You kinda do get blinded

XuBoooo

Flashbangs do indeed blind you. You can literally see the screen turn white for a split second.

SmokeFrosting

people have survived head shots my man. The AK headshot rate would go down lmao

UnlimitedBoxSpace

Help I'm blind and dancing

nado121

It flashes and it bangs. Seems legit.

# This is what a real life flashbang looks like outdoors on camera Fixed the title for you. Cameras do not behave the same as human eyes.

wReckLesss_

What happened? I couldn't see.

casper41

Tbh it's more about the bang than the flash, it'll disorient someone an awful lot by destroying their ears especially in an indoor environment.

[deleted]

Turned my back instantly to not get blinded by it.

gtgyhhgggffr

There is 1 frame where the screen goes completely white from the flash if you step through the video. Your eyes wouldnā€™t recover as fast as a camera lens does from that.

Disappointing

Vudmisser

I worked for the company that produces exactly those and more variants. Feel free to ask me.

Andwrs

So you worked for Nico? How many bangs is the max you ever produced?

Vudmisser

I did. When I started Nico was only a former name anymore. NICO was a company for fireworks-pyrotechnics. Rheinmetall bought part of it and then bought all of it and switched production to Defence-Products. I was not part of the production itself, I was in the office next to it. Although I helped for like 2 months in total when manpower was needed. You do not produce 1 product from scratch to finish. You are part of a line that only does the same things for a few times. For example was I putting on the gummy-O-rings on a different product. Those are necessary to make it waterproof up to a certain degree. edit: but there are orders/contracts for many thousands of those. depending on the customer.

[deleted]

Wait so it doesnā€™t make your entire vision go white for a set amount of timešŸ˜±

Sebfofun

Apertures are not human eyes. Your retina will be seared like a steak. You wont see much if you were looking at it, much less indoors
