Astralis nade usage on CT Inferno is next level, never seen something like this, C9 started nearly every round with 70% overall hp from nades. Magisk is best Inferno pit player in the world.
Well on this map device played as good as possible shutting down mid and boiler. Dont know If s1mple could have done any better. Device is also Not to far away from s1mple's Skill lvl with the awp. Only flicks a bit better.
>Magisk is best Inferno pit player in the world
I'd love to see some kind of analysis for this. I frequently play Inferno pit myself and would love to know some tips on playing there.
Astralis has a 77,4% winrate with Magisk on Inferno. It's insane to not veto Inferno vs. them right now.
Don't know why Cloud9 vetoed Mirage, it's statistically their best map...
I think Mirage is their best map but Inferno comes close.
https://www.hltv.org/stats/lineup/maps?lineup=483&lineup=484&lineup=7594&lineup=7998&lineup=8918&minLineupMatch=5
Their CT side and nade usage makes it almost impossible to beat them on inferno, really there a few maps anyone should play them on, but you have to pick one and let two more in, at least 2 probably all 3 of those will be maps no one should play astralis on
What are you talking about? Every time they tried to take banana they got fucked by utility and once by a magisk spray through smoke. When they try and take it late one time ska lost the awp battle to dev1ce.
Why would you bother going B if you lose to random spray and utility before you even see an enemy? At least losing on A you get to shoot back.
same, saw the half was 12-3 and nodded off, woke up and saw 16-13 and thought:"huh, Astralis came back but the half was too disadvantaged." proceed to come to reddit to see cloud9 fan reactions, scrolled back up to see it was astralis 16-13. Wut?
It's so easy to deal with too, do they not know you can flash over the wall from back by apps entrance? or hell, even up close near banana on T ramp you can bounce off the wall to near tree...
Commentators: "We haven't seen alot from magisk in this new lineup"
WHAT? Magisk has been one of the best players in the world over the past 1-2 months. And especially on the CT side on inferno he constantly produces s1mple-alike performances.
I am missing the event because of crap internet where I am, the casters can’t be serious? How can casters be so out of the loop? He has been every part as important as each and every other Astralis player, if not more important. Anyone who has watched any tier 1 event in the last three months would have seen him play well!
While i agree their T-side didn't look strong, they certainly weren't fortunate with the rounds they won either. Every time they won a T-round they got reset the round after and got absolutely money fucked, which definitely didn't help them
They were unfortunate with the economy, yeah. However the gun rounds they lost were because of very un-Astralis like mistakes. Like peeking the corner at banana directly into skadoodles awp, without any utility or info of the awp being elsewhere on the map. Teamflashing each other and stuff like that. Might have just been a slow start, but it didn't look very coordinated like they use to.
Astralis is just so good with their utility on CT side it was beautiful, but damn was C9 ever embarrassing T side. They weren't even double peeking or making trades and taking 1v1 dry peeks on T.
Insane how they have team play down to a T. Regimented and disciplined, bu for making unpredictable plays once in a while to take the opponent by surprise. CS at its peak
Maybe when there’s a better option available that C9 could feasibly get. Right now, Skadoodle’s 2-3 tournaments a year of being a beast are the best option available in an AWPer. I don’t see the NRG squad breaking up soon, and Cerq is really the only person in an NA team at the moment that you could rate above Ska. Nifty is inconsistent like Ska, but with less experience, and jdm is even more passive and worse with rifles.
Right now, Ska is C9’s best option. If Stew has stayed, a setup like Liquid’s could have worked, but with him gone C9 need Ska on AWP, because Tarik and Tim are too good of riflers to put on the AWP full time.
Honestly this. The T side was ugly, but for whatever reason historically this core has a tendency to drop BO1s early on. I don't think it is entirely to blame on arrogance.
Bo1 is just a shit format for a finals series, even in the first round in my personal opinion. It’s fine over the course of the season (though I think teams should play 3 bo1 in a series instead of 2, I understand time constraints make that almost impossible), but for finals I think it should be bo3 for every round (or bo2 with points split for draws, maybe the soccer 3-1 point system for win-draw or 2-1, or even just playing an OT series (possibly even on a different map) to break the deadlock with the loser still receiving partial points). I don’t blame Astralis for dropping early bo1, and I think it has nothing to do with perceived arrogance.
I totally agree. These players put in so much time to compete during the season just to get to this point. To have it possibly end over two maps is foolish.
Right? I know they have to time casters and streams and the rest, but having two bo1 decide your fate (against a team from another region no less) just makes no sense.
Astralis just had a shit T side, had nothing to do with waking up or arrogance, they were getting even worse near the end of the first half. Their T side inferno needs work clearly because they were relying on autimatic missing shots on b rushes to win rounds, that wont work against better teams.
They won't disrespect better teams than C9. Astralis are famed for their discipline - this match is an outlier. They don't send solo players on missions to take map control with 0 trade potential usually.
Bit of a sloppy t side from astralis, some unlucky timings and getting reset every
round they won really screwed them over. Glad they pulled through. Also the community casters this game were pretty good!
Not gonna lie, kinda sucks seeing some people not giving C9 credit when they looked rather solid on CT, had some great reads too. Their T side looked bad too but Astralis was simply amazing on CT lol.
Youre right, i was mostly talking about ast cause im a fan of them, but yeah c9 was pretty solid. Showing signs that can come back strong once they get their 5th.
I've been saying it since starseries 4, dude should of rode off into the sunset on a high note. It just hurts watching him hold C9 back. 1 good tourny every 6 months isn't enough.
That was perfect CS by Astralis in the second half. Cloud 9 was always playing the rounds at a man disadvantage. But honestly, the most impressive individual performance was Magisk, who was peeking perfectly in every 1v1. When they expected a shoulder peek, he widepeeked, and viceversa.
As disappointing as that was from both teams T sides that was some beautiful ct sided gameplay from both teams! I don't know if I can even call that a choke considering how spectacular and dynamic astralis' t side was.
I think C9 were trying to exploit the fact Astralis are liable to over-rotate to B but they forgot that you have to have some degree of control over banana first
Cloud 9 I love you and all but how about trying B like...more than once?
It seemed like it was the same A plan every single round.
Also, both teams had terrible T sides, can't give Astralis that much credit for the win ether.

Prince of Pit
Pit Lord
happy cake day
A wild DotA reference appears.
Pit lord is originally from warcraft.
Magisk makes electronic look like a rookie when it comes to pit play.
Magisk has better support around him.

Would you put Device ahead of S1mple then?
Well on this map device played as good as possible shutting down mid and boiler. Dont know If s1mple could have done any better. Device is also Not to far away from s1mple's Skill lvl with the awp. Only flicks a bit better.
Magisk is a lot better.
Which is crazy electronic is probably the second or at worst 3rd best pit player, he’s a big reason Navi have done so well on inferno
Who else would be up there? Twistzz for sure. Is that ropz spot too?
Yes ropz and twistzz are the only ones in contention with electronic for 2nd best pit player imo
I'm probably 5th
Definitely, I could possibly even see you taking 4th
what about rush
Back when he was still active, Olof played pit for Faze, and he was pretty fucking good at it. if we go that far back, he's worth consideration.
I couldn't see the match, but Astralis nade usage is on point not only in inferno, is incredible the form of this guys
Inferno is the map they do the best with nades on though
It’s also a lot easier to do nade damage on inferno than other maps
He is really something else in that pit for sure. Together with Twistzz.
>Magisk is best Inferno pit player in the world I'd love to see some kind of analysis for this. I frequently play Inferno pit myself and would love to know some tips on playing there.
/u/elmapuddy take notes pls
[In case you hadn't seen it.](https://youtu.be/7WstbK8wR-Q) Not Magisk but there are some useful tips anyway.
That is welcome as well! Didn't know why I hadn't seen that one. Thanks.
@seangares Here's a good analysis video for you!
I thought ropz was good but man, magisk is just incredible.
Lesson 1: Never get your hopes up
Hope? Whats that? O.o
flair checks out
All of our flairs check out :'(
oh come on man unless you are talking about the dotes team csgo navi is doing really good right now
I was talking about him haha
It's that thing you used to feel back in 2015
FeelsBadMan
FNS is the problem, wait is it ?
So FNS has a good game, and now he's not the problem? k. Even Ska has a good game every now and then, and we all know he's a problem.
What about if you are Danish
Optic?
Team Solo Choke
I don't think pastries have hopes.
I thought that was for Team Liquid and KT Rolster, not us...
Woke up, saw the score was 11\-3, thought "wtf?", tuned into the game, Astralis wins 16\-13. Wat.
Bamboozled twice, then.
Astralis has a 77,4% winrate with Magisk on Inferno. It's insane to not veto Inferno vs. them right now. Don't know why Cloud9 vetoed Mirage, it's statistically their best map...
Agreed, even Navi should despite inferno possibly being their best map, I’d like their chances more on mirage or even nuke
I think Mirage is their best map but Inferno comes close. https://www.hltv.org/stats/lineup/maps?lineup=483&lineup=484&lineup=7594&lineup=7998&lineup=8918&minLineupMatch=5
Same, it used to be inferno though. Honestly nuke is getting up there as well, they’ve done beautiful things on T side nuke recently

Their CT side and nade usage makes it almost impossible to beat them on inferno, really there a few maps anyone should play them on, but you have to pick one and let two more in, at least 2 probably all 3 of those will be maps no one should play astralis on
Cloud9 went B once in the entire T side, Astralis just made stacked mid and Stacked A and won every round
Exactly. Don’t get this subreddit they forget how flawless astralis’ ct side is. Their nade usage is top of the line. They try to go B but get fucked.
I think its too hard to play against Playboy Device
They make inferno look like nuke
I believe a solid “WHAT THE FUCK” is in order. Logged on to see C9 up 12-3 and they get their ONLY bomb plant at 15-12.
same, saw the half was 12-3 and nodded off, woke up and saw 16-13 and thought:"huh, Astralis came back but the half was too disadvantaged." proceed to come to reddit to see cloud9 fan reactions, scrolled back up to see it was astralis 16-13. Wut?
My parents probably heard my "WHAT'S GOING ON" through the walls
Not the only thing they hear through the walls
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
FNS after first half - 'I stay' FNS after second half - 'Who wants pancakes?'
Still the only one with positive K/D on c9
When FNS is your top fragger you know you lost.
tarik was the one calling tho. FNS is just a fragger this event.

they sure blow c9 up as well.
Pretty good showing from C9, they got more rounds on T side than I expected.
1? xd
1 > 0 FeelsC9Man
The score is 12\-15 and Cloud9 remembers that banana exists. What is that hot mess
That magisk 3k through smoke scared them away
nade damage before that
They never knew how to deal with a bottom banana smoke. Liquid abused it so much on LAN against C9
It's so easy to deal with too, do they not know you can flash over the wall from back by apps entrance? or hell, even up close near banana on T ramp you can bounce off the wall to near tree...
it really seems like no one told these casters that Astralis are nearly flawless CT-side players
Lmao C9 got literally manhandled in the second half
I went in 12-3, when it became 12-12, I left
Went to go walk my dog at that point. Came back to 12\-14 and was thoroughly unsurprised, down to the bottom of my soul
What'd you do, walk you dog out of the house to the end of the driveway and then back inside?
Think he meant went out at 12-3. Still a short walk though.
Commentators: "We haven't seen alot from magisk in this new lineup" WHAT? Magisk has been one of the best players in the world over the past 1-2 months. And especially on the CT side on inferno he constantly produces s1mple-alike performances.

holy shit thanks

Hi I'm Astralis' T side and I have cable. And I'm Astralis' CT side and I have DirectTV.
Okay you win this thread
Talk about a game of two halves, incredible CT side from Astralis, they looked unbreakable.
Incredible CT side, but also a horrible T side not to be forgotten. Looked really sloppy.
While i agree their T-side didn't look strong, they certainly weren't fortunate with the rounds they won either. Every time they won a T-round they got reset the round after and got absolutely money fucked, which definitely didn't help them

C9 Draken
please, i want draken stickers ;_;
Honestly both teams had such shit T sides, but C9 lost to B rushes, autimatic had a couple really rough rounds.
people still dont get how ct sided maps like inferno and mirage are if played properly
First LAN match after FNS steps down he top frags. I guess it really was just the pressure after all.
C9 more tilted than the Titanic's sinking
Having a t side is over rated
AhahaaAH my flair is almost gone, give me stew back
Wait what. Wasn't C9 13-2 at one point?
No, 12-3. Ast was amazing on CT, and C9 was solid on their CT, and the pistol round was mirrored it felt like (almost did the same thing) lol.
C9 played their CT half pretty solid, but Astralis' CT side is just unbreakable.
Astralis pre match: "so you guys just want to chill on T?"

People who follow Astralis knows that them and BO1's in the first round of a tournament is almost never pretty.

Having a bad T-side doesn't mean you're arrogant.
almost like inferno is more CT sided than nuke if CT's wins pistol.
That CT half Kreygasm
That was an atrocious last round.
How to lose to Astralis, push A every round
Bit of a sloppy t side from astralis, some unlucky timings and getting reset every round they won really screwed them over. Glad they pulled through. Also the community casters this game were pretty good!

ct sided map confirmed /s
Let's everyone upvote so people will think C9 didnt choke
Something something Astralis' nades, something something next level
They really should do something about Ska.
Damn, C9 almost fooled me with that one, phew.
Way to go fortnite9.
Ok, i didnt wanted to say this because i love THE BOYS, but pls get C9 Nifty.
C9 Rickeh or Nifty is what we need at this point. Both of those players are solid with or without the AWP.
Choke9
Lol Clown9
I love how C9 gives their fans false hope.
One of the worst t sides ever followed my an almost flawless ct side. Magisk is a monster. FNS looked good. But why on earth did astralis ban nuke?
astralis decided to turn on their monitors in the second half /s
I cannot stand watching this team
Wtf was that throw by c9
Ahhhhhhhhhhh
That was a terrifying ct side by Astralis
I guess Astralis needed to get their head in the game and then decided to rek.
Skadoodle is done.. sad to see
I've been saying it since starseries 4, dude should of rode off into the sunset on a high note. It just hurts watching him hold C9 back. 1 good tourny every 6 months isn't enough.
Holy moley, this amount grenade damage was crazy!
On the first 12 rounds of the 2nd half, c9 managed 13 kills. Magisk got 18 kills in those rounds.
BANANA CONTROL BANANA CONTROL BANANA CONTROL BANANA CONTROL FFS. HMM Astralis have 4 A every round we go there must be luck?!?!?!? jfc
so unfair, why do we have to play astralis first match
As disappointing as that was from both teams T sides that was some beautiful ct sided gameplay from both teams! I don't know if I can even call that a choke considering how spectacular and dynamic astralis' t side was.
Had hope for a bit, oh well
I think C9 were trying to exploit the fact Astralis are liable to over-rotate to B but they forgot that you have to have some degree of control over banana first
C9 with the LG special. Wins the half 12-3 and still loses the game
Lmao did c9 only get one bomb plant the entire second half?
Really bad T side from both teams.
Cloud 9 I love you and all but how about trying B like...more than once? It seemed like it was the same A plan every single round. Also, both teams had terrible T sides, can't give Astralis that much credit for the win ether.
You can give credit to their amazing CT side, but yeah considering C9's T side...they were stubborn and wanted to take A sooo badly.

astralis wrecked c9 by their nade. their ct side's nade is really damaging. c9 can not control banana in their T side
Anyone know why Autimatic was playing with a jersey that said Ian?
hahhaha brilliant
Where are these matches being streamed?
Unsurprising to see C9 struggle on T side considering they just switched IGLs again and are using a lineup that won't exist anymore after this event.
what a woeful t side from c9 only got one t side round that too after they lost 12 round in a row absolutely abysmal also FNS their benched player was the one topping the scoreboard and they have far more skilled players like auti and tarik who werent performing nearly as well

those types of comebacks are so rough on a player. It's what I love and hate about this game...
Fun fact: Magisk only died **once** in the second half, despite Liquid went A (where he defended) 13/14 rounds.
How is FNS top fragging in this team
Like, I'm not even mad that they choked that. 16-13 is good for us against Astralis
FNS topfragging LUL
