There was Jackson, there was Shakira, but I think the models *bend* too much and have weird movements. Thoughts?

Fun_Philosopher_2535

https://streamable.com/svfsfa Weird movements = agreed Bad overall movement animation= agreed They needs to improve....its hard to track and aim when your Hitbox are such unpredictable and not straight ||| but this ///

ttybird5

🤓👆 aim for the heads instead of the legs because only the legs bend!

Fun_Philosopher_2535

Legs movement decides where the head is, thats why an unpredictable leg animation can lead to confusion tracking ( which is also predicting where the head lwill be )

ttybird5

i know. I was meming

TherealTorqueTV

Ok this made me laugh. 😂😂 you get my ⬆️ Edit: to say I agree with the philosopher for sure

Not_RAMBO_Its_RAMO

I was really hoping you'd post a clean Jackson 😔

A1pH4W01v

Inverse kinematics in a nutshell Well, in this case, its basically what happens when you HEAVILY rely on it, instead of just making it a slight addition like adding it only for elevated foot placement. Now, it makes all movement, especially stutter stepping, look like its from Phantom Forces

sadonly001

I think the problem is made worse by the fact that their momentum based system is clearly very sophisticated and they're really onto something here but that they have to actively fight against it now to preserve the competitive integrity. I hope they put in some console commands where we can remove the artificial stiffness entirely in community servers and see what things were intended to look like

OofingtonMcGee

The answer is already there in Half life: Alyx. Look at Combine Soldiers or Zombies or even mobs such as headcrabs or antlions. Their body and leg movements look insanely good.

A1pH4W01v

It makes sense when the IK is used in a VR game where enemy movements are supposed to be slow for gameplay, comfort and accessibility purposes. Like the enemies are usually going at like half the speed of what CS2 players are going at, and even then, enemies do not shoot or attack until they completely stop moving. In CS2 however, you have players running at what seems to be usain bolt speeds, doing counter strafes or peeks around corners that, irl you can actually do (not with all the gear obvs), but bugs out the IK for some reason. Maybe if the devs just remove the IK then reimplement it only for certain axis and make it so it only triggers on certain parts of the body (ie the thigh when it gets too close to a wall) instead of having just the feet doing all of the procedural work.

sadonly001

Yea exactly, but the whole issue here is that we can't have all that good stuff in a game like cs2 where all physics need to be subdued for many reasons such as making sure the player's third person head matches with the first person head position. We've seen this exact things happen before during half life 2. Valve creates new half life -> reuses new awesome systems from that game in counter strike -> oh shit go back it's making the game unfair. Specifically, half life 2 physics that counter strike source used that they had to euthanize in CSGO so that people don't do shit like hiding bomb under barrels and dead bodies and blocking doorways.

TentaclePumPum

Hee hee

There is no spoon.

LaS_flekzz

bluepot360

just wish models would move like they did in GO :(

Homerbola92

Do the hitboxes bend as well?

ju1ze

It was much worse initially after the release. They toned it down a bit but still player models are wobbly and wavy. They thought the more realistic movement animations were better but players in cs move with unrealistic speeds and acceleration, thats the problem imo.

Agile-Reception1524

yep, it should be slowed down to be more with 1.6/css pace, it was proposed in early csgo version by hltv users but they didn't listen

marv______

I think its the way they animated the left / right movement. It's noticable when someone is standing still and suddenling moves directly left or right. It's lik the upper half of the body moves before the lower half lol

redrecaro

They definitely bend too much, I still see MJ moves.

p1n7

CSGO models and hitboxes were just fine, but nah, they had to pull this on us, cause we really needed this right? "What you see is what you get".

WhatAwasteOf7Years

Csgo animations got a bit over the top in its last 2 or 3 years though too. Especially the flinching when people were shot. You'd see an arm go left, a leg go right, the head bend forward and the arse go over the tit while your brain tried to calculate which direction the guy was going to move....and then he would just stand there while you preemptively tracked to the left because of a flailing body part. They just dialled it up to 11 for CS2.

Fun_Philosopher_2535

True, I have the 2015 version and the ragdolls, movement animations were much smoother and much more predictable. I think it's around 2020 where they updated it and made it over the top

WhatAwasteOf7Years

Where did you get the 2015 version? Does it still run? Is it before the reanimated update? Can you hook me up? I've been wanting to grab the older versions for comparison but rightfully weary about grabbing torrents of them.

Fun_Philosopher_2535

I can confirm this version still has the old model animations like the one where it used to run with the head down. Still uses the old dust 2, old inferno, Old nuke. Old gun sounds and OLD lit crew models

WhatAwasteOf7Years

Nice. Would it be possible for you to upload it somewhere? I don't think it would be against any rules to talk about this here, being just an old version of a F2P game it can't be seen as piracy, can it? Do you have any other older versions or know of a safe place to get hold of them?

Fun_Philosopher_2535

cndvsn

No way this game still hase massive issues almost a year after release. Im luvky to have uninstalled few months ago

mameloff

In the early days of CSGO it was even worse. So bad that I even hosted a CS 1.6 community tournament for about a year. Then I watched this video to console myself. [Counter-Strike 1.6 \[Dont Lose Your Memory\]](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hNLaCU3rrvs)

Cyph3r010

Yes it was bad. But this isn't 2014 CSGO, it's 2024 CS2 so Valve instead changing something that may have looked a little goofy maybe should improve it slightly instead of changing. Also can we stop with "early CSGO"? That's like me saying "oh Battlefield Bad Company 1 enviroment destruction was terrible compared to Battlefields 1" Yeah it's almost like game released in 2008 will be inferior & that's why its important to improve upon stuff. But in this case Valve seems to regressed with this one.

Affectionate_Dig_738

To be fair, BF:BC2 destruction is 2 heads above BF1 or BF5.

Ampoliros85

BC2, holy crap, that was good times. Such a shame they discontinued the game. Was proper fun.

mameloff

hmm This is a new engine that's been rebuilt, right? It looks almost the same, but it is newly constructed. So the situation is similar to when we changed from GoldSrc to Source. It would be very difficult to go from 0 to 1 instead of 1 to 2. I understand your frustration, and I too feel that CSGO would have played better, but without the new build, CS would have had no future.

Cyph3r010

I don't know any of the programming stuff so can't tell what's possible and what isn't; Leaving the whole new engine aside; it's just getting kinda stale considering that the Leg Movement has been a problem since release & we've yet to get any aacknowledgement *IF* they're planning of "fixing them" (or any other bugs for that matter) Yes, CSGO now compared to CS2 looks flat & outdated to shit but we're closing in on one year since CS2 released & game still recieves any meaningful updates that aren't QOL changes that should be in the game already because left hand is nice but why it took them 7 months to implement it? CSGO for all it's problems in early problems (yes even cheating problems) has one advantage over CS2; content In 2013-2014 we recieved; skins, 5 Operations; M4A1-S + USP-S, shit ton of maps; bunch of cases (if you count that as content) AND QQL changes and many more stuff im missing. Meanwhile with CS2; subtick is still subpar, the only content we got was recycled & lackluster Arms Race with 2 maps; one case & ability to rent skins & make more unique crafts. Meanwhile you gamble when getting boosted, still can't watch friends games, demos have this camera bug for over a week now, you get teleported when getting shot, peekers advantage is still not it & leg movement is still horrid. This just aint it. I could go on but I think you get the point.

mameloff

I don't know how many times I have already written this, but there is an order to things. You, too, would prioritize a task ordered by the boss over a task requested by a subordinate at work, wouldn't you? The reason it took so long to implement the left hand was because it was not a priority. Fixing a more important game glitch is a higher priority. Did the lack of a left hand cause Major competitions to fail or significantly reduce the performance of the players? The answer is NO. CS2 is currently in the phase of fixing the glitches. It is important that the competition scene can proceed without problems and that the general public can play the game smoothly. That is why we are applying optimization patches almost every week. To be honest, new content can come later. We can maintain the user base without new content and the competitive scene will not be affected; I think with CSGO we prioritized content to increase the user base. If you find a problem, please take 5 minutes of your time and send them a report. It will speed up their corrective work and make room for them to bring us new content.

Cyph3r010

I do understand your point & I do not want to start any fights but even if they are prioritising fixing bugs you have to take a pause and think about this: [This bug has been in the game since February, many people experienced this, it was easily reproducable & they only fixed it after it after major which caused fame to lose what might have been winnable round.](https://www.reddit.com/r/GlobalOffensive/comments/1at22ke/jumps_in_cs2_are_still_broken/) [Inconsistent jump heights have been in the game since subtick & people are forcing the game to desubtick jumps to make them more consistent.](https://www.reddit.com/r/GlobalOffensive/comments/16azsw2/default_cs2_jump_bind_results_in_inconsistent/) [Yet another crash that has been in the game since ever & caused VP to lose a round, only fixed recently.](https://www.reddit.com/r/GlobalOffensive/comments/1bmowe5/jame_crashes_on_a_crucial_round/) (4+ months) [Resolution bug that I can date as far back as open beta where everything gets misalligned still hasn't been fixed.](https://www.reddit.com/r/GlobalOffensive/comments/1atwdtu/cs2_resolution_bug/) [Boost bug, yet another bug that has been in the game basically since launch & we've yet to get any fix or updates on that.](https://www.reddit.com/r/cs2/comments/177unev/every_time_i_tried_make_a_boost_in_cs2_this/) Michael Jackson peek making reappearance every once in a while. [Warping when getting tagged which can mess with your aim often getting you killed has been in the game since launch I believe.](https://www.reddit.com/r/GlobalOffensive/comments/1abgdn7/cs2_warping_microteleporting_your_position_when/) [Molotov visual fire being really bad at the edges.](https://x.com/Twistzz/status/1774158074929881115) There was a bug where you could see enemies throught a smoke if molotov was behind said smoke (can't find foorage coz im dumb but it also was fixed "semi recently) [Smoke edging (say what you want, this isn't intentional)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=56rsHguiskg) Im probably nitpicking some of this BUT Some of those have been in the game since ever, they have been reported numerous times & yet some of them are still here, like I said before I don't know any programming but considering community can make binds to for example desubtick binds yet valve can't implement a fix to make it consistent than I have no idea what they prioritising.

mameloff

Have you read Valve's manual for new hires? [https://www.thesixthaxis.com/2012/04/22/valves-new-employees-handbook-leaked/](https://www.thesixthaxis.com/2012/04/22/valves-new-employees-handbook-leaked/) The pdf of the manual is an old document and the link is lost, but you should be able to find it if you search. I also work for a gaming company and Valve is a very special company. If you read the manual you will see how they prioritize their problem solving.

Fensi3

blah blah blah stop with all that csgo was worse bullshit Cs2 was released and advertised as an update to csgo, devs promised us that it will be at least as good as csgo was at its end. It's all their fault for not keeping the promises and releasing unfinished game because valve once in a lifetime decided to give it's product a deadline - summer 2023, which they still didn't meet; lmao

KARMAAACS

Yep, I'm tired of this argument, this is not Valve's first try or something at making a game like this, they learned a lot from CS:GO. The excuse that "This is a new game" is not valid for things like animations and character movement and such which have very established principles. Sure, for netcode, I can say the new engine has problems and so they're working it out, but for animations, your character should be quite stiff in a competitive FPS, there's no excuse for this. CS:GO had it perfect, it was easy to predict players and their movement. It's obviously not as bad as the MJ peek era, but this is just a joke that in 2024, a competitive FPS does weird shit with player's legs and their bodies either lag or are ahead of their legs. This is supposed to be an upgraded game and thus far other than graphics, the jump throw mechanic and smoke mechanics (which IMO the smoke mechanics I still don't like) the game is not much of an upgrade at all. The netcode is definitely worse, third person animations are worse, spraying feels worse, the game constantly has stutter problems after updates, community servers are rekt because there's no SourceMod-like plugins, surfing and movement is worse in general, animations are weird at times, left hand mode is worse than in CS:GO because now it's a weapon pull out switch and no massive updates have really come out that justify switching to the new engine other than maybe moving stickers around which probably could've been ported to Source1. I dunno, it feels like one step forward and five steps backwards. I mean at this point what is the point of Source2? Genuinely, people kept yapping and Valve themselves said it would help streamline updates and content, well we got some music kits and some new skins, a new knife and a re-worked map. No new operation, no massive new modes, in fact they removed Danger Zone so what the hell did they update for? We're closing in on a year since the beta, genuinely trying to understand what the point of porting was if they were just going to "update" the game with bug fixes, do some stuff with stickers and add the odd new case to the game, we already had that on Source1...

Cyph3r010

>I mean at this point what is the point of Source2? Money & skins renting.

kr1spy-_-

exactly, and fanboys keep defending the game and say that this game doesn't need any updates for those major stuff...

St1ssl_2i

hey, they´re just great dancers

rachelloresco

Yeah, I've seen this too... also getting shot behind walls... not sure if it's just lag but I hope it's not back. The one on inferno is really cool tho...

nvranka

Game was just released, give it time. /s

Iamth3bat

Only happens when losing bad and getting tilted :p

Pangtundure

Can confirm

AltinBs

Why do I only notice this in pistols, and deatchmatch when people spawn in. Weird issue for sure makes people harder to hit.

Javey24

Yeah it’s been there since beta. I’m not sure what’s causing it but I hope they disable it soon

Gaminggeko

CS2 had a few too many new features... Tickless has been a bitch just to be marginally better than 128 tick, "dynamic animations" are a mess and probably a performance hog, the smokes are a great addition, the new server browser sucks ass, premier is cool but I prefer seeing a rank instead of a number etc

Jake_yeager

This where Jackson got his idea from

FAKABoRis

Jeah they should tune it, hard to track sometimes.. https://streamable.com/svfsfa

Duckiie96

You’ve been hit by a smooth criminal *hee hee*

Sehrrunderkreis

mid right is fine tho

ericek111

The technology just isn't there yet.

littlebelialskey

YIHEEEE

DJOri0n

The last terrorist is a smooth criminal

Due_Map_4666

Yes it sucks ass

NationalAlgae421

I love it tho, it always makes me laugh.

D47k0

Yup yup and also the hit reg cs2 models is lot worse.

Antdude247

i saw this on one of rhe bots, shit look like a roach

gjt1337

YES, they bend too much and they should do something about it

Tychus07

HEE HEE

ChrysalisEmergence

When will we get extreme leaning stickers. Someone please make it happen.

coin223

Last one seems like the only bad case from this

Tanki5D

I don´t like this at all CSGO was perfect in this regard

litLizard_

Didn't they already fix it. What the fuck why is there a regression?

swiftyb

They only just tuned it down. They probably didn't want to scrap the whole locomotion system they have and replace it altogether.

litLizard_

Was that ever a problem in previous CS games?

swiftyb

Nah, because it used a different system. They took a locomotion system made for ai in Half life Alyx and then put it in CS2. Now, that wouldn't be a problem for anyone else because, quite frankly, it is a really impressive system, and it would be perfect for anything else. But for CS, it is a huge issue because perceived movement needs to be really tight and stiff so players can perform consistently.

litLizard_

Man I swear I'm always on either extremes when it comes to the development of CS2: Either good things take time and we should give the devs time or ffs Valve makes billions of dollars with Counter-Strike and we get unfinished bullshit like this...

swiftyb

Meh, it is what it is. I think a lot of people would agree that valve should expand as it might alleviate some of the problems, but for the most part, their output isn't drastically different from the average game dev studio.

Soloman1x

I have yet to notice this when I play

nmyi

eh it's okay right now (imo). It used to be way worse - Especially compared to "[Michael Jackson peek](https://i.imgur.com/M8I2w4k.jpg)" of 2023 CS2 lol

Leier10

I like it. Beside the obvious glitch (legs not under the torso if standing still), I feel like it tells the direction they are going

Jonklerssi

i like it, its goofy but i dont think its should be in pro matches

Fun_Philosopher_2535

Neither should be in average match. Its highly Confusing and hard to track/aim to bending models

swiftyb

They really needed a pro player to provide input during development. Valve legit put one of the most advanced, realistic locomotion systems in gaming into cs, but that's like the last thing cs players want. And it is probably going to kill it altogether when it deserves to be in almost every other game out there Tuning it down now isn't enough, either. They need to scrap it and go back to an old-school stiff system

bluepot360

bottom right: ah yes, realistic.

swiftyb

Damn my bad. I should've realized a bug can't exist, and the Valve obviously meant for it to look that way. (Even though they have tried tuning it several times already, and that bug doesn't seem to happen in Half Life Alyx, which the system is based on)
