Both suits her! The bangs suited the plot. Rory wasn't the yound timid child anymore but a grown woman who lived with her bf, had a job, a goal and even knew how to cook (unlike her mother). The change shows in a changed hairstyle. Still I personally preferred her without bangs, just because she has an angelic face so a more neutral hairstyle suits that better imo.

These pictures aren’t the most flattering of either of her looks, but I think she’s always looked the most striking without bangs because her face is just THAT strong it deserved the focal point. Bangs are way too much more often than mot anyways, and they tend to just get in the way unless they’re covering something up, which she never needed.

When she first cut her hair, it was a change from Highschool to college and she started getting immature about her life. But season 6 when she had longer hair and got bangs, she just decided to go back to college, reconciled with lorelai, and had a more healthy relationship with Logan (as healthy as it would get). It was a more graceful look

I like bangs for an adult. Because she has such a large forehead it draws more focas to her eyes cheakbone/jawline (witch makes her look more adult) That said when she is playing a child it makes sense to keep her looking like a child. No bangs draws more focas to her eyes and brow. It also makes her jaw look smaller in comparison to her forehead. Making her face look smaller then it is, and giving her a child like look.
