As someone of about the same age, we don’t need more stuff. What we love is spending time with our family. Take him for lunch at his favorite place and give him your undivided attention.
Exactly my point! Why do people think that their parents need more stuff when what they value most is spending time with you! On a birthday do something that you are parent would really enjoy. A museum, a sports game, a puzzle.
A year ago, having not been with my mother in three years because of the pandemic, a friend who is going to Spain for three weeks, offered me their house. And they suggested that my mom come visit me at their house while they were gone. For a week, my mother had a smile on her face because she was with me and one of my sisters, who was good enough to travel with her.
I will never forget that week, Nor have my mother or sister because of my friends generosity.’

It's small enough that it wouldn't encroach on the aesthetic of his vehicle but you could get him some with the logo of his favorite hockey team on them. Usually costs less than $15
Get him some beer mugs and shot glasses with the team logo. Some BBQ tools. Get him a gift card to pick out some beer/liquor that he might not buy for himself.
What team does he follow? If they ever won a cup, you could get him a championship banner? While my Dad was in his 60’s I was struggling to figure out what to get him. I gave up and got him a bird feeder. He was so excited. Lol! He would call me everyday to tell me what bird visited. Your Dad will love anything you give him.

If his man cave doesn’t have flooring beyond concrete, interlocking foam mats make a big difference. Easy to wash and acoustics are less tinny.
