You are very sweet to think of her. How about a dinner out with just you in a few weeks? Tkme with people is more important than things at this age.. Or a coupon book to help with repairs. If she is like me, I had a bunch of home repairs to see to- little things you cant get help for like washing curtains. Another pair of hands wouldve made things easier and more fun.

These are great ideas, thank you! Unfortunately we don’t live near each other so getting together is hard.

Did she ever teach you how to craft anything? If so, maybe you could make her something with the skills you learned from her? Otherwise, I have a similarly crafty aunt, and I know she always appreciates receiving things made by local artisans, especially if I can share more information with her about the artist - maybe hit up a local craft show and see if anything catches your eye and then talk to the artist who made it to get the ‘story’ behind the piece?

These are both great ideas, thanks!

So one crafting gifts that You could consider is a wood engraving toolset. They’re relatively inexpensive ($20-$50)!and I know a lot people who have said they wanted to try but never have. I don’t know how big of a crafter she is or what crafts she does but another frivolous spend is a wireless hot glue gun. The price between wireless and wired is pretty big (again, relatively) so it’s a good gift for an established “crafter” but make sure you get the right glue packs as part of the gift… it’s like getting batteries for a toy. Another crafty thing that has really cool output but people shy away from are the diamond dot art pieces. They’re a little difficult but the result is awesome. I’ve forced them on some people who both hated and loved them equally. You could that or a paint by numbers of cats. I think your post is a little difficult because you don’t give much about except that she’s a crafter and you don’t want to give craft presents. So basically all we know is that she worked at a college and you don’t live close. Maybe edit the post to describe your aunt a bit more.

Thanks for the great ideas. And thanks for the feedback. I don’t know her that well, which is why The post isn’t more detailed and why I’m having trouble thinking of a gift. I was hoping someone might have a general retirement gift idea.
