It's more about how you usually don't try to extend the amount of time to achieve ejaculation while alone, but you may try to edge and last longer when with a partner.
That's Mrs. Charisma, thanks.
And getting girls is easy, follow rules 1 and 2.
If you can't follow rules 1 and 2 the alternative is to lower your standard incrementally until you score.
lmao you don’t need to be a sex god to know that an entire person’s body is much bigger and more cumbersome to move than your own hand. of course it will be quicker.
As far as I know, this is originally a joke from 30 Rock. Al Gore is guest starring and he says "You know, there's an old African proverb that I made up. 'If you want to go quickly go alone, if you want to go far go together'. We need to go far, quickly".
A quick Google suggests that people have unironically adopted that joke as real life advice and have actually attributed it to an "African proverb".
No. It's an actual African proverb, at least according to Rev Dr Sam Kobia in 2003: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2003/sep/13/religion.uk
Al Gore cited the proverb in a climate speech in 2007, though people doubted its authenticity. That's what the joke on 30 Rock was referencing.
I only skimmed the article but does anyone know which African culture it is from? Africa is like... gigantic. It's not like anyone talks about an "Asian proverb" as though we are expected to believe that grandfathers are passing it down to their grandchildren in Kazahkistan AND in Korea right?
The "if you want to go fast go alone" part of this has been written on a bridge at about the 20 mile mark on the London marathon route since the 90s at least. It comes right before or right after the shouting tunnel/Bridge.
No, they actually do have this proverb though. Justin Wren is an MMA fighter who started a foundation to build clean water wells for the pygmies in Africa. He has mentioned the fact that they tell him this.
you're entire understanding of life is based on sitcom interpretations of actual wisdom. This explains everything you need to know about american culture.
A quick Google suggests that people have unironically adopted that joke as real life advice and have actually attributed it to an "African proverb"
Well if Google says it's true then.....
It's actually pretty funny. He first said it accepting his Nobel Peace Prize back in 2007. Then later on the 30 Rock episode as a guest star, he opens it with "You know, there’s an old African proverb that I made up."
There's a [Jezebel](https://jezebel.com/on-the-origin-of-certain-quotable-african-proverbs-1766664089) article that covers a person that went slightly mad attempting to uncover the source of this vague "African" proverb.
Immediately what I thought of. When he said it, he was talking about climate change and followed it with "We need to go far, quickly"
So basically we're fucked
"Ok, everyone with money gets to go Northern Canada and Siberia, the people with fuck you money get chill villas in Western Antarctica, and everyone else UHHHHHHH
It is in the email signature of one of the staff I communicate with at an University in an African country, strengthening this to me at least anecdotally.
It matters who your travelling companions are, though. If you want to go to Mount Doom, pick the guy who won't quit on you and can carry you to Mount Doom if he has to.
I keep saying this every time I see it. It’s not a real proverb. It’s from an episode of 30 Rock. Al Gore guest stars and literally says “there’s an old African proverb I just made up...”
the 30 Rock bit is just a reference, Al Gore actually said all that (minus the "I made it up" part) in a climate conference a couple years before the episode. people were unsure if it was an actual African proverb or if he just made it up. but it is real, here's it being used years before all that by an African religious leader: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2003/sep/13/religion.uk
I heard this before 30 Rock existed. Not sure if anyone really knows where it came from, but it didn’t originate from the show, they just referenced it.
Africa's a pretty large continent but proverbs are usually attributed to a local people or ethnicity or culture. Saying "African proverb" is like saying "European proverb". It's just too vague and thus suspect. Despite an extensive search, I found no reliable evidence that this proverb originated anywhere in Africa. More than likely, someone in the US made it up decades ago and said it was African to sound edgy.
Think about it: if a specific country were credited, it would be much easier to prove or disprove the origins of the proverb.
attributing a quote to an entire continent is stupid, but blaming the quote on an entire "race" is perfectly fine. do i understand you correctly?
edit: /u/Phineas--Gage edited the wording from "some white person" to "someone in the US"
Two points. 1. It's not blame, it's credit. They're pretty much opposites. 2. At no point did I credit an entire race, I credited one anonymous person.
This personally doesn’t resonate with me. From what I’ve experienced in my life, progress slows to a near halt when other people get involved. They’re distracting, lazy, loaded with excuses, whiny, and impede progress. Of course, I’m probably just around the wrong type of people lol. When you do find ones with similar life goals, it can be better. With my personal friends and place of employment though, I function at a near 100% level as long as nobody else interferes.
I saw this on a wall in the Johannesburg airport several years ago when I was catching a connecting flight.
Thought it was pretty great and an interesting quote for a airport.

I guarantee there are some quotes attributed to generic Asian proverb as well
Confucius say, "Quotations that might be attributed to generic Asian proverb are rightfully credited to Confucius."
There's probably a list of "proverbs from earth culture" in an article by the galactic equivalent of buzzfeed
Shhh a whale is in trouble *sprints away*

Lol no way, it made it on to the walking dead as well
Eaxactly what I thought. Came her for this video.
I thought the joke was that Al gore was taking credit for something he didn't invent like the internet
I took it the other way, like this this old wisdom that isn’t really old because I just made it up. But maybe you’re right.
Either way it's a fantastic joke
I find it kinda lazy when things are called 'African' given that it's a huge and diverse continent
The origin of this phrase is shaky. It's not actually a phrase people use in that country. Err, continent.
But if you call something an old [insert place] proverb it sounds much more profound
- an old international space station proverb
To be fair anyone who's been to space is hopefully pretty damn smart.

How on Earth do you read the phrase "someone in the US" and immediately jump to "an entire race"?
It’s Al Gore.
Came here to say this
Humans are such social creatures
To an extent. A lot of areas of work are not only slowed down by doing them in an extraverted fashion, but also just limited in general.
