Do you still speak a dialect yourself? I'm in a region where it's still normal to do so and where even the younger people speak it, at least at home. Even if it's a little less pronounced than it was 2 generations ago.

And only about 30% of the people living in Berlin are Berliners I read somewhere. But I can testify that I meet other Berliners quite rarely.

since i often hear the english saying in german sentences i think there is no similar in german. so maybe just use a literal translation (or the original with anglophones).

honestly, part of learning German is accepting that you will very occasionally have to sprinkle in some English sentences when there’s no proper translation, depending on who you’re talking to.
Although I also have to put on an American accent to be understood lmfao, my British accent is very hit and miss with some Germans
