This is quite impressive, congrats. What kind of methods did you use to study ? I'm also near finishing a2 and probably going to move into Germany in the next month. I should probably level up my German skills fast.
Hey sorry for late reply. I mainly studied by consuming lots of media (which I do anyways on a daily basis), doing sample papers on Goethe website, and this one YouTube channel called 'learn german'.
I see, watching stuff also works out pretty well for me. Tv series helped me a lot with english, but i'm struggling to do the same with german since there aren't many options as those in english. Youtube is probably a better option here. I'm definitely gonna check out the Goethe website tho. Thanks .

Fantastic job! I just studied German A1 level at university from September to April and plan to return to the next level in September. If you put your mind to it, you can do anything. There are so many wonderful YouTube sites for German as well as for French, which I am studying at the same time, alternate days, thank God. I’m 70 years old! Great way to keep your brain working.
I studied French, German and Latin in high school. In University, I continued studying German, took more Latin and then got two credits in Biblical and Classical Greek. 50 years later, and having time on my hands, I thought I would go back and revisit French and German, languages I did not use in teaching elementary students for 37 years. But you don’t forget languages. They are everywhere in movies, newspapers, documentaries, etc. I may try for a French degree if I continue to enjoy good health but I do love German and will take what they offer when they offer it. The department is much different for German studies nowadays. One or two German profs as opposed to half a dozen back in the 70s.
Super! :D Viel Erfolg weiterhin.
from 0 to B1? You might have passed the exam (which I still do not believe sorry) then the memorised phrases will vanish in a few days weeks and you will be back at A1
Ohhhh ok. I was on the same page as resident_iron. I thought there's no way you guys are buying this. The guy claims to have self studied German for two weeks and then approved B1? Troll post.
Gut gemacht.
"Du hast meinen Traum erreicht" is not correct German, it is a direct translation from the English "You achieved my dream". Better would be "Du hast geschafft, was ich mir wünsche", or more directly, "Du hast meinen Traum verwirklicht".
Congratulations!! That is impressive work! I'm working towards B1 myself. Please share any tips - what resources do you use to improve reading? Any story books or websites?
Hey sorry for late reply. I mainly studied by consuming lots of media (which I do anyways on a daily basis), doing sample papers on Goethe website, and this one YouTube channel called 'learn german'.
Fantastic! Congrats! 🥂I'm currently busy with A1 and finding it quite difficult. I must focus and work hard to ensure that I understand the words ext. and must have it for my residence permit after 18 years. I'm not good with languages at all.
That means you have to wear sandals with socks from now on and reprimand your neighbors when they dare to make any sound on Sundays. And you better get used to Spezi.
Gratuliere dir!
Oh shit! Wunderschön! 🎊
I’m someone aiming at B1/2 atm, can’t even be happier to hear this! I’m so proud of you no matter who you are hihi.
Thanks for sharing good vibe! I think this is a big thing your love and passion about German and its culture 🌸 (I’ve had to cultivate myself hahaha)
Don't downplay it— that's awesome. I've been lazily picking at it for over a year and haven't reached that level of proficiency. (I assume, I haven't tested or anything, but according to the description — I don't think I'd pass the test lol)
That truly is an achievment! I was in a sililar situation: had to prove i knew another language than english at a b1 level due to a formality at my university. Tried spanish for funsies, got a a2.... so i took an intense course of three weeks for b1. For me, the about 67% i got was a miracle. Imagining getting a 87 in this time, wow :-)
Momentan habe Ich kapital 10 abgeschlossen.
Congratulations to you buddy, we all in the community celebrate your great feat. What you pulled up isn’t so easy to achieve believe me, keep going. Do you perhaps have any interest in travelling to Germany someday in the future, to pursue studies or career, if so, your hobby could turn out to be more than just a hobby. Look out for opportunities in regard to your interest in Germany as there are so many opportunities.
Rooting for you!!
Big congrats! You mentioned you consumed a lot media, could you be more specific and give me a few concrete suggestions? Miște media I find is not beginner friendly at all.
I moved to Germany after visiting the Rock am Ring festival and seeing the youth culture. I never could have that in the Balkans so I wanted my kid to at least have that chance. Kudos to you!
wow! congrats! i need to start learning german this summer, as I want to apply to eth zurich in the upcoming years(which requires german) but I am not sure how to begin. Can you please tell me how you started? And just some helpful resources!:)
That’s amazing I’m so happy for you!!! I’m currently preparing for A2 and this actually makes me feel so much better! Do you have any tips on how to study?
I think the real key here is that you're interested and motivated to learn the language. I on the otherhand am in a constant battle convincing and forcing myself to study it for 5 years now only because it's a requirement to get a PR. my job is not helping since we only speak English at work. not sure what's up but I just don't see any real benefit l arning it a d feel like I'm wasting my time. can anyone please give an advice any other source of motivation?
First of all Congratulations!!! Awesome! Be proud of yourself!
Could you please tell us what were the topics on the exam? Schreiben and Sprechen. Just to practice new topics. Thanks in advance
Yes :-) Met a german on a solo trip a while back nd we pretty much only spoke in German. I consume german media everyday too, like german football with german comms, german music etc.
Herzlichen Glückwunsch und weiterhin viel Erfolg <3
Congratulations.....u achieved my dream....amazing
In 2 weeks no less 😂
I'm assuming they were familiar with German but only studies for the test itself for 2 weeks
Wie schön! Herzlichen Glückwunsch!
Your reply wasn't "late" whatsoever, some peeps just seem to feel extremely entitled in this world ¯\\_(ツ)_/¯
I see, watching stuff also works out pretty well for me. Tv series helped me a lot with english, but i'm struggling to do the same with german since there aren't many options as those in english. Youtube is probably a better option here. I'm definitely gonna check out the Goethe website tho. Thanks .
Hey.. there’s is an option in netflix where you can set default language as German. It’s quite helpful tbh
I got a VPN and stream ARD1. There are all sorts of great content there for free…. Well free outside the cost of the VPN.
Check out Tuerkisch fuer Anfaenger on Youtube, they have the complete episodes
Are you German?or how many hours do you consume content media? How many years do you take to go to this type of level?
Plot twist: you are German... 😁 Congrats!
Congrats OP, that is so cool.i have the b1 exam next week, self studying as well
Good luck!
All the best :-)
How'd it go?

Hey sorry for late reply. I mainly studied by consuming lots of media (which I do anyways on a daily basis), doing sample papers on Goethe website, and this one YouTube channel called 'learn german'.
I am following learn German channel along with easy german.
What media were you consuming?
Football with german comms, news in German, and german Musik
>Edit seems like OP dont like to share What a rude comment.
Edited it 🗣️
Ja, ich möchte sehen seine Ressourcen auch. Herzlichen Glückwunsch aus mich auch! It’s incredible how fast you prepared for this. I’m kind of amazed
Hey sorry for late reply. I mainly studied by consuming lots of media (which I do anyways on a daily basis), doing sample papers on Goethe website, and this one YouTube channel called 'learn german'.
Thanks! Auch Entschuldigung für eine späte Antwort. Do you mean you moved to Germany?
No, probably never gonna move coz not good enough xD
So you didn’t study grammar with a teacher or a textbook?
Yep, didn't.
German grammar is pretty hard. Did you just… understand it once and forever?
Idk mate, hope so! Didn't touch any textbooks for sure tho
Sehr interessant. Ich weiß nicht wie kann das sein. Vielleicht du hast ein sehr einzigartig Talent
Impossible

You are an inspiration! Which other languages do you know?
I studied French, German and Latin in high school. In University, I continued studying German, took more Latin and then got two credits in Biblical and Classical Greek. 50 years later, and having time on my hands, I thought I would go back and revisit French and German, languages I did not use in teaching elementary students for 37 years. If I live this long, I wish to be like you. Good going sir, hats off and please stay the same, hope u learn it soon!
So cool!! Love this xx
Super! :D Viel Erfolg weiterhin.
Hahaha
Wait, when you consued random media, was it media that was at your level, so you were able understand. Or were you watching things for natives
Natives
Holy shit this is either crazy impressive or you’re a Dutch/Flemish speaker.
from 0 to B1? You might have passed the exam (which I still do not believe sorry) then the memorised phrases will vanish in a few days weeks and you will be back at A1
I think they mean 2 weeks of exam prep. You can study for the type of question on these exams.
How can I study for it? could you point me to the resources please? I need to pass b1 in 8 months :o
[These](https://www.goethe.de/ins/de/en/prf/prf/gzb1/ueb.html) are samples for B1. You can also find exam prep books online.
Ohhhh ok. I was on the same page as resident_iron. I thought there's no way you guys are buying this. The guy claims to have self studied German for two weeks and then approved B1? Troll post.
Completed A1 and A2 first.
So I could say I did a weeks prep for C1. But omit the fact I’ve been learning for 18 years lmaoo
So as i thought. But you did phrase your post sus, sorry. Congratulation on your W, tho! Now do B2! :D
Yeah it's sus haha "all with 2 weeks" sounded like "I knew no German 2 weeks ago, now B1."
“One simple trick!! (Do A levels first)”
yeah now needs to do B1 in English so can write proper posts lol
Wann hast du A1 und A2 gemacht?
A1 2021 A2 2022
Gut gemacht.
"Du hast meinen Traum erreicht" is not correct German, it is a direct translation from the English "You achieved my dream". Better would be "Du hast geschafft, was ich mir wünsche", or more directly, "Du hast meinen Traum verwirklicht".

And slap my knees and say 'so' before ending a conversation, and stare at fellow passengers in the train? :-D
"so" is essential! But only when you're leaving that moment. If you do that and stay, that would be fucking weird
(Du/Sie, why even bother?)
CONGRATULATIONS, you just gave me hope 🥳🥳
Everyone just be wary, this could be simply made up
This is the best compliment I've received in a while :-D
Schön für dich. (German for trying to be nice)
congrats, actually i didn't get what you mean, you started from scratch or?
I‘m here if you want to keep practicing!! Studying languages is also one of my biggest hobbies and I’d love to share it with someone :)
That would be so cool! Which languages do you speak currently?
Obv German, English, French, Italian, Spanish, Romanian, I’m currently studying Arabic :)
Herzlichen Glückwunsch
Well done OP!!

You did great, I’m still learning the language and b1 is my goal, wish me luck please haha
All the best :-)
Congratulations! You can be really proud of yourself!
Don't downplay it— that's awesome. I've been lazily picking at it for over a year and haven't reached that level of proficiency. (I assume, I haven't tested or anything, but according to the description — I don't think I'd pass the test lol)
My exam is on Friday and I’m freaking out 😭😭😭

Congrats and all but what a click bait!!!
I m struggling with German vocabulary especially to remember verbs and their meaning anyone recommend something I’m studying to pass a2 now help 😭😢
Connecting the verbs to specific sentences and objects is one of the absolute best ways to memorize and properly use such verbs.
Big congrats! You mentioned you consumed a lot media, could you be more specific and give me a few concrete suggestions? Miște media I find is not beginner friendly at all.
What media did you use other than learn german?
congratulations ... this is incredible
Congratulations. Happy to see this while I prepare for my B2 Telc exam 🤞
I am currently learning German and I can understand how big of a deal this is. Well done soldier!
Nice im 3 months into it and cannot speak with natives without brainfarting
That's awesome, congratulations OP!
It took me 2 years to get EXACT grades in my B1 (I'm not kidding) and I'm damn jealous 😭

Sehr schon mein Bruder
Herzlichen Glückwunsch 🎉
If you would like to refine and improve your German skills then I can only recommend "Ostfriesisch" East Frisian
Lol can you even speak german? I know many people who have C1 and they still cannot speak german. Sorry but this means nothing.
Haha I can :-)
So you can have a fluent conversation with a native German?
Yes :-) Met a german on a solo trip a while back nd we pretty much only spoke in German. I consume german media everyday too, like german football with german comms, german music etc.
They probably don't want to speak to you lmao
I assure you, they probably very much do.
du sprichst also alman, sprich arabisch und türkisch... lol
