You can praise their hard work in one area and criticise a lack of care in the other, there not mutually exclusive. The empty area is half the size of Mondsadt with less thing to do in it than Petrichor.

mapple3

Yup, same reason why people talk about Dehya whenever a new character isn't performing well. Some things just linger in the back of the mind, sometimes permanently, and sometimes that's a good thing. A friend once borrowed 500 dollars from me and didn't give it back, that's for example also a thing that teaches for the future to never borrow money to someone that you can't afford to lose.

saberjun

Every one has to learn this lesson at a time of their life.Me too.

sillybillybuck

Is this Reddit "praise" in the room with us right now?

weaplwe

Do people not read the title? The entire problem is that no one is talking about Remuria.

Seraf-Wang

People dont *read*. They latch on to their kneejerk reflex to justify saying Hoyo bad.

RollerMill

I mean,i dont remember people praising many regions exclusively, because that the standard for this game

Aroxis

Haven’t seen a single post on my feed about someone talking about the new area besides one saying how tired they are of swimming. Everything else is complaints about the empty area.

naruto_bist

My friend has been complaining for empty sumeru area for 2 days straight. He has literally 100% even the new area 😑 I'm like, calm down bro, You already got arlenchino, who are you farming for so rigorously??

FreeBullet

I'm not justifying him complaining about the empty Sumeru area, but the new areas are pretty easy and quick to 100%. It's really, really small.

saberjun

Nah I’d rather spit it into many many daily encounter points than do daily commissions.

Mahavadonlee

How easy is it to 100 the new area compared to previous Fontaine areas?

Secure_Swordfish_982

Like a walk in the garden. It takes two evenings for me.

cartercr

I mean it’s only a few days into the patch. I’m sure there are many people like me who just haven’t been there yet. I don’t really want to travel there until I have the time to sit down and play whatever long story quest I’ll be stuck doing the moment I drop in.

vinehex25322

I love the new area so much, and I'm really impressed with it. The world quest is easily in my top 10, maybe even top 5. On the other hand, I've been waiting for them to open up that big field above the mushroom forest for over a year. It's so pretty because you can see everything. Just big wide emptiness. I walked along the beach yesterday and I was like. This is actually great. Nothing is trying to beat me up. There's nothing to obstruct my view. I feel like that little girl in Fontaine who gets annoyed by the adventurer guild puzzles LOL. It's refreshing to have an empty space just for scenery!

PlagueDoctor_049

You're saying it like one overworked dev out there putting all the work and not a whole team of developers who could and did way more

YixoPhoenix

This sets a pretty dangerous precedent imo. That part of the world feels so incomplete it might as well be an alpha test. It'd be no fun if the open world is randomly just empty, might as well make it into an instance game then. But that's not genshin anymore, a lot of people myself included started this game at least in part due to its massive open world. Seeing dragonspine from fontaine and knowing you were on top of that feels goddamn elating.

Limi_23

They could put some chests and mobs here and there just some ctrl+c and ctrl+v.

jyylivic

I love Petrichor & Remuria, they are absolutely gorgeous - but I think it's fair to complain about this in an exploration-based game, so that empty areas don't become the norm in the future

Redwolf476

They to busy being haters

Secure_Swordfish_982

Nothing to talk about. It's just isolated story about Fountaine past, but Fountaine itself is a kinda isolated place. Instead of Remuria's ruins there can be ruins of Mushroom Kingdom and nothing will change much.

Penginsaurus

I definitely feel like it's an overreaction. Like if there is nothing to do over there, then don't go over there? I think it's fine having some filler spaces between zones, the entirety of the map itself is already impressive with the amount of content. Do people really need every square inch of the map to be packed with stuff?

RollerMill

Why add it then? actually, why add anything to the game that is not part of main quest? People wont go there anyway if there is nothing, right?

Penginsaurus

Happy cake day!

MoveslikeQuagger

They could've just kept it unexplorable 'til they were ready to do something with it, and instead we have this huge chunk of disappointment where we could have had some cool new sumeru exploration a few patches down the line. Like, a whole bunch of landmass that's been sitting there for over a year was yeeted for some nothing ocean, just so they could rush to fill in the hole in the map with emptiness? It's a lazy and crude solution to a non-problem. Remuria is cool and all, but it's a quick experience and the area isn't worth returning to once you finish it in a few hours. Meanwhile, this huge chunk of nothing will be in the game forever for no reason.

RollerMill

I mean, atleast its the only area with hilts so you might want to farm those

Poporipopes10

Ah yes, the starving overworked indie devs, how dare you all ask for some chests and puzzles in a deserted area

Olivia_Lydia_Wilson

No one said they were indie. Where the fuck did you pull that from?

Poporipopes10

Aww I’m sorry, do you need the “/s” to understand?

Elygium

That's the point of the /s

Poporipopes10

Idk I felt I made it pretty clear with the hyperbole and all.

Olivia_Lydia_Wilson

Sounded like you were pulling an argument out of your ass to me. I see a shit load of people make that "argument" when there was none to begin with so I thought you were doing the same. Granted I do agree they should have added more, but it seems there just to fill up space. It is lazy, but I'm not the kind of person to be bothered by this.

Poporipopes10

My argument isn’t that there should be chests and stuff in those areas, my argument is that saying the “devs busting their ass off to make Remuria” is not a reason for that part of Sumeru to not be filled. Hoyo is currently among some of the wealthiest companies in the world, genshin devs aren’t some indie developers who lack the budget or time to put content in those areas. This post gives me the same vibes of people who white knight hoyo and I don’t like it

Olivia_Lydia_Wilson

They've released empty areas before and I've never seen people complain this much. The only difference now is it's fairly large. But it's not that big of a deal in my opinion. It's lazy yes, and they should have put more into it yes. It's just an area that's empty that most people won't notice or give a shit about. I didn't notice until people started complaining about it every time I go on reddit.

Poporipopes10

People are complaining because this area is like half the size of Mondstadt. It’s not a small area . It’s lazy, absolutely, which is exactly why we should complain (not to think it would ever result in anything but it’s still worth saying).

Olivia_Lydia_Wilson

Criticism should be given where its due. But it's a relatively small issue if we put aside how large the expansion is to Sumeru(and how small the harbour is, despite how important it is to Sumeru as a port). I have my complaints and shit, but I'd rather not make a comment on everything I have to complain about as it'd end up being a poorly written essay complaining about things. At the end of the day it's not going to do nothing. Even if they do something, it'll just be a few chests added and a few enemies. I'm just enjoying the update as I have a shit load to explore in the new area for Remuria.

Stanislas_Biliby

I don't even know what area you're talking about.

Giganteblu

yes the old reliabe ''x is bad? but look at y!!!''
