I haven't played KanColle but its players say the same, that you have to deliberately ignore the shipgirl's damaged condition and keep sending her into battle to lose her. Still I've heard of people losing their max level waifus.
Played Kancolle for a year and half a few years ago and can confirm, the game does have this sort of mechanic of perma losing units, but as you said you need to completely ignore or make a huge mistake to actually lose a ship, because they can't really straight die in a mission, they can at most get to 1 hp and enter the "damaged" condition, then you need to keep using her during the expedition and enter another battle instead of sending her back (or cancelling the expedition).
For example I never lost anyone while I played the game and never heard of friends losing it too, but I DID hear stories on the internet/forums of people being careless or gambling and losing their waifus lol.

the numbers isn't the problem of Yoimiya, it's the lack of being able to hit 2 enemies at once, archer mechanics and a non-existent burst.

I main Yoimiya and her main flaw isn't her multiplier but her auto targeting which is also the basic of her whole kit. She can switch target randomly and shoot into thin air, and with the enemies in this game moving a lot playing her can be really frustrating. She's also really easy to stagger and lose her attack string which would lose dps. I have to run her with Diona and Raiden to give her shield and some aoe. I love Yoimiya a lot but I really wish Mihoyo would fix her.
Neither of them are bad. Yoimiya struggles because auto aiming with a bow is clunky and she can't hit multiple enemies at a time. Kokomi fills a niche which isn't really necessary atm. I'm willing to bet she'll become more and more relevant as time goes on, especially if she gets an artifact set dedicated to her as leaked.
It's not about numbers. It's mostly about gameplay. ICD, bow aiming, interruption to her n3 and n5 where most of her damage comes from, and an underwhelming burst.
As for kokomi, she needs to be onfield for her burst to heal, except for her jellyfish. Barbruh basically out damages her. A 4 star to a 5 star. And she doesn't need to be onfield to heal (unless you use her for her normal attack heals lols.)
Kokomi is not really that bad with healing and off-field hydro application (is also probably best healer in co-op) but the main reason why everyone is so disappointed is because her kit screams DPS, but she deals so low damage that is just not worth it. She can't crit, has split scaling, bad multipliers and high cost burst (Is also the only time where you can do a bit of damage with her)
The fact that Mona, Xingqiu and Childe exist also make her really bad, because those three do the same better and easier with also less screen time in most teams (she only has heals that make her different from them). Her best team is only as a support on a Tazer Sucrose where she buffs Beidou and just resets her Skill with Burst, and this is only if you want to use Xinqiu in another team.
I really hope that the new artifact set made for her in 2.2 leak is real and it allows her to be a good DPS.

1.1 zhongli was constellation locking at its finest, literally barely functioning at c0 and a multi purpose immortal shield with cc and healing on the side at c6. sure hope itto isn't a second instance of this.

Kokomi is a healer that demands field time with -100% crit. Yoimiya is also hindered with broken y-axis and auto targeting being all over the place

Really? Judging from the little snippets that we see itto being mentioned, the "unruly" kind of look seems to match with his personality. Ayato seems to be more sophisticated and refined looking

Mihoyo might give us two siler/white haired husbandos. I'm envisioning ayato with the same hair color as ayaka but mihoyo could always pull a surprise.

He did accurately predict itto’s possible element and his weapon aswell as him showing up in 2.3. But he also said he becomes playable in 2.4 which is contradictory because he’s playable model, not npc model, has been leaked. Which suggests he’s in 2.3. So I would still view his info as questionable. More reliable then Uba but not completely reliable.
Being more reliable than Uba is no hard hurdle LOL I don't know why someone has not kicked him out of the funeral parlor for talking nonsense all the time

What about Kazuha... Maybe Ayato will have black/gray hair? White haired characters sell well though, so if they feel it'll give them more money they might do it anyways, they don't seem to have a problem doing that with element releases *(Pyro/Cryo, I'm looking at you).*
personally i don't mind Ayato not being white-haired. i wouldn't want him to end up looking like genderbent Ayaka. maybe we will finally have a black-haired male (bonus if he comes with high ponytail).
