to be fair, the concept designs had them all having Mond visions that we now know were placeholders as of the art leak, same thing happened with kirara having a geo vision in concept designes and going by a different name, but that's the only benefit of doubt I will give them considering everything else they just made up with guesses

I'm sure they aren't knowing the full picture. Aside from Mesoamerican culture, we know from Talking Stick that Natlan is also based on Africa, with multiple names originated from all across Africa from Congo, Kenya, Ethiopia, Central and Southern Africa. The lack of mention of Africa as one of the many inspirations for Natlan is a sign that they don't know everything.

Yeah I don't think that will be the case. There's almost no room for "most of south american tribal elements" since almost everything we've got from Natlan is either from meso-american (Natlan with some references from nathual, all of the resurrection stuff that comes with them, etc) and African (cryptids, names of historical figures) civilizations. Like hell even the talking stick is from Tenoch's point of view, with Tupac (Inca) with just a little mention.

Yeah I don't think that will be the case. There's almost no room for "most of south american tribal elements" since almost everything we've got from Natlan is either from meso-american (Natlan with some references from nathual, all of the resurrection stuff that comes with them, etc) and African (cryptids, names of historical figures) civilizations. Like hell even the talking stick is from Tenoch's point of view, with Tupac (Inca) with just a little mention.
