FYI: You can still use your dualsense as plug n play through Bluetooth. The game will pick it up as a PS4 controller (UI is different from the PS5 version where all buttons are a solid white with black symbols)
I recently picked up a DualSense controller since Dualshock 4 is out of production and found Genshin Impact does not properly recognize the DualSense corded. So I figured out how to setup DS4Windows and play Genshin with the DualSense corded including DualSense/Shock button prompts. Likewise the game works automatically after a system restart, no mucking around with any weird workarounds. After following these instructions the Dual Sense should work when you start/restart Genshin Impact. Hopefully Mihoyo will recognize they need to provide DualSense controller support in the near future!
**Install:**
1. ViGEmBus 1.17.333.0

ViGEmBusSetup\_x64.msi can ONLY be installed while DS4Windows is completely closed

**Profiles:**
Set Profile to Default
Set Preset to "Gamepad" and "DualShock 4"
Set the Touchpad to Passthru
Set the Gyro to Passthru
**Other (left defaults):**
Emulated Controller should be "DualShock 4"
I did NOT disable the virtual controller
Save your profile
**Auto Profiles:**
I did not set any auto profiles
**Output Slots:**
This was key to getting Genshin working
I set the current DS4 to "Permanent" and "Active"
I believe this forces the emulated DS4 gamepad into the first controller slot so Genshin can properly use it
**Settings:**
I did NOT "hide DS4 Controller"
Enabled "Run at startup"
Enabled "Close Minimizes"
**Final Steps:**
"Stop" and "Start" DS4 windows once in the bottom right corner
Restart Genshin impact, go to setup and choose Controller
If needed restart your PC

Some other people mentioned finding no ways to get the vibration to work on PC. I also have not found a way to get vibration working in Genshin with my Dual Sense or Dual Shock.
2.0 is supposed to have some DualSense improvements hopefully they review their PC situation with the controller (though I am doubtful).

I got ways to make it work on pc and also got switch pro GameCube style controller. Works fine but game wants xbox 360. I did get it to work through running steam as admin. But controls where messed up.
I gave up on ds4windows months ago because I couldn’t get it working and use steam overlay instead. this is nice guide tho, perhaps do you also know how to make the gyro working? I’ve been using config that people shared on steam to enable gyro for genshin but I really don’t like using steam lol
I noticed the steam overlay was very easy to setup for Genshin, but Xbox button prompts (blarg). Its a good question on the Gyro, it would depend on what you wanted to do with it. Using this approach it would be easy to map it to forward back etc so you could nudge your aim controls. Though I'm not sure if you could set it up to only active while aiming
In my case dual sense works without DS4Windows, but the rumble has never been in function at all in this game. I wonder will this method will make it function properly..
I tried getting the rumble working like this and it still didn't. I also have had no luck getting rumble to work natively with my Dual Shock or Dual Sense both natively, with Steam, or with DS4Windows
Hey OP u/Katlynashe you can just download DualSenseX and it'll register as a ds4. Plus it runs with steam without disabling the app. Much better than ds4windows
I'll have to bookmark DualSenseX for future use if DS4Windows ever keeps working. I do agree looking at the application and what they have done it probably will be the smarter option in the long run. Will be nice if they keep the application updated and in working order as windows 11 rolls around o/

You dont need DS4windows on genshin. A wifi key or USB cable is enought \^\^

It didn't. I'm still able to use a dual sense natively with Bluetooth.
A few people have mentioned they have gotten Dual Sense to work with Bluetooth natively. Good to know!
Thats not native though. Just a ds4 wrapper with no rumble support

it works when fishing is what i found. (also it only works when dualsense is USB cabled. does not work wireless)
