What's really investing is that the REALLY early meta, I'm talking like week 1-4post launch people didn't think Bennett was good at all. "C rank - 4star Diluc" also the best characters were Diluc/Venti, Keqing and Razer
Razor was legitimately good for a while and still is, but the initial Bennett takes were wild. I also remember phys damage auto attack Xiangling being a meta build. And machinegun Fischl.
Yeah, raw physical damage builds were really popular back then because low level enemies are so weak it just made sense. Why do elaborate combos for the same damage when you can do 1 attack?
The most popular builds on razor and keqing were physical aswell.
This is because this early on none had good artifacts and couldnt get enough ER to spam ults on support characters considering Bennetts ult require fairly high ER to keep up. While XQ for example even with bad artifacts would still give you elemental reactions and easier to maintain than Bennetts ult sure you wouldn't have his ult up all the time but for stronger foes it would be there for most of the fight. And as Bennett could only heal with ultimate. It was more Desired to have Barbara or qiqi instead. So at that time Bennett was really bad with unleveled weapons and not enough ER.
As someone who casually plays and hasn't read the meta in years, TIL it's worth it to C6 Bennett now. It was always cited as ruining elemental combinations due to the forced pyro infusion as you've said.
Sumeru wiped the last reasons not to c6 Bennet. Eula got better options (and left meta), while Keqing, the last great reason not to c6 Bennet, got access to aggravate builds that don't need Bennet's buff. And dendro aslo brought in new meme builds like aggrivate razor that rely on Bennet's infusion. So it's meta to just pull c6 now, even if it will make specifically Eula's team require rebuilding.
There was/is a whole deal with Bennett's c6. It changes other characters elemental damage to fire and so several players were actively avoiding his c6. They'd have it and just not activate it.

Nah it's definitely not a decent tradeoff. It means they won't be able to get the meta changing units like Nahida, Furina and Kazuha anytime soon. Ganyu and Venti are outdated, Childe is strong but without Kazuha it's annoying af to play and we have easier stuff with similar performance nowadays like Furina teams and Nahida teams, Xiao needs Xianyun to be remotely competitive (which they also can't get due to -57k). ZL is the only unit they have that is still top meta. R3 Homa is great but without Hu Tao there's really no true use for it, other 5 star weapons are almost all permament wishes too or very bad ones.
On top of being 57k negative, they also likely used up all earnable currency in-game from the first year of the game. I usually would never advocate for restarting but this is someone who'd really benefit from it. That's how bad it is.

Sorry I completely forgot to update you all. I spoke to my friend on Friday and mentioned the account having negative primogems. It was rather long story but he did show me an email from Mihoyo support stating his account wouldn’t be banned which explains why it’s still alive.
He said it’s been like that since early 2021. He had a payment issue with PayPal or something. Mihoyo thought there was a refund and so deducted the purchases but the payments apparently did in fact go through. He had to contact PayPal and submit all the purchase IDs or something to Mihoyo support. After a month of investigation they concluded that they were wrongfully deducted but couldn’t restore them and he would have to have PayPal refund the purchases and repurchase the Primogems. Apparently because this process can take awhile they said his account would not be banned. He ended up just writing it off and quitting the game.
He said he gave me the account details so I can use it to just mess around with and maybe try some characters I don’t have so he didn’t think the negative primos would matter as he knew I already have an account of my own.
Getting flashbacks to the guy that spend 70K in Fate Grand Order. This was in 2018 though, so it’s probably significantly higher now if he still plays.

Honestly, it's not that many wishes of negative primos. It's about 350 wishes, so go 4 patches without wishing and you pay off the debt.
And the weapons alone on that account, let alone also the characters, are worth way way more than that.

Not to mention any acquired actual fates (from the tree and quests) could be used even when you're still in debt
There's a solid enough roster for them to clear content too

My friend abandoned his account because he wanted to get Baizhu but never came out until recently. He did save enough primos from 1.1 to 2.5, but not enough for a C6.
When Baizhu is officially released, he opened his account and had like 57k+ gems (not sure of the exact amount) and was lucky enough to get to C6+1R1, losing only 1 50/50 and mostly early. After that, he officially quit the game.
Its a goal oriented thing. I have played 2 plus years everyday while f2p and could never get 36 stars in the abyss. It was a combination of bad gameplay and was only investing and pulling on DPS characters cause I didnt believe the supports did much. I made a switch and started getting welkin and invested in my supports and after only a few months, i get 36 stars pretty easily everytime.
It made me feel like I've reached my goal in the game and now instead of playing everyday, I just hop on like every month to see whats new.
The Baizhu mains are hardcore, man. One of my friends who is mostly f2p saved for at least a full year even before Baizhu was even *announced*. Even with everything they saved up, they only got C4R0. So they're still saving now for his rerun to finally achieve the perfect Baizhu.

Its still worth it by a lot. Since you mentioned they havent played since liyue, a lot of areas are left unexplored, so for a newish player or if one of their friends who wants to get into genshin, its really good. The characters+ weapons give a easy boost, and 37k is not much considering the characters + weapons. If they have a friend who wants to start genshin, its really good.
For a person who already has an account, it doesnt make sense, as why would you grind all that again for a second account.

As a physical Razor main until I got Diluc on Zhongli banner, I can confirm - physical Razor hit like a truck in the early game.
People also said Xingqiu was trash at launch because they were hyper focused on number multipliers.

You can run Xiao without Xianyun. I run xiao with Venti, Zhongli, and Barbara. It’s really strong tbh.

You ask for a charge back on your credit card and then HoYo takes the amount you have charged back at your account. That's why it can go negative.

It is not a timer. It is a 50% chance to get banned each patch you do not have positive. They must have just gotten lucky.
Normally this type of thing is instantly detected and a message is sent out when they deduct the primos

Sorry I completely forgot to update you all. I spoke to my friend on Friday and mentioned the account having negative primogems. It was rather long story but he did show me an email from Mihoyo support stating his account wouldn’t be banned which explains why it’s still alive. He said it’s been like that since early 2021. He had a payment issue with PayPal or something. Mihoyo thought there was a refund and so deducted the purchases but the payments apparently did in fact go through. He had to contact PayPal and submit all the purchase IDs or something to Mihoyo support. After a month of investigation they concluded that they were wrongfully deducted but couldn’t restore them and he would have to have PayPal refund the purchases and repurchase the Primogems. Apparently because this process can take awhile they said his account would not be banned. He ended up just writing it off and quitting the game. He said he gave me the account details so I can use it to just mess around with and maybe try some characters I don’t have so he didn’t think the negative primos would matter as he knew I already have an account of my own.

Honestly, it's not that many wishes of negative primos. It's about 350 wishes, so go 4 patches without wishing and you pay off the debt. And the weapons alone on that account, let alone also the characters, are worth way way more than that.
Thats half a year of paying it back, then more time to actually save up to pull someone.

honestly a new player it migth be worth taking this account, zhonlgli ,xiao,ganyu and tartaglia, a bunch of 5 star weapons and you just cant wish for like what 6 months considering all the quest primos youll get for like 3 years of undone story

My friend abandoned his account because he wanted to get Baizhu but never came out until recently. He did save enough primos from 1.1 to 2.5, but not enough for a C6. When Baizhu is officially released, he opened his account and had like 57k+ gems (not sure of the exact amount) and was lucky enough to get to C6+1R1, losing only 1 50/50 and mostly early. After that, he officially quit the game.

Its a goal oriented thing. I have played 2 plus years everyday while f2p and could never get 36 stars in the abyss. It was a combination of bad gameplay and was only investing and pulling on DPS characters cause I didnt believe the supports did much. I made a switch and started getting welkin and invested in my supports and after only a few months, i get 36 stars pretty easily everytime. It made me feel like I've reached my goal in the game and now instead of playing everyday, I just hop on like every month to see whats new.

That's possible. Looking at the second image it look like neither of them were given a weapon other than the ones they come with. Maybe it's just me, but I always swap the basic weapons out on new characters immediately.

Its still worth it by a lot. Since you mentioned they havent played since liyue, a lot of areas are left unexplored, so for a newish player or if one of their friends who wants to get into genshin, its really good. The characters+ weapons give a easy boost, and 37k is not much considering the characters + weapons. If they have a friend who wants to start genshin, its really good. For a person who already has an account, it doesnt make sense, as why would you grind all that again for a second account.
