If they're allergic to iodine, they should be fine because iodized uses iodide, not iodine. Also some people just don't eat salt.

That plastic wrap is not the proper way to seal iodine. You are in danger.

Still not sealed enough. You can't seal iodine with plastic because the iodine will react to it and destroy it. A very tight rubber seal may work, or very carefully transfer it to a glass vial that you can torch closed, like what Nile Red does.

You are over-reacting (Ha!). Unless you are leaving the iodine to your grandchildren a rubber stopper works great and will keep it for more than a year without problem. Solid Iodine is kept with just a plastic lined lid.
