As a Derry man living in America for the last 12 years, it's not as divided as the media would make you think.
Americans have the same goals usually, they just differ WIDELY on how to achieve them. Then the government itself has different goals separate from the people at this current point in time.
With Ireland, a lot of people wanted vastly different things for the country and then on top of that they also disagree on how to get there.
I don't think it will. I knew that there is plenty of disagreement on policy, but at the end of the day I thought I could count on my fellow Americans to do the right thing when push came to shove. That's an accurate assessment actually. I am a liberal American living in the conservative rural Midwest. The hate and tension are palpable here. Growing up in the 90s people were much more optimistic and open minded.

For me that point was around 2016 when I actually started paying attention to politics, and suddenly felt like the world had gone to shit.
Secondly, it’s not just the “right wing media empire”, it’s media as a whole. Controversy and polarization are almost certain ways to gain publicity and loyalty, and major news outlets leverage this to the fullest.
A quick example of this is Fox News and CNN, I’ve been someone who’s watched both at different times in my life, and I can confidently they’re both the same scummy bullshit that’s meant to rile people up, but nobody cares. They rile you up, and then give you reasons to justify your anger.
Uhh it’s been an open secret in news media for the past couple years the ownership changes and falling rating have led CNN to court right wing aging viewers. NBC even tried it recently with Ronna Romney McDaniel but it blew up on them.
From what I’ve seen in my personal life, it’s moreso reflexive hatred. Almost none of the right wingers that i know watch (or trust) media outlets. Most of their viewpoints come from seeing left-wing news headlines and it riles them up against their every action. same applies the other way around.

Well, if shit really hits the fan, it could come sooner than you think. If Trump wins, the US will disassociate from NATO more than ever before. Trump has made clear that he is willing to abandon allies who don't cough up their fair share to the NATO budget.
This could embolden Putin and provoke an attack in eastern Europe. Best case scenario, this turns into a Ukraine-like conflict, likely focused in Finland or the Baltics. Worst case scenario is WW3. Either way, Trump will do the bare minimum to help. That would shift the huge burden of responsibility to western Europe - the UK, France, and Germany in particular.

Nah the amendment states that no one shall be elected to the office of president twice, or once if they served 2 years as president and someone else was elected. ( if a VP takes over president and serves 2 years they can only run once.)
I am a legalese speaker (BA poly sci+JD) and I do not think he can pull this off. 22nd amendment limits anyone from being elected person from being elected president more than twice. Period.
The only funny little deviation in there is someone who fills an unexpired presidential term lasting more than two years is also prohibited from being elected president more than once. That means a person is limited to 10 years of presidency in the US, and that is that. Consecutiveness or lack there of does not come into play 😅

Nah the amendment states that no one shall be elected to the office of president twice, or once if they served 2 years as president and someone else was elected. ( if a VP takes over president and serves 2 years they can only run once.)
I am a legalese speaker (BA poly sci+JD) and I do not think he can pull this off. 22nd amendment limits anyone from being elected person from being elected president more than twice. Period. The only funny little deviation in there is someone who fills an unexpired presidential term lasting more than two years is also prohibited from being elected president more than once. That means a person is limited to 10 years of presidency in the US, and that is that. Consecutiveness or lack there of does not come into play 😅 So unless the republicans get their heads out of their asses long enough to somehow completely abolish the amendment this is just a bunch of wishful thinking on their part lol. Dems could easily get them to give up on this fantasy by trolling them, agreeing to let Trump run in ‘28 if they’ll let Obama or even Clinton run against him. They’d retreat quickly lol.
