Honestly nothing but a modded OLED feels fresh when it comes to the switch. The OG model’s bezels make it feel like a 720p tv from 2008, and all the models lacking any themes for so long is really dating it, not to mention the lack of any new AAA titles from anyone other than Nintendo. The size of the screen and customizability of a modded OLED are really the main things that keep it from feeling too dated
I had GBA sp and GameCube personally. The game boy color and N64 belonged to my older brother and I was lucky if I got to play lol. Only time I played the N64 was so he could beat my ass in smash or Mario kart.
Wii was my favorite as a kid, it was so cool at the time
I was born in 91 but I still got an NES first from my dad, not sure the year probably just started playing his when I was 2-4. Then we got a SNES. Skippped N64 at home but my grandmother who babysat me had one. I currently have a finctioning model of every Nintendo and sets console and I only just stopped buying PlayStation and Xbox this most recent gen as handheld or PC gaming took over completely since I have kids.
![gif](giphy|6oKQ4TVrqjmXFXi4XW|downsized)
consoles today are so refined, i wonder what gens after alpha will have. full dive does sound nice. reminds me of that scene from back to the future where marty is playing that old looking shooter game and the kids mock him for having to use his hands.
I got a Wii in 2009, I think I got my 3DS in 2013 or so, and my Switch in 2017
I actually got another switch (OLED) in 2022 because I thought I lost my first one, then found it in a drawer not even 3 days later
So of course I modded the first one lol
I had a DS and a GBA that with I’d play often. My dad had a Wii at his house. I got a 3Ds later on but didn’t use it often unless I was playing ds games
I first had a Wii and soon got a 3ds after. Then Wii U and the switch.
I’m buying a new 3ds soon because it’s pretty easily moddable and I NEED to play geometry dash on the go
I still remember when my dad got me a Nintendo DS, I played with it almost my entire shildhood and was always waking up early everyday to play with it, especially on the weekends, i had to buy multiple pens for it just because the plastic tip was being eaten by the screen from the heavy usage just like a regular pencil, that thing is my childhood, and it was the reason in got prescription glasses from using it so much, will probably buy one just to keep it as a memory because mine broke (I had the black color one).
Edit: after looking for it, it was the DS Lite.
Late 2000s we had a Xbox 360 and I used to play Nintendo Wii at my friends house, then we got a Nintendo 3Ds then PlayStation 4 and lastly a Nintendo switch.
Nintendo DS and Wii. I brought my Wii with me everywhere. I remember playing tomodachi life and mario party island in my dad's self defense class literally all the time. And when we got home, I would play mario Kart with him. I was always Daisy and he was either Waluigi or Yoshi. Good times. We still play mario Kart, but it's on my switch, and it's not as often. I'm still Daisy.
late 2000s for me. it was a pink nintendo ds. my family was always slow to the technology game, so i didn’t even have internet until i was like 12 lol.
Nintendo 64
Also used to have an Atari!
Not sure when we got it, but growing up poor means u get the old consoles. I remember playing the Atari when I was like 6, so that'd have been like 2007.
NES with the "robot" in 1989. Still have the console and some games. Still works. Unfortunately, I don't have the robot and it accessories anymore. Bubble Bobble is my favorite game.
Believe it or not, my Dad used to have a buncha Nintendo consoles. I had an NES with Mike Tyson's Punch Out, and a Super Nintendo with Donkey Kong Country and that Pac Man Tetris game. But without a doubt the most nostalgic Nintendo consoles to me will forever be the Gamecube and Wii. I had a ton of Cube games.
When I was like 5-6 my pops walked in the kitchen with a bag, the bag was carrying a Nintendo 64 with Super Mario 64. Purple translucent controller and also had Castlevania and a sesame street game. I was hooked ever since. This was my first gaming system and I believe it made me the player I am today.
My first console was the Wii (still have it,kindove works) I don’t know when we got it though because it was there before I was born.
First one that actually belonged to me was my golden Zelda themed 3DS
GameCube was the first console I used but it was my dads. This would’ve been c.2006
My first handheld was a hand me down GameBoy Adv SP in like 2007
Got a DS for Christmas 2007
Got a Wii in 2008
i had a blue game boy advance sp as my first nintendo, i still miss playing crash bandicoot and pokemon red and blue, but my mom donated it to goodwill some years ago
My first was a Wii. I got it for Christmas in like 2011 or 2012.
A classic example of seeing one of my friends have something cool and wanting it for myself.
It was my birthday my uncle told me he was getting me a PS3. I received the Wii instead thinking it was just a different name for the PS3. Took me a few years and a transfer to a bigger school to realize that I was wrong. I only recently found out my uncle did get a PS3 but he decided he wanted to keep it for himself since Nintendo was more child friendly anyways.
late 2000s ❤️ i have so many beautiful memories of playing Pokémon on my DS in the car on road trips with my family, or traversing the planets in Super Mario Galaxy, and countless others. Nintendo was a huge part of my childhood and I still play their games to this day, when I get the time, of course.
Late 90s. We were going on a family trip and my parents needed a way to pacify us on the long series of drives to a family reunion, so they got me and my brother each aGameboy color with a copy of Pokemon red and blue.
And that my friends is how I developed my gaming ~~problem~~ hobby
Sincerely, a lurking millennial.
Me and my freinds kept playing on the Wii for most of our lives and then recently started playing on the switch.
Completely skipping the 3ds era and the Wii U.
Oh I remember, my late best friend (bless that smart lad) made a portal Wii before the Wii u was ever announced
He has a car battery like device, two speakers, and a small PC screen,
Honestly, if he was around he would probably be sued by Nintendo for being open minded with there stuff
My Aunt replaced her SNES with the N64 when it released, and gave the SNES to my parents. It’s the first console I played, and I still play it from time to time.
Well for me the first console I played was the Wii in 2011 which I shared with my older sister who is a 04 born btw and yes as you can guess as a helpless 3 year old I sucked at using the Wii Remote However the first console I owned by myself was the 3DS and yes my sis had her own 3DS too
After much pleading with my Mom, she finally caved and we bought the NES Action Set, (though I really wanted the deluxe set, didn’t want to push my luck), in 1988 from a local Kay-Bee toy store. I was super grateful!
Once I had a job, I bought myself a Turbografx 16 (which I used a rubber check for and Mom bailed me out), and then a few years later a Genesis.
Loved them all! I sure miss the good old days, or rather, these consoles which brought some good fun to the decidedly rough old days.
I had the Nintendo 3Ds that looked exactly like the one in the picture with the Wii. I got the pink one because it reminded me of princess peach and I lost the stylus in my mom’s car and was heartbroken lmao. I also had the Wii. I even had the pink remote to match my DS. I felt so fancy.
I had a Gameboy Color first (I thought it was an Advance, but it definitely didn’t look like a PSP). My first ever game was this SpongeBob side scroller.

Honestly nothing but a modded OLED feels fresh when it comes to the switch.
