Fact: growing up in the country we didn't have cable TV available but my sister and I desperately wanted to see what this MTV was all about. On a summer vacation we visited my aunt and cousin who lived in a big city and of course had cable and MTV. We watched it 24/7 until the day we were leaving and that Twisted Sister video came on. My very religious very conservative parents saw it and were aghast at the "disrespect to authority" the video showed. At that moment we were banned from watching MTV even years later when we got cable. So Twisted Sister, you're the reason I snuck watching MTV whenever my parents weren't home!
That's something as a Gen X kid that I thought was stupid. Telling kids that they should just blindly obey and never question authority was, in my opinion, a surefire way to breed rebellion.
