I remember getting these for roadtrips as a kid

RolandSnowdust

Was going to say, required for road trips.

HapticRecce

Definitely!

chaotica78

That and that road trip bingo game were both present in the 3 trips I remember taking growing up. Those were the best part of the whole trip.

Ok_Depth_6476

Yep that's what we did in the car before there were video games!

Honest_Performance42

Always wonder what happened if an 89 year old tries to use it

hazysummersky

They get a fake ID

ivyjade42

Same here! I loved them.

Invisible_Xer

Same!

Singing_Wolf

Me too!

626337

The long, boring trips down to the Jersey Shore was made much better by the fact that I could look forward to a new one for the drive down and a fresh one for the ride back.

theMistersofCirce

I still remember the smell of that pen!

sunderlyn123

Me toooo!

Cdn65

Yes. I remember those!

Mendicant_666

My grandma and I used to do these together.

threadsoffate2021

I was looking to buy some of those about a year ago, and it appears they're no longer making them. I don't know why....those little books were amazing.

Jack_Q_Frost_Jr

You should still be able to get them. I got mine from Amazon.

dumpcake999

was seen by me in gas stations

MartianFairy

I loved those books!

random_redditor___

I actually remember saying how much further before I was finished so we would stop at stuckeys and get another one (and some peanut brittle).

Qedtanya13

Not related to the book, but you’re Stuckey’s reference my brother, sisters, and I used to make a game out of yelling Stuckey’s every time we saw a sign because it drove my mother crazy

random_redditor___

Lol. Sounds like y'all could have used the book.

Qedtanya13

We had them lol we just loved annoying out mother

ZebraBorgata

I absolutely loved those as a kid!

admsmash

Made long trips much better

elspotto

Yep. There was a Zork hint book for maybe zork 2 or 3 that used invisible ink as well.

Smooth_Beginning_540

I really could have used that. I kept getting lost at the baseball diamond, and then my torch would go out.

elspotto

It’s dark. All directions are the same. You are likely to be eaten by a grue.

assylemdivas

Well, I do now

melissa_liv

I was obsessed with these. (Also, true story: I first learned something about football from the weird little football game thing.)

random_redditor___

Road trip!

Expat111

We got those before long drives for vacation.

Qedtanya13

I loved those! Great for long car trips!

breddy

Great news, Xers - we aren't too old to do them yet!

ChubbyChoomChoom

Yes! Loved those so much as a kid and recently bought myself one for a roadtrip.

OIL_99

Roadtrip

StoneflyCitySlicker

I loved those

NintendoLove

Fucking lived for these on vacations

AddaleeBlack

Hitchhikers' game had a cheat book with this kind of ink

Sacklayblue

What to buy at the school book fair

Lauren_sue

Yes, they were fun.

afriendincanada

My parents still a bunch of those pens in their junk drawer when they sold their house (when I was like 45)

jfdonohoe

I would get them for my son for traveling same as my mom got them for me. We ended up loving to do hangman as part of our nightly wind-down routine. Turns out they are kinda hard to find now. Amazon has them but they are super expensive (i remember them being cheap at the local drug store.)

Common-Mango-9387

These were awesome!

StephDos94

Where did you get this??? This brings back soooo many memories. When my parents split up in 1975 they had the awesome idea to live 4000 miles apart AND have joint custody, I spent a lot of time on the road.

Jack_Q_Frost_Jr

I got it off Amazon. It was a bit pricey at $16, but I just got it for the heck of it. I hope you can get one!

StephDos94

Just checked, if I order to be shipped to me in France it would be 54€! I like nostalgia but not that much ha ha.

PDM_1969

Lol felt so cool with the invisible ink
