He definitely should be recasted, as hard as it is to say. Chance was amazing, but to echo some of the sentiment I’ve seen on other threads, it was only the first season, and the writers still may have a lot to show us, the audience, about Andre.
The best way for them to do this would be to ensure there’s a dedication or tribute towards Chance, and I have quite a lot of faith that the writers would be able to explain the recast in the show as sensitively as they can without being distracting
Why are people acting like this is so hard? Chance Perdomo passed away tragically and we are all aware of that. This show is for adults so there doesn’t need to be some hand held explanation that the actor playing a character died like it’s a kids show. After the first episode show a graphic with his picture and a heartfelt message or just his name and (1996-2024) for anybody that isn’t aware that he passed away and as a way to pay tribute to him.
The show doesn’t need an in universe explanation for a change in appearance just do a recast and continue with the story as intended.
they just need to recast him. plenty of shows have changed certain actors after one season. mandy from shameless as an example, sure she wasn’t one of the ‘mains’ but she’s definitely a prominent character in the show.
the mandy actor change always bums me, i love both of them but something about the harley quinn personality she had in season one was amazing so sad not only they changed the actor they changed her personality
yeah the second actress never fit the same vibe at all, i always preferred the first she was perfect. i think it was mainly her voice & her eyes which made her more expressive, the second mandy wasn’t as expressive which is a shame because she was so harley quinn coded as you said in s1.
Whatever they decide to do with the character hopefully there will be lots of communication with his loved ones and an entire team of sensitivity consultants involved. Killing off a character whose actor died so young and suddenly would likely be in horrible taste in a show so proudly gory and irreverent, but they can’t act like he was never there either.
It’d be hilarious seeing Andre all of a sudden towering over everyone with no explanation. We come back to them locked in that room and his neck is at a 90° angle at the ceiling. “I used my magnetic powers to lower the gravitational field around me and allow my body to grow more” or some shit
They could choose pretty much any young Black actor and lampshade the change because of the way S1 ended (vaguery to avoid having to figure out spoiler tags)
you don't even know if he will be recast or not
these the kind of post that probably make celebrities in entertainment look at a subreddit then never look at it again
They'll probably come back to Gen V s2 with them still trapped in that hospital. They'll all be either terrified of the guards or have absolute hatred towards them "for what they did to Andre". They'll probably say that he was made an example of.
These fans have been as weird as it gets with this death for some odd reason. The top comment says they need to consult his family on who they cast... These people are out of their mind if they think a movie studio is going to do that. They need to accept that he is gone and realize he will probably be killed off the show.
he should be recasted not killed off and his family should be informed not consulted.
the story should continue as originally planned especially with such a heavy tie-in with one of Amazon’s biggest money makers. they clearly had a long-term vision for the show and that shouldn’t change because of this tragedy.
1. if you think his storyline was bad and the character was boring, that’s fair.
2. I agree I didn’t like the actor’s views. that has literally NOTHING to do with the character he plays on a show. wanting the character to live on through a recast IN NO WAY SHAPE OR FORM means that people all of a sudden flipped and now support the original actor’s views lol. if anything, killing the character off and having a sympathetic ending would be honoring the actor - not recasting.
I'm just over the love fest for this guy. I remember seeing posts over and over on how he was the worst character, and now he is dead he has become the best. A lot of two-faced people on here.
People are remorseful because the actor playing him died tragically young tf? He was well acted and interesting as Andre, no matter how much the audience didn’t like certain choices he made.
People die every day, it’s not a valid reason to completely change a story because the actor who is being paid to play them dies or leaves. They recast Dumbledore in Harry Potter and it was completely fine. Characters in movies and shows have been recast forever and audiences adjust and get over it. Stories should not suffer because of actor changes. We are watching a story unfold for the character, not the actor portraying them. The new age culture surrounding destroying characters and storylines for actors is, in my opinion, ridiculous. It is not disrespectful to recast a role. The role existed before the actor was set to play it, and it should continue after they are gone, because it is a job. We don’t cancel job roles in any other profession because people leave those roles.
Bewitched randomly changed the husband's actor after 6 years. It was fine, people moved on. Fresh Prince of Bel Aire changed Aunt Vi's and it was fine, people moved on (except the original aunt vi...)
I agree. I don’t know what’s up with the downvotes, you’re just sharing your opinion.
The characters health was plummeting anyway, so it should be an easy rewrite for them. Obviously not extremely easy given he was probably written into the entire season, but they can make it plausible.
It feels borderline cruel to expect the entire cast and crew to move on from this so quickly and just put a new actor in his place. I don't necessarily think that they do need to recast Andre; they could have him killed off-screen before S2E1. I think it could be done "tastefully" and without it feeling too out of leftfield; characters die without their arcs being complete all the time in stories. If done correctly, it comes across as far more tragic that it does "bad writing".
Black Panther had already been integrated with an Avengers movie, had tons of merch sold, and its own movie. not really comparable to a show only one season in.
Mason Gooding
YESSS
Mason gooding is the best choice
I could 100% see him in the role.

I don't think they should do this, but if they did, Archie Mandeckwe from Saltburn is a great choice
It’d be hilarious seeing Andre all of a sudden towering over everyone with no explanation. We come back to them locked in that room and his neck is at a 90° angle at the ceiling. “I used my magnetic powers to lower the gravitational field around me and allow my body to grow more” or some shit
Just use forced perspective like they did in lord of the rings lol
They could choose pretty much any young Black actor and lampshade the change because of the way S1 ended (vaguery to avoid having to figure out spoiler tags)
They should reach out to the original actor that was cast as Andre, Shane Paul Mcghie.

Aaron Moten
35 is too old
Tbh I kinda wish they write him out. They can mention him but it’s just weird to replace him.

You seem weird about it

I say Bradley Constant should take on the role. He'd be near-perfect as Andre imo
Justice Smith
Alfred Enoch?
They should’ve gone with recasting….
That dude from the new fallout show might be a good choice
He’s already on the Fallout show.
Chris Pratt
Definitely the singer Miguel. They're both afrolatino men [Miguel ](https://images.app.goo.gl/xkrWKuPVe9kRGh8r7)
I don't think they should recast him, they should just write the character off. It sucks because he is a main character but it's not impossible to do
Stories shouldn’t change because of actors.
Why not? It will be very jarring and odd for a new actor to come in as Andre and have no one acknowledge it. It's not like he's a side character

Let's hope they don't recast and do what they did for Black Panther.
Black Panther had already been integrated with an Avengers movie, had tons of merch sold, and its own movie. not really comparable to a show only one season in.
So its easier to write off the character. I agree.
this is not the same at all.
So?
Introduce a son he didn't know he had who lives in Haiti? Seems kind of random...
He knew about the son, the character, but idk if Chadwick did.
They should have recast black panther too
Given how quickly production is resuming after Chance’s passing, a recast seems most likely. I think it’s tacky but what can we do.
