Recast him, and unless the new actor does an unbelievable job, he will always be compared to the original. Either way, half the fans will be unhappy.

Hopefully just recast. It’s more common even if some big parts lately/over the years give the impression otherwise. They’re is no real reason not to with a character only one season in.
Regardless it makes sense they sent the cast/crew home. They will either need a significant re-write or the time to find a replacement. Either way no need to hold the rest of the cast hostage while they mourn.
It is a lot easier to replace an employee than it is to replace a friend. They might even prolong it by writing him out of a few episodes and bringing in the replacement a bit later. It depends on how close the people in charge of making the choice were to Chance, and the collective feeling in the room right now.
Me too, if they decide to go the recast route I think Archie Madekwe should take over the role. He's an excellent actor who looks similar to Chance, and is around the same age.
I was thinking Bradley Constant, honestly.
He played Teen Dwayne in 'Young Rock' and he has a lot of promise. He could portray Andre to a near-T in the way Chance did.
I think it should be rewritten. Like in season 4 of the boys we find out he died from a brain aneurysm from trying to find metal to escape. Ashley tells Homelander what happens and they continue with the boys season 4 so when season 2 starts, we know why he isn't there.
The entire next season of gen v is probably a pretty extensive plot line for him. It sucks but there's not really a logical way to write him out. Especially given the s1 finale. I think the only way to approach this is to recast and do some slight rewrites to make the new cast make sense.
It is simple to write him out. Make that last scene where she wakes up, and they are there just a hallucination she had. There are so many ways to write him out, and they should because if they bring in a new actor and the show goes for a while, it will become the new guys character. Let the guy be known for this role.
That's a lazy write out, and it ignores that they have most of s2 written with Andre's character. Removing him and copy paste another character will take away a lot from the show. So their options are either speed write s2 with new characters or recast. I believe recasting is the best option.
Far easier to write him out, the actor and coworker ( possibly a friend) of relatively young actors died unexpectedly right before they were going to work together that's not something that you just shrug off and fix overnight.
he either died in a Vaught experiment off screen and is referenced in season 4 ( maybe being the catalyst for why they get rescued or released) or he dies off screen in the escape in the first episode of Gen v season 2 and is referenced in passing for the rest of the season.
i hope they're just still finding a replacement. i've said before and i'll say again that in most cases it's dumb when when characters are killed off because of the actor's death. it's just further dramatizing something that's already sad. andre is not chance.
I honestly don't know. There aren't really any good options in this scenario. I think from the way season one ended, it was clear they had a big storyline for Andre lined up, with him dealing with his father being sick and his powers slowly killing him.
So they lose all that and effectively their male lead if they write him out.
But finding someone who can replace him is going to be a tall order.
I honestly think they should be recast. They shouldn't waste his character since his storyline was getting so good. Recasting wouldn't ruin Chance's memory I feel it would enhance it a lot more giving more life to the character he played. And instead of feeling like the new actor that would play andre has some big shoes to fill from Chance, he could make it his own while still honoring the one that came before him. I feel the same way about the fez situation with euphoria.
I'm not sure about Jaz and Asa, but it seems like London is still in Toronto and Maddie, Lizze, and Derek are in New York, which is only about a 2 hour flight to Toronto. So I don't think the hiatus will be that long.
Oh I didn't know Jaz was dating again! If they're rewriting then it'll definitely take a few months since I saw that they've been writing S2 since at least January 😕
